I’ll play it but when I beat it what else is there to do, I’ll keep playing eso

Played fallout 4 still played eso
Played dark souls still played eso
Played final fantasy still played eso

Only thing that will kill eso is a better MMORPG that makes me excited

If people still play eso at that point a ton of players will probably play it and return afterwards :) but who knows, it might be 5 - 8 years till it releases, eso can have died many times before that.

IF and that's a big IF TES 6 actualy releases - people who wanted TES 6 will play it, people who are enjoying ESO will continue to play it and both games will continue to coexist the way ESO currently coexists with all the constant rereleases of Skyrim.

why am I getting a feeling that its a barely disguised "ESO is dying and the only reason people play it is because TES 6 is not out" thread?

and you cannot use "its the only TES mmo" excuse either, because if TES6 comes out? its not going to be an MMO. at most it MIGHT have up to 4 people grouped option and even then, more likely then not, its not going to be for playing through main campaign but rather the sort of multiplayer that is an excuse to sell boxes that's been shoved into every single player game lately.

I can assure you..I have no alterior motives here. I'm pretty new..only been playing since october..it kind of worries me actually if es 6 is so good people have no time left for this.

Another worry is that te 6 may pull in the reigns a bit to avoid contaminating the game here..are they the same company?

It’ll probably be elder scrolls v Akavir, which will take at least 5 more years to develop and won’t be as successful as Skyrim because they’re more open world games now to compete with. In 5 years time god know what might happen to ESO it might finish if they fill the map

it hasn't even been announced. how can you possibly worry about ES 6 when IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN ANNOUNCED???? right now? its vaporware.

also.. Zenimax media owns both Bethesda and Zenimax studios, so they are sister companies if you will. last but not least.. its not like multiple games set in the same universe and even the same time period haven't coexisted before.

To me it will be interesting to see what affect the games have on each other. Will ES6 be shorter perhaps? Will ES6 include a crappy games as service model trying to capture more players and hoping not to rob ESO of to many? Will ESO die in a server fire under mysterious circumstances the day before ES6 launches? I can’t wait!

because of potential cannibalization of eso and skyrim TES6 wont come out for a loooong while. I dont think eso will shut down but see a temporary substantial drop in player numbers...i for one would switch for the next 500 hours...We also have to keep in mind that an mmo shelf life isnt endless so when TES6 releases in 3-5 years, eso might have run its course either way - that is what they are probably trying to time anyhow

They already said thst they don't work on TES VI yet- it clearly needs a new engine now which is a huge thing to do for Bethesda. They won't do a thing with TES VI until TESO is used to its fullest potential. And I don't even mention stuff like experimenting on provinces to see what people (at least majority) like etc.

    Question time!

After so many years of eso ask yourself this, if they cannot fix and stabilise this server than what it will be like on eso6. I also predict eso6 will consist of 30% content and 70% pay store.

Single-player games, even TES, take maybe 60 hours to complete. The top 10% most obsessed will keep playing for another 60-ish hours, and a few percent will keep playing over and over.

That's maybe a month or two of ESO play time. MMOs are orders of magnitude longer play, and keep coming out with new content.

I don't know about you, but I spent about 700 hours in Skyrim, twice as that in Oblivion and don't even start on Morrowind :D

TES series has a great replay potential, which is not ESO aspect.

If Elder Scrolls 6 comes out within the next few years I believe it would only renew interest in the series and draw in more players in the long run.

Maybe we'll see 1-2 of months of lower population, but as soon as people complete a reasonable amount of Elder Scrolls 6 they will most likely consider picking up ESO or returning to it.

They could even have incentives and free trials packaged with Elder Scrolls 6 to encourage people. I don't see how it could possibly have a negative effect.

I love the TES series and have played since Arena (and it's spin -offs).

But looking at how long I play them it is diminishing.

Arena I haven't played that long and is also to long ago. But:

    Daggerfall: 2000+ hours
    Morrowind: 1200+ hours
    Oblivion: 800+ hours
    Skyrim: 120 hours

I must admit, Daggerfall has most hours because of the bugs/errors/crashes and occasionally I was totally lost.
But also I was dedicated to those games up to Oblivion.
Oblivion was pretty boring. NPC's had 3 lines of text in contrast to the huge walls of text and hyperlinks with more text Morrowind had. Yeah it was not spoken, but I rather have interesting things to read that listen to crappy boring speech. But still, I played Oblivion a good time.
Skyrim was a great game, but in 120 hours I did all quests, visited/explored the entire map and basically was bored to the bone after that. I tried another casual play through, but it's just more fun with other people (ie, ESO)

So if TES 6 comes out, I will play it. Perhaps more hours then Skyrim I don't know yet. But I do know if I did all this and that it's time for PvP and player interaction. You won't find that in TES 6. No, ESO will still be around alive and kickin'.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I'll play ES6, and enjoy it.
Then I'll go back to playing ESO, since they'll continue to release new DLC for it. Plus, multiplayer is fun on a whole different level than single player.

It wouldnt surprise me if ES6 was linked to ESO in someway so as to encourage non-mmo players to play some mmo and shed some cash on micro-transactions.

Tes 6 sales will never beat the numbers which crown crates generate or even the crown store in general and a tes 6 would cut into the sales of eso.

Didn't they also admitted last year that the production of tes 6 hasn't even started yet? Each game takes longer to develop and i think skyrim took around 5 years.
So even if they start immediately minimum release date would be 2023 and bethesda is still busy with other smaller titles.

I was pretty negative on ESO at the start mainly to do with mechanics, first person gameplay etc, but credit where it is due, ESO has done a lot to add to lore, story and rounding out Tamriel as a whole. TES6 will now need to work in with ESO not the other way round.
