That couple of seconds could mean that someone can steal the chest that you just killed two giants for, before you're even able to click on it. Yeah, that needs to be changed.
I have found putting your weapon away helps. Used to get stuck and not be able to open doors/chests, and one day out of the blue, I just tried it.
It worked!
Ok...it doesn't always work...for some reason in Wayrest I seem to have trouble opening one door, but it does work a majority of the time.
A work around probably, but I hope this helps!
This delay has existed since the console launch at least, and it's been annoying since the console launch at least. Doesn't make sense why one shotting a deer would cause you to remain in "combat" an additional 10 or so seconds, and makes even less sense as to how this has literally never been fixed.
Unless they're somehow treating killing a small non hostile animal the same way as harvesting a normal node. There's a general harvesting time associated with picking up ore or a rune, and it's more or less similar to the amount of time you're locked from picking things up after killing a non hostile animal, which drops resources as well.
