    Ah, a ZOS apologist.
I support most of what ZOS does, and have been called a fanboy in the past, but this race change token is purposefully misleading. It's common sense that people would expect to be able to change to any other race if they have a race change token. THAT is common sense. It would take all of five minutes for them to put a note on there explaining the connection to the any race/any alliance token, but they don't bother.

I did this too when I tried to change my Dunmer Templar into an Altmer. I just assumed since the token is a paid thing it would allow me to bypass the restrictions of character creation. I don't see how it could change anyone's faction since Any Race/Any Alliance ensures that people can be an non-alliance race without issues, and characters that race-change have already had their alliance cemented through character creation. I ended up buying the adventurer pack just to complete the change, but it was still unpleasant when I realized it wasn't going to function as expected.

tl:dr A note clarifying that the restrictions of character creation will apply would prevent a lot of headaches.

I felt a bit like that when I bought the merchant for repairs too.
Guess I should have researched a little more and not presumed that my perception of reality was truth.
Forgot to make a thread about it tho.
    Damn.

No where does it state this service requires the Any Race upgrade in order to change to a race of a different alliance. I am pissed that I just wasted the crowns and can not use it on the race I want to change to. Be warned. I feel scammed.

There should probably be a warning in place for people who are not sensible enough to realize 'the obvious'
Basically a line that says "this item cannot circumvent the need to purchase any race/any alliance as an upgrade"

Well, for many people it is kinda obvious that you will be locked to your 3 alliance races without any race upgrade, BUT I agree with the OP that it should be stated somewhere for people to avoid confusion. Anyway your best bet is to contact support and you should get refund. :)

Yup. contact support. You thought it was any race in any alliance change not any race within your alliance.

Common sense? This does imply that you are saying you are smarter than others or the original poster and in my case me as well, are less smart than you? Why is it common sense? There is a few reasons why the original poster didn't see it as a lot of other people have. Just because you and other people are knowledgeable on how Zenimax works doesn't mean, he/she, me or others know how. Now I know how Zenimax works, and they work a bit toward the sleazy side of business it seems.

After all when I saw this as well, my first instinct was I can be any race no matter what since it doesn't say that you also need the any race choice as well. So common sense? No, that is just belittling. I know that wasn't your intent.

I do agree, about doing the research. I did that. I tried google, but it was no help for me. So much for your Google search comment. I did come to the forums here and ask to make sure and thank god that the great people here on the forum here helped me so I wouldn't make a HUGE mistake. I mean after all "common sense" would say if you are paying $30 for this token and that is what one third of the price of the game you wouldn't have to buy the other "services" to get this. Common sense would tell me that Zenimax would want to have more customers and make it easier (cheaper) for them to get things what they wanted. Now I see "common sense" just means that we should think of Zenimax as money grubbing scrubs instead of trying to offer a great service where people wouldn't get upset.

It's not so easy as people are claiming it is to be. After all if that was the case, me and other people wouldn't have been asking.

I agree it should state race change within your alliance unless you have any race any alliance or just as good, charge the crowns when the change is actually made. That ensures you get exactly what you pay for.

That is why we have lawyers, and Zenimax uses them like crazy. I am actually surprised that it's not in there.

So the Imperial Edition "any race, any alliance" was a PRE-ORDER condition and now I have to find the actual upgrade.

What in the actual capital F word, over!? Can they be any more misleading and vague???

    Whatever. Lesson learned.
There is no such thing as "Imperial Edition any race, any alliance" bonus.

There was a collector's edition of the base game, which is the Imperial Edition. It added a mount, a pet and the Imperial race (which can play in any of the three alliances because it doesn't have its own).
And there was a pre-order bonus, which unlocked any of the other 9 races in any alliance.

These two features are completely separate. You can have either one of them and not have the other (like I did: I pre-ordered the standard edition and got racial unlock, but no Imperials). Today they're both available in the Crown Store, still as two different account upgrades.

Why is the consumer getting boned on every single transition "the obvious" and why are people defending what is actually obviously a confusing marketing practice when they could just as easily advocate for those who keep this game chugging along (the consumer)?

Are you joking? I need to google this? The item is a RACE CHANGE. There are no requirements listed on that service. I think you need a reality check.

ALL races are available to me, so tell me what race isn't available to me?

If ALL Races really were available to you, then you wouldn't be having this problem would you?

Personally felt it was quite obvious that a Crown Shop item would only allow me to enact a change that was allowed on my account
would not have bought a race change without having any race/any alliance,
due to the presumption that ZOS would not sell me an item that would undermine their capacity to make money off of another item

    Put 'the obvious' in quotations
due to recognition that other players may presume ZOS to be more generous with the Crown Store than they have demonstrated themselves to be

To clarify some of the foolery going on in this thread:

    Coffee is hot. Intuitive.

Race change to only 2 of 10 available race is NOT intuitive.

Howmany toons you created? It's not intuitive, common sens, you have limited access to race as faction when you create a toon, well guess what, same when you change race. If your coffee is hot At McDonalds, do people need to tell you it'S gonna be hot at Starbucks also?
