    Okay real talk.

The mechanics of mound feeding, and waiting for research were so mind bogglingly weird for a sub game or a B2P game, that it was...odd to see them still intact.

They just need to both be removed. Of course we know now why they held onto them, to move crowns. But come on. Who seriously spends crowns on these things?

yes. I mean best case scenario is that you still pay the same amount, you just don't wait for it. essentially the way mount training books work, but with gold. which is why its unlikely to happen. and I can tell you right now, after leveling 8 characters the old fashioned way with number 9 in progress. this is one of THE top reason why I'm unlikely to level another alt (and as a consequence unlikely to buy more character slots) slow speeds suck. having less bag space - sucks. and it takes too darn long to get it up to par.
    dirty worthless casual.

I will because otherwise my new PVP char is barely playable in Cyrodiil. I don't like it but I'm also not willing to wait 4 months. Crown sale comes handy.

I create a bunch of characters. Don't level them. They just sit at level 5 or whatever, parked at the stable. By the time I go to actually level them months later, their mounts are trained.

Unfortunately, that requires that I make a character before I actually want to play that character. Which is fine--I've done that for most of mine. But I also have a few characters that were impulse creations, and those are a pain to play.

    So, you know, don’t?

I have 10 toons, 5 are at CP, maybe 6 have top speed, maybe 3 have to everything for riding. I feel no obligation to go and do dailies on all of them every day or max/min my trait research realisation curves. I play a game as and when I choose with each toon different doing its own thing... this isn’t a job or some game where you can ‘win’, the prize is the pleasure of playing and there is very little in this game that is locked behind a horse upgrade.

Yeah for PVE it's just convenience. For PVP, however, speed and stamina are pretty vital.

the pleasure of playing is not so pleasurable when my character is slow as molaces, gets knocked down if someone looks at them wrong and has 60 slots less worth of bagspace. like Code above - most of my characters set unplayed for MONTHS while I leveled their mounts. why? becasue when i tried playing them, i was not. having. fun. yes, it makes that much of a difference to me, especially after seeing how much nicer it is with fully upgraded mount.

I'm literally playing LESS game as long as my mount is not updated. quality over quantity, dude. there is nothing vurtuous about holding off fully upgrading mount for 6 months. there is a hell of a lot of a difference between being not having to wait for a fully upgraded mount for 6 month (or shelling out RL cash to speed up the process) and having say.. full cadwell's gold unlocked for account after doing it on one characters. logging in once a day to pay 250 gold to a vendor is NOT content. quests are content. dungeons are content. pvp, shard collecting, etc is counting. mount is just... a bother.

its nice and all that its not important to YOU. I am NOT you.

and to reiterate. I'm fine with paying gold. i'm just really really tired of waiting to pay that gold. which means fewer alts and as a consequence? less playing the game.

I've stated in other, similar threads that I think that each mount's speed/stam/bag should be account bound, however each different mount should have to be trained independently.

Example - Brown Sorrel Horse (BSH) is at 60/60/60 on character 1, all other characters should be able to access BSH and have it be fully trained. However, if you elect to purchase a Rainbow Brite Guar (RBG), you will now have to train it up for 180 days to get the same effect. Theoretically since the mounts are account bound, you're just accessing the same mount at your account stable (different rider - same mount), but why should a completely different mount be fully trained just because a certain rider sits on top?

    That's my opinion anyway.

This is a great idea. This meets in the middle of "well we still have to train a fair amount of horses" and "Lets make this convenient for alts". I don't even pay attention to my riding skill on alts anymore, but this would make me do it. It adds value to the older horses I trained hard but rarely ride anymore and yet gives me motivation to train a new mount I'd like to ride regularly. I much rather work toward a few choice steeds that all my characters use.

I don't rp in ESO but I think it's also an RP benefit that I'd have old lady Res pass her prized steed or guar down to her nephew and other friends.

It also seems to hurt the least so long as we get to pick a mount that our current character's riding skills go on. Conceptually at least.

I'm fine with the time gate but at least let me pay the stable master up front. Here's my 45K gold. Done. Every time I log that toon in, it has an increased riding skill. It could be in order listed. Just a thought.

This will never happen though. How likely will people be to buy that new limited mount if they have to train it from scratch? Less likely than now at least. Much less probably. After all a new mount is just cosmetic change. And who wants to wait until 6 months after purchase to use the new fancy mount?
The problem is that the current concept is good easy money for ZOS. Noone will turn ESO the back because of the obligation to train on every new char. Instead many will buy the lessons imo.

Because you are training the rider and not the mount? You put a person that has never ridden a horse on top of even the most well trained horse there is and chances are that rider is going to fall before the horse gets anywhere near top speed. So if we are using logic both the rider and the horse need to be trained. So maybe split it so the rider and the horse each need thirty days of training?

And you want to see a revolt try telling PvP'rs that limited time mount they just purchased isn't going to be ready for four months. To late to change the rules now. Having to train each mount would greatly cut into the amount of new mounts players would be willing to purchase.

How many "small" things until it's completely ridiculous to play without sub? I am a subscriber but I think what we get is pretty substantial already. The craftbag alome is worth it imo. No need to push that even further. If at all it should be granted to everybody.

I wouldn't mind a Cyro-only bonus for slower horses as that would improve game experience as this benefits the whole group. But otherwise, riding skills are conveniences and not necessary for gameplay. I don't see any need to change the current system just because people are lazy and whiny.

It will stay this way... I say it as a person who has many underleveled alts in this game. And while it's annoying to level up horses on every alt, it won't change because ZOS implemented crown lessons. No matter what we vote or think (and this topic comes out frequently for a long time now) nothing will be done in this matter- it's their money we talk about after all :3

I would just like to point out that I voted for 5% increase each day. I don't log in every day. So that means I'll have to spend money on mount lessons. Which doesn't bother me because I make enough to spare.. however... that's 10 Alts I have to do it for. That is 160 bucks per toon. For 13 alts that's like purchasing a new computer to me. That's more money than I'm willing to spend on a video game I already pay monthly to play and spend 150$+ per toon. after a long hard days work I'd like to make a new toon and quest fast with it. Zos can reduce the amount of time it takes to lvl up mount stats at least or 1000 crowns should double your lessons at 20 not just 10.

They can make the xtra money they don't receive from mount lessons somewhere else. and don't get me started on crown crates.. that crap is bogus. But that's for another thread. I'd like to buy my flame mount now. I don't want to spend $1000 for just a slight chance of getting enough crown gems to buy the mount.

Zos trying to bleed you dry of your hard earned money. Sorry zos.... but if I'm buying all those crowns spending thousands on your buggy game, I want more for my time and buck. Simple as that.

quote me on this and tell me your thoughts.
