ESO Broken - Levelling

Champion Points: meant to reward players who level up when in vet level and also to help in creating custom builds.
Issue: there is a cap which is slowly increased each major update but earning CP is so easy that most players are over the cap limit.
Questions: (1) Will CP increments to cap continue until max limit is reached? (2) Is there still a benefit to have a cap limit? (3) Are there more CP changes happening in 2018?

Crafting: meant to scale with you and reward with higher quality as you reach max level (currently Vet 16 or CP 160).
Issue: character leveling is so easy that many crafting materials are never used and are collected in large quantities. Particularly, those materials on vet level that are less than CP 160 are as useful as Ta or the original green recipes.
Questions: (1) Has ESO given up on the crafting system based on levelling? (2) Why do these useless crafting materials still exist? (ex. Ta) (3) Are there in changes to improve the crafting system in 2018?

I would appreciate ESO doing something to address the issues in 2018.

I'm sure that I'm not the first or only one to bring these up but would love to hear what fellow ESO players have to say about it.

Happy Holidays!

If one has been playing the game since the beginning, there is now little challenge in leveling a new character. Agreed.

But why do you see this as a problem? If anything, I wish it were easier and simpler yet!

There is clearly a benefit to having a CP cap. For anyone who was around when CP was introduced to the game it was clear the system was broken because of the total 3600 points was available.

Some players just started grinding and it should be obvious to most that having players grind to 3600 CP creates a huge imbalance in the game.

So the CP cap will not be removed and will continue to be increased regularly. This is not an issue.

For the crafting, It does not appear Zos has given up on the crafting. It does not seem many think what you have said is an issue. Grabing for straws.

We know Zos has not given up on crafting due to the major changes and craftable sets added to the game this past year. There is no doubt for most that Zos has given up on crafting.

I’d be interested in your data that shows “most players” are over the CP cap. Please share.

Of course, ESO would have that stats on how many accounts have reached CP 690 but as a PVP player, my comment is what I have observed while in Cyrodiil. So, my comments are of course my opinion based on my experience with the game after over 2 years playing it.

Part of the reason you see more capped players in PvP is CP gives too good of an advantage there so people not yet at CP cap might either feel underpowered and steer clear from it(for the timebeing) or go grind til they do hit the CP cap.

Can you imagine just how much worse this imbalance would be with no CP cap at all? And in fact how much worse it HAD been. There were some people who happily grinded to over 1k CP while everyone else had like 200...and basically became immortal gods of Cyrodiil. Not saying they really never ever died of course but the edge so much CP was giving them was just crazy.

Champion Points: They were not always like this. They used to be uncapped. Players abused the crap out of that and imbalances set in, to the point that ZOS couldn't even make dungeons that lasted more than a day in difficulty because overfarmed CP players could solo them. They had to do something about it that wouldn't *** off everyone that had farmed so they introduced the CP cap and switched the system from a fixed EXP per CP leveling system to a sloping gradual increase in EXP for the next CP. It rewarded the no lifers far less than the old system did as there were some people with 1500 CP already.

Crafting: The old crafting system didn't work because players could farm the best mats in Cyrodil and powerlevel crafting for alts, other players, or themselves. They also once had the ability to reach Coldharbour quickly and it was FULL of stuff to steal with no guards back when stolen items gave full deconstruct XP and could actually be sold for gold. So there were tons of powerlevelers who were maxing out crafting quickly, farming millions of gold easily, and making a fortune monopolizing the crafting economy by providing everyone with the best gear back when sets didn't require X amount of traits to craft. This needed to nerfed and it was, the old mats still exist so that you can craft gear for your alts or lower level players who haven't yet reached the level needed to wear CP 160 gear.

Making Champion Points character-specific would resolve most complaints about the leveling process, whilst alienating the single-character players who like to roll alts for end-game and delighting altaholics who love to roll characters for the fun of playing the whole game with them. A reasonable compromise might well be to keep Champion Points account-wide whilst only permitting them to be allocated on level 50 characters.

I have no problem with the crafting system.

Yay, another "ESO is broken: [Insert whatever OP doesn't like about ESO]" Thread.

I quit ESO for 5 months because I hated the old vet system and the old mat system. It was a ridiculously grindy system that resulted in you grinding for Vet level gear that you would eventually have to discard because within one or two vet levels, they were crap and then finding highest tier mats being out of reach for everyone except people who spent enormous amount of time and effort grinding for either the mats or the gold to buy them. It was a high cost (especially in player's time) to low returns system and it was very bad. I was so relieved they did away with it, it was one of the reasons I returned to the game and I never want to go back to that. I've gotten to cp160 and I don't care I how much voidcloth sitting in my craft bag that I'll never use. If ZOS reverted to that old system where the end game become all about grinding for gear or gold to get gear, I'll go play something else.

This relates to why i like the CP as is--there needs to be some reward to getting your toon to CP160, and namely, that you can focus on playing end game content rather than grinding to max level. The account wide CP I think encourages less grind and more playing. And I honestly do not understand people who think MMOs have to be grindy. More grinding doesn't make better players. Quite teh opposite, I find, tbh.
PC-NA since 2015. Tired and unimpressed.

It's amazing that some players believe ZOS should cater to long-term players and shaft new players. Because sure, long-term players have high CP, but new players coming in have ZERO. I think many new players quit early because they see even CP 690 as too difficult and time-consuming to achieve. I am perfectly OK with CP as it's done now, raised 30 pts every quarter.... and I am over the cap,

I wouldn't mind if one day we see this in the patch notes:
    • Cloth crafting from CP10-140 will now use just one material: Void Cloth
    • All of the existing CP10-CP90 clothier mats in your bank and inventory will be automatically converted to Void Cloth

(And the same for the other equipment crafts.)

It's pretty ridiculous that the 10 minutes it takes me to complete a random normal is all the time that it takes for me to level from CP10 to CP40 and completely skip an entire mat tier permanently for that account.

CP is broken, but not for the reason you mentioned.

It is broken because when I want to get my friends to start playing, they quickly realize 50 isn't the level cap, and to be competitive with other players, they will need to play the game for months on end or spend hundreds of hours grinding mindless zombies - and most say 'f this' and quit.

So if you want to starve the game of new players to replace those that leave over time, go ahead and suggest they uncap CP so the people who have played solid for years and / or have no life and can find the time to grind for hundreds of hours have a substantial power advantage over those joining the game at this point in time.

I really wish they would just uncouple gear from CP level so they would be able to increase mob and gear levels.
