Fix Pledge of Mara

Please fix the Pledge of Mara to make it useful, or at-least update the description so that people are not blindsided by the fact that the way it SAYS it works and the way it ACTUALLY works are very different.

I would also like a refund on my 1000 crowns for being lied to.

I, too, have heard that vague hostility is the best way to get results. A+ performance!
"I haven't really played much yet, but lemme tell you all about how the game should include X and be a lot more like Y!" - Half the posters on this forum.
"I've been here for years, and lemme tell you all about how they should never change or evolve Z, because then the game would be ruined forever." - The other half of posters on this forum.

Not that you would bother, but if you'd looked into the OP's complaint for just a few seconds you'd see that they describe the issue in detail months ago, and today's thread is a result of 5 months with absolutely zero response:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/360916/problems-with-and-improvements-to-pledge-of-mara

What you and a lot of frustratingly dismissive posters seem not to realize is that a LOT of the complaints and angry posts are in fact followups to issues extensively reported and documented, that go with zero resolution or comment for week after week after month after month.

ESO's worst enemy is its own community, constantly trying to protect the company whose job it is (ostensibly) to address the concerns of its users. (See also posted today, someone frustrated at Magplar's damage being broken--an issue months old, "being looked into" since months ago, and users take the time to enter these threads and tell the users "Nah"...as if this is helpful or anything but crap posting: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/385660/zos-pls-buff-dps-magplars).

Hey. Thanks for that. Seriously. Decent people are a rarity online. Props to you for being awesome.

I fell for it too, thought it would be great for my husband and I since we often quest together, but was very disappointed that you only will get the xp if you wear the ring, giving up a precious ring slot.

It just sits in my bank now, and was used for only a very short time (maybe about 10 levels) before I had to replace it with a set jewelry.

Kind of sad that this issue has never been addressed, as it was a nice idea, however not so much when you can only gain the XP bonus if you both wear the ring. This really was quite misleading when we used our crowns to purchase this because I agree, it never said the xp was bound by wearing the ring only. We were both already around level 30 something when we purchased this, so really was a waste of crowns.

This is exactly what happened to my wife and I. I never received any response for ZOS...

This issue really needs addressed because the description in the crown store says nothing about a ring.

Congratulations to ZOS - You have set a new record. After 6 months of no response in any way to my concerns about the Pledge of Mara, it took you 23 minutes to close the thread after I tried to re-engage about the issue, sighting the reason that "Since you have created a new thread...".

At least this confirms that you actually read this new thread, though all that says is that you know it exists and have chosen to ignore it.

    Where is the accountability?

To be clear, I'n not calling out any particular person. This is a systemic issue with how ZOS operates. This kind of behavior is unacceptable from a business and needs to be corrected immediately.

    Hi there,

Simply put, necro'ing threads is a form of bumping, which is a violation of our forum rules. So if an older thread is resurrected (such as the other one), we close it and redirect to a newer thread (this one) on the same issue. As moderators, it's our job to keep the forums organized and free of clutter. If there are multiple threads on the same issue, we aim to consolidate them into one if possible.

    Thanks for understanding.

I mean, you're right, I wouldn't bother. Because apparently the initial thread is 5 months old, meaning nobody cared enough to respond to it in ages, and I typically only come here to check out the "recent" tab when the game isn't loading. Also, there's nothing wrong with the rings. Pretty sure Pledge of Mara existed before XP scrolls/potions/seasonal boosts existed, and of course you'd have to wear the rings in order to use the effects.

I mean, if anyone'd looked into the issue for just a few seconds, they'd see that this has been the way Pledge of Mara has always worked, and that it's a pretty obsolete feature since it's easily outclassed by other XP boons. If you're gonna gripe about people not reading/researching, start with the folks who get "duped" by clearly-defined mechanics that everyone else noticed or learned about ages ago. :unamused:

i agree that this is an old topic...the pledge of mara has not changed at all since launch, but it would be nice and not much trouble on zos' end to change the tooltip to better inform the consumer of what it actually does. that is not much to ask and ppl will not feel like they are lied and/or fall into the trap of a obsolete feature...i feel this feature should really only be for rp purposes and not actually used for gameplay purposes. the exp bonus while wearing the ring is extremely minimal and is superceded by scrolls or pots.

how did you not realize you need to wear the ring? lol Ive always known that, I didn't even realize what you were talking about ( the misleading part) until your second post.

don't get me wrong a lot of tooltips need to be fixed, and maybe this could be more clear. But Ive never heard anyone having this issue. so refund? or user error?

    Edit: Typo

How did I not realize it?

How about because it says NOTHING about the rings in the crown store description. AT ALL. The only place the rings are mentioned is when you go to actually use the scroll you already bought. Only then does it tell you that rings are part of the deal, and that they MUST be worn.

I wouldn't be so upset if they had just said from the start that the pledge requires rings, but in the only description you can get of the pledge and how it works before spending the crowns on it does not mention that at all. If it had I simply wouldn't have spent the crowns on it and would have moved on with my life. This is a pure bait and switch though, because the only description available to you prior to spending money is, intentionally or not, misleading and woefully inept.
