I know one person across my 5 guilds who actually digs them up. So she gets every one of mine in the mail. A few months after starting the game, I stupidly bid on, and won, 50 treasure maps in a guild auction. I dug about 30 of them up and never got a single item worth selling on a guild trader. It was all trash.
So I changed my strategy and decided that, from now on, I'll only dig up chests in zones that I know have valuable drops...Spriggan's, Plague Doctor's, Necropotency, etc. I've been doing that for about 6 months...and have yet to pull one of those valuable pieces.
I'm not going to spend 10 minutes porting to a zone, riding to a spot, and digging it up for a green Amulet of Spell Cost Reduction any more.
Just curious, what people did with treasure maps.

I tend to mix them with surveys. also have an mod who show locations of surveys and treasure maps.Dapper Dinosaur wrote: »I don't know why people throw them away. 2 or 3 times a month, I gather up the treasure maps and surveys that I have, and collect what they have. Doesn't take to long with the add-on, and generally get around 50K gold.
In the time it takes to pull up the location of the treasure maps on google, load into the zone they're in, navigate to the general area, find the spot, dig it up, and then leave the zone, you could just do one stealing lap around Riften or any other good theft location and make 5x the amount of gold, and work your way towards that 1 million fenced gold achievement and dye.
I destroy every treasure map I get, without hesitation.
