✭✭✭✭Im absolutely baffled how ZOS could implement this event and not think to themselves. We should make sure everyone at least gets something worth running the event for. They know 100% no one is running it for that extra undaunted key or treasure map. They know it and we know it, those are trash drops to further extend players participation in the event. I would not be surprised if the vast majority of players are in your shoes OP. That the entire event will be a disappointment. And thats a shame.
Hopefully they see this feedback and do something about it before the New Life Festival. ✭✭✭✭✭On the second day of the event, I opened 14 boxes on my main account on the NA server. Got nothing. That same day, I opened two boxes on the EU server and got both the dog and the horse.
I think that's what makes this event so frustrating--imagine if that happened to two friends instead. Getting screwed by RNG is pretty bad, but then having to watch those around you get stuff while you get the shaft is just salting the wound.

The drop rates are abysmally low. Rather than changing the drop rates to go with the original misleading text description of the event, they just went back and edited the text description of the event instead.

✭The purpose of the Event is to frustrate PvE'ers looking for cosmetics to give up on the mystery box rng and reward quality to the breaking point at which they give up and spend $ in the crown store on something else.

✭Running 9 toons each day. I only got the dog, and the Chef and Treasure Hunter costume so far. Seems pretty paltry, especially sine all I wanted from the start was the damn blacksmith costume. Doesn't seem like much to ask. I'm a ESO+ subber and didn't get the legendary boxes we were promised on either day we were suppose to get them, so I feel pretty cheated there, especially with the number of people I've seen say they've gotten all the costumes, the dog and one mount.
I think they need to work on more guaranteed prizes. Something like do X number of randoms and you are guarantee a Legendary box, provided of course they can make good on that promise, seeing they didn't with what they promises ESO+ subbers for this event.Edited by jssriot on December 5, 2017 8:04PMPC-NA since 2015. BostonTroy✭✭I ran through ~8-10 characters a day and got most of what I wanted.
All 4 costumes (shaman, blacksmith, cook, treasure hunter), the imperial dog and mount, two aetherial dust, and probably 6 CWC recipes, including a nice Clockwork City Sequence Spool one and a large CWC Paste Dispenser.
Lots of treasure maps, mimic stones and undaunted keys (basically these are useless at my level).
Besides fighting with the group finder and having to carry way to many level 10-20s through dungeons on my top dps characters, It was enjoyable. Got to run dungeons on my crafters or side characters that I've done very little with, so that was interesting.
Overall, I wish there had been a great variety of rare mounts that we could get, and the group finder worked better, but largely satisified.0 -

The system would actually be super easy: let people loot stuff from dungeons, or give them some form of currency for the event they can use to buy rewards. This means you're guaranteed something if you do a bunch of dungeons and don't luck out with RNG. ✭✭✭✭✭Hell, they could have created new costumes based on existing motifs that haven't gotten them, to pad out the drop tables with neat looking stuff. Motifs like Dwemer, Glass, Worm Cult, Lich, and Draugr have never featured in costumes. There would have even been the possibility for alliance swapping costumes for the alliance motifs.
They could then turn around and roll those out later on, if they wanted to.
Best of all, they could even do this with tiered rarity, so you'd have things like Ebony, Ebonshadow, Dro'M-athra (which we know exists), or Apostle as rare possible drops.
So, far as that goes, they could have simply included the motif page and style stone drop lists from the anniversary event, even that would have been an improvement. It's not just that the cool things were rare, it's also that the consolation prizes were, at times, singularly underwhelming.
I mean, so far as it goes, simply including boxes with random purple/gold dungeon jewelry would have been a huge boon on this event.1 -
