Rivenspire is pretty great. Very different vibe from the rest of the DC storyline and it puts Emeric in a questionable light. My only complaint about that region was the supernatural element of Vampires. I felt like it took center stage of the whole civil war when there is some really juicy lore behind the different noble families involved there. And that the backstory to these families, the civil war, the possible claimants to the throne and Ransers questionable claim to the throne would have been a better focus for the region. The region already felt over run with vampires and instead of something that could be stopped. It felt like the region had already fallen to the curse. So it feels more like a generic fight your way through mobs sort of storyline.
If I could have changed things and made the vampire thing more of a goal of Wylons rather than something that had already come to pass. It would of focused more on the drama and the politics revolving around the noble houses of Rivenspire.
    • Wylon Montclair (the antagonist) turning out to be the secret true heir to the Rivenspire throne would of been a much better plot twist rather than Verandis being the source of the curse. And would make his actions a little more sympathetic as hed have been fighting for a righteous cause. And it would be his actions during that civil war that would ultimately condemn him.
    • Rumors of Tarths being secret claimants to the throne would of been an interesting bit of misinformation or red herring and made the option for a Tarth sitting on the throne a bit more acceptable for the player when they made the choice. Choosing to believe the rumors rather than having it hidden away in a book and making it a This or That sort of choice.
    • Dorells could of been a more Lannister type of house that was willing to do what was necessary, but they walked a fine line between the greater good and outright wrong. Allowing players to choose between a more diplomatic leader like the young Tarth, or a more seasoned warrior like leader in Lord Dorell.
    • Ultimately adding some depth to these houses history between each other and what they stood for, not just the immediate actions of the characters could of played a part in the players decision making. Giving them the impression their choice was more informed and had more weight and consequence.

    Personal thoughts.

The map sucked. The weird shape where you had to go past the coast. Fun quest though.

That's the sort of stuff I'd preferred. Like I said before the Bretons seems like a generic fantasy people. While that doesn't exactly change it would be more interesting to actually get to see how complex their politics are as well as their scheming with almost everything. I remember when I first started the game in the Covenant and the Prophets said something about waking smelling bread and conspiracy (I can't remember his exact phrasing) I thought this is going to be good. I'm not going to be able to trust a single character I meet here probably. I then proceeded into Dungeon and Dragon human race society. Even the first foe we run into is a Reachmen and not a Breton conspiring against his fellows. Rivenspire may be the first time we actually got into that side of them and instead, vampires. Like vampires have never been done before. I'd had been happy with a Vampire the Masquerade type slant since they didn't give it to the Bretons.

They're still my favorite race just before Altmer culture. They definitely seemed to have the backstory of a Games of Throne type culture switch we unfortunately rarely glimpse. In fact when i first learned about them that's what popped into my head. I just don't think vampires are interesting especially these ESO type that seem to have no lore behind them (I know there's lore but it must be in a book and not the game).

Was one of me favorite zone related stories, however.. playing through it again at a later time as a vampire just kinda ruined it for me.

Only went to Rivenspire to farm Ysgramor set even then I hated the terrain etc

You and the 2 people who agreed with you are confused. Ysgramor is in The Rift, not Rivenspire. (-‸ლ)

Never thought much of Rivenspire. It was a pain in the [snip] to navigate. It’s still a pain in the [snip] every time I have to bring a new character through there. Auridon, Alik’r Desert, Grahtwood, Vvardenfell, and now the Clockwork City are my favorites for ambiance.

You think Rivenspire is difficult to navigate, but you like Grahtwood? Hmm...
