I am pretty sure the devs/desginers who did the lore, quest, ambience, music.... must have really put their hearts and souls into that zone.

That was one hell of an experience and I am very much impressed.

Thanks so much! The team loved seeing this thread.

You can give the world building team my thanks too, I love the design of all the zones. They all feel different and all have that alive feeling. The details, esp in the newer zones are amazing.

I must admit, it's also one of my favorite zones for its main questline - one of the few I've completed on two alts.

Shornhelm is also my "home city" - I like how everything I use is right around the wayshrine: bank, crafters, refuge, etc... And the Alchemist and Enchanter shops are also easy to access. It's the town I almost always port to when I need to use any service (it replaced Davon's Watch for me).

I don't often look up in this game. Rivenspire is the zone that started me doing that. The skylines in that zone are incredible.

All the zones are nice, but this one is somehow inspiring.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Rivenspire IMO is one of the better designed zones. The main quest line, the side quests and the terrain all fit together nicely. Shornhelm is still one of my favorite cities, (I think I still have an alts or 2 parked there.) The main quest is so well written that while you're doing it, you really feel like you're in a race against time.

Oh yeah, I've finished this zone two weeks ago and I had same feeling. I never liked vampires, but Verandis and his friends are epic. Zone with the best storyline and music so far in my opinion (without DLCs).

One thing I always loved about Rivenspire is how much the land changes. Coming from questing in Stormhaven, a generally green and lush area, you enter into the contrast of unusually bleak and desolate terrain. But as you progress through the land it slowly moves to a greener farmland area and eventually a nice coastal section. It's an intriguing landscape very unlike other zones.

I also agree that the questline there is fantastic. Kept me quite interested, even now while running it a sixth time on a newer alt character.

I'm ashamed to admit it took me until I decided to go through DC on one of my alts to notice that the Doomcrag is "active" until you clear it. Spooky ominous clouds and red glowing.

I like how it's also a central fixture of the zone, and how you can see it from almost anywhere. Kinda like Red Mountain and White-Gold Tower.

Heh, I took about 30 screencaps last night when I stepped outside the Shornhelm bank with an alt to get a closer look at my new clockwork mouse pet and then noticed that the sky was going crazy with pink lightning. "Oh hey, Doomcrag." I don't think I've ever seen it light up so much. It was pretty spooky and impressive to see.

Yep, that's one of the reasons I liked Rivenspire as well. While the landscape taken out of context is sort of dead/plain, taken in context with the story, it actually felt like there was a real problem that needed to be fixed. And part of that is definitely the clearly visible Doomcrag looming over the entire zone.

It's one of the few storylines I remember with a fair bit of detail - even after completing almost two years ago.

Some more love for Rivenspire - I finished my Covenant Hero achievement and it was by far my favorite set of quests. I also own Ravenhurst, so I'm biased that way too.

Also Shornhelm has some awesome thieving, I always pick up something special there.

Rivenspire is my favourite zone story. I'm not normally one for dark and creepy stuff, but Rivenspire had me hooked - I still remember pulling an all-nighter because I wanted to know how it ended!! I think the build up, pace, atmosphere, and characters were all really well done. I got really attached to House Ravenwatch in particular, I would love to see them all again someday.

I found this zone interesting mainly due to Necropotence set items dropping there. Playing there just made me rich. I won't pretend the zone is more special to me than any other, it's just gold-related more than others.

For me much more interesting is Stonefalls or Bal Foyen, because of this wonderful feeling of playing in Morrowind, when real Morrowind is far away. I'd like to thank devs for this little part of Island on the continent. And for Skyrim maps, very climatic with beautiful music, so far my favourite.

Speaking of the Gold Coast - the approach to the DB sanctuary, when riding from the wayshrine... Best. Entrance design. Ever. You cannot see the're a gap there until you're right next to it. It's as if the mountain splits up as you approach. And you can't see the door either until you're well into that small corridor.

Even after all this time, every time I ride there, it's strikes me as awesome. I don't know if it was intentionally designed that way (I suspect it probably was), but kudos to whoever designed it.

I said it in 2014 the first time I played through that zone, that Rivenspire was the the best Zone and quest line in the game. I still go there to play and hunt and explore thanks to OT. I still think it is the best zone in the game.

I love the ambiance of Rivenspire and the storyline.

One bit of constructive criticism though.
it would have been really interesting if Count Chocula recognized the fact that I was a vampire. That might have opened up some cool dialogue paths. Plus it's just kind of strange that an ancient vampire doesn't immediately recognize a fellow vampire.

Loved it as well except for what happened to Janeve. Every time I do that quest I want an option so the result is a change of sisters for the end or at least a way to save her. You deserve better than that Janeve.

Rivenspire was very well done. Nice build up of main line, nice intergration of (most) side quests.

I remember taking a sneak peak up there as a level 16ish (well before CP and scaling) and getting the crap kicked out of me by harpies.

You say that as if it's a bad thing ;)

On the contrary - what I was saying is that it definitely fits a DC / Breton zone more than an Elf or Nord Zone. It just seems like an afterthought plopped into the middle of the other two factions
