1st Time Playing an MMO or Not?

pdebie64b16_ESO✭✭✭No, this is not my first MMO.My first mmo was Dark Age of Camelot back in 2001, loved that game, great pve (much harder then ESO) and probably the best RvR (PvP) experience i have, played it for more the 8 years.
Tried many other mmo's but most were garbage, the only mmo's i liked besides ESO are EVE online, UO and Darkfall.0 -

✭✭Yes, this is my first MMO.I was never into MMOs, but decided to give ESO a try since I very much liked Oblivion and Skyrim.
Same, tried a few other MMOs afterward but found them rather boring compared to ESO.

Yeah, but I'm glad because the trend followed my needs. During college I had plenty of time, and therefore EQ's difficulty made sense. But then I started working and my time became limited. Then MMO got easier and easier, so I started playing again. The one thing I loved about DAoC was the combat system "combos". You could do insane amounts of damage by chaining different attacks together (most also had positioning requirements). My Valewalker was a non-stop damage machine.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭No, this is not my first MMO.My first was Ultima Online. I also tried Runescape and Everquest of course but couldn't get into them.
I quit that game because I started working part-time and was going to university and wasn't able to commit as much time as it needed, especially not on a regular basis so I could meet up and play with an established group and participate in the wider community, which is what it really needed.
I thought I'd never be able to play an MMO because of that, but while I was at university my brother introduced me to Guild Wars 1 - a game with no subscription (meaning I didn't have to predict how much time I'd have over the next month or risk wasting money buying time in a game I'd never be able to play) and with a number of other features that made it ideal for what would later come to be called 'casual gaming'.
By the time ESO was announced I'd tried several more games (City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online etc.) but the only other one I'd stuck with was Guild Wars 2.
I played the ESO betas but for various reasons didn't actually buy the game until the mandatory subscription was dropped. I've been here pretty much ever since, but still with the aforementioned unpredictable free time.
I wish I had played Ultimate Online, but my dad would've killed me if I did.
I was lucky - my parents were actually the ones who introduced me and my siblings to video games, originally with their ZX Spectrum so they were pretty willing to let us play whatever, within reason. We weren't allowed to play Doom before breakfast because my mum said it sounded like someone throwing up when the monsters died, and the computer was always in the living room so they could see what we were doing.
But they were fine with us talking to people online and playing online games, as long as the subscription fee came from our pocket money. BigBadVolk✭✭✭✭✭Other.well kinda, my first MMO was WoW on a hacked server but I only played it for a week then got bored of it, then tried Guild Wars and SWTOR too I played 1 week of them too got bored. The combat system of ESO and the lore and later endgaming kept me staying here for 3 years now

✭✭✭✭✭No, this is not my first MMO.I played WoW for a year, LOTRO for 8 years, and GW2 for about 2 months. Man, I loved LOTRO... too bad the devs turned it into such a grind fest. It makes me laugh when people complain about the gear grind here. Imagine the frustration of not only grinding to get your RNG armour drops, but then also grinding for up to four essences (i.e. your armour stats) to slot into each armour piece, while also levelling up your legendary weapons. The only way to have alts was to no-life the game and/or spend large amounts of money in the cash shop to reduce the time spent grinding. 1 -

after quitting that i waited for a good mmo to come to consoles. then finally, ESO was born.0
