XBox One X - Will it help?

Hey everyone, it’s been a while. I haven’t played much over the last few months mostly due to simply being tired of Cyrodiil crashes and the like.

I’m thinking of picking up a XBox One X in hopes that it rekindles ESO for me, but $500 for that and more for a new 4K TV isn’t exactly chump change. Can anyone point me to any statements ZOS had made on the subject? I can only find vague stuff from a few months back.

Also, no I’m not going to PC and no you can’t have my stuff. Thanks!

So, no free stuff? *sobs gently*

In all seriousness though, I too am interested in knowing if the new console will help alleviate some of the issues that I have with ESO, especially the fact that I crash if I even think about going near Vivec City, Orsinium, Abah's Landing, etc...

Personally I wouldn’t buy it for hopes of improved Cyrodil experiences.

Consider this system by design is first and foremost setup to provide graphical and audio improvements.
The developers get to decide how, but PC, and PS4 Pro customers complain so for sanity, this purchase should only be in the mindset of possible 1440p or so and higher graphical options only not with any performance expectations

I’ll add that it appears something is causing the devs not to offer a 2160p native presentation so.....maybe wait if you’re on the fence for one game

Xbox NA and can confirm I crash EVERY SINGLE TIME i go to a DLC area for the first time in a day on a character. It is incredibly frustrating when these areas were where I had to go to do daily quests every day to complete my motif sets. The number of crashes to the Xbox dashboard i have experienced while playing this game must be approaching the 1000's. I too am hoping the new Xbox will alleviate some of these issues along with having to wait for NPC's and crafting stations to load in crowded cities while i stand there like an idiot. I will also throw in an obligatory mention of all the hourly crashes in Cyrodiil but we are all aware of this by now.

The increased memory of the console, coupled with the supposed improvements to memory usage made by ZOS in the clockwork update should give a noticeable improvement, yes.

It will help FPS obviously, probably less mandatory crashes every other hour of play do to memory issues.

Will it help the game server's general latency? No.

Just remember....the Xbox One X isn’t playing the same Xbox one version today.....so no one should interpret this as better hardware will lead to better performance. That idea only applies to games that received no Xbox One X enhancements at all

As a long time player on Xbox who did switch to PC, I can tell you what I did to improve my Xbox One's ESO performance tenfold!

Xbox One's biggest bottleneck is it's 5400 RPM Hard Drive. If you are thinking about investing $500 into the Xbox One X, which if I remember correctly, has the same grabage Hard Drive in it.

Why not spend $130-$150 on a Solid State Drive instead? This cut my Xbox One load times into highly populated areas like Stormhaven-Wayrest from ~40 seconds, to ~10 seconds.

I guess IF you have cash running from every pocket, you could do both the Xbox One X, and buy a Solid State Drive. Therefore getting the graphical enhancement of the Xbox One X, and the huge performance boost of the Solid State Drive!

Here is a Youtube link with installation info, and links to purchasing the necessary hardware. WARNING! You need to buy at least a 256GB+ SSD in order for it to be compatible with your Xbox One. I bought the 500GB Samsung linked in his video description.
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=t4evch303C4

    Disclaimer-
By upgrading to a SSD you can expect much faster load times, a small improvement to the frame loss from massive PVP battles and less disconnects in Cyrodiil.

What not to expect- Anything higher than the 30 FPS the Xbox One is capped at, a better graphical experience, and perfection.

The Xbox One still has a poor CPU and moderate at best GPU, so upgrading one element for the system doesn't mean you're suddenly a PC gamer.

    Hope this helps! -Kypran

I love how I get paid a lot of money to work in IT and random posters (who are probably teenagers) drop knowledge that makes my head spin.

For future reference gamers ... if you’re smart enough to know the correct way to upgrade your XBox’s hard drive then you should be making 100k a year with one of the major cable or telephone companies.

    Seriously.

Yeah, sadly I purchased a 2TB HDD back when my Xbox One's internal HDD was nearing capacity. It's still fine for games that don't put alot of stress on your HDD, like Call of Duty, Battlefield, and many other non-open world games. All games will see a performance boost, but Open-World games are like to see the largest performance boost.

100%. Seriously. I’ve been in the telecom industry for almost 15 years. You exhibited more knowledge of current set ups then 90% of the engineers and 99% of the sales departments in just that one post. At 36 I’m still one of the youngest people in my industry and all of these companies pay great and a significant majority of them have workforce’s in their 50s that no longer can keep up.

If you study up on SD WAN you could have a job paying almost 100k fairly easily.

The SSD definitely helps load times and some other things but a lot of the issues were not resolved for me as I was told that regardless of how fast the ssd can perform, the cpu and gpu still have to process it......that and what seems to be internet based or server based impacts that were not resolved even by moving to a 1gig Google Fiber ISP

    Likely not.

The problem has allways been, a bottleneck on both ends.

The server bottlenecks because of the sheer ammount of people it has to account for, passives, skills, gear configs, ect.

The game bottlenecks because it has a CPU bottleneck and allways has.

The game and the servers have fundemental problems.

The memory leaks problem happens so often and everywhere in the game, especially in vivec city. It's been 2 months, ZOS still haven't fixed it yet.

And very time I post glitch thread here, PPL always say "Hey, look at this guy, he always complain...complain everything." I am too tired to argue with those losers. Losers deserve shxtty product always cuz they never complain.

Some issues can be related to the sub par CPU/GPU, especially in large scale PVP battles, trials, and the Alik'r dolmen grind. I still did see a massive performance boost in PVP when upgrading to a SSD, though there will still be issues when zerglings pour into the area spamming AoE's.

The servers can be finicky at times too, but as someone who used to play ~15 hours a day on Xbox, i can say there is a lot less server issues than most people think.

If you're using internet with a wireless connection, consider getting a landline connection with an Ethernet cord.

I will edit my original post to clarify exactly what type of performance boosts you can expect from upgrading to a SSD.

    Thanks.
I’m debating going to the newer Samsung T5 500 gig model now.
    It can’t hurt right :-)

Oh and while this isn’t funny, but sometimes you gotta laugh. So Google Fiber forces you to use their hardware unlike my other ISP so this freaking Xbox one S gets faster upload/download wired using a cat6 cable obviously, however, this game only.....literally just this game....performs better when I’m wireless vs wired.

I tried swapping cables, and different ports as well as UPnP off/on and port forwarding and no port forwarding.
    . Any ideas there?

Xbox one s detailed results wired are: (no port forwarding with UPnP on)
    348 Mbps down
    726Mpbs up
    0% packet loss
    1480 mtu

*ISP can’t seem to identify why my download is lower than my upload on all wired devices.

    Wireless results: (5 gig band)
    132 Mbps down
    73 Mbps upload
    0% packet loss
    1480 MTU

    US

Comcast, Verizon and Spectrum could all use all of your help. I don’t work with AT&T much but I would imagine they are no different. This goes twice as much for any VoIP carrier.

If you don’t have a degree but can clean yourself up enough to interview well you can find a 40k base salary job with easily achievable commissions to get you to 60k EASILY. If you have a degree add an extra 15 or 20k. I know many a telecom sales person who clears 100k with 1/100th of my IT knowledge that pales in comparison to many people I’ve met on ESO.

I’ve actually brought it up in meetings and usually get laughed at by people in thier 60s who cannot locate the open icon on their email.

I am dead serious and if someone feels so inclined IM me and I’ll send you my LinkedIn.

    1480 MTU

The newer model should be better, but i would definitely compare some benchmarks to get some backround. I've been surprised before!

As for your upload being higher than your download when wired... I have this gut feeling that for whatever reason, your Upload/Download when wired may be switching spots. As in your upload is 348 Mb/s and your download is the 726 Mb/s. If they are not just numbers and you have tested their functionality, I think your ISP may have goofed somewhere.

I’ll keep bugging Google. Those are actual result from the Xbox one s screen
