I don't know the exact technicalities of it but I believe an SSD drive makes it easier for the console to pull files off the device thus increasing performance. However they are more expensive so if you want pure storage you can get a 2tb normal hard drive for cheaper than a 256 gb solid state. I already have a normal 2tb portable HD that does nothing for performance so I'm going to try and get a 256 gb SSD and put ESO on it and see what happens.

Even though I have a 1080p TV, the game still looks a fair amount better than on my original Xbox.More importantly. whereas before I would get single digit FPS in some trial encounters, I now get no discernible drop in the frame rate. I am very happy with the purchase.

How do people even know if it runs better, the games been broken since CWC
I'm a PVE roleplayer concerned about my vampires stage 4 skin tone and keep getting load screens so I came here to distract people from major issues with a rant thread about my characters cosmetic appearance.

I play PvP every day and do vet trials every couple of days. I dont have any lag, my fps stays stable and i still havent got a dc or dashboard. Getting a one x with ssd was the best decision I have made in a long time!

You're right. Its hard to fully test it out right now. So far it does feel smoother and the only issues I'm having is the load screen problem. That could be because of the lack of players in Vivec though.

Got my XBOX One X going yesterday.

    -Images are more sharp.
-I can see more detail in things (Roads, water, etc, etc)
-I thought the vegetation looked much improved
-I do not have a frame rate monitor on console. I can tell you the game move smoothly
    - I do not own a 4K TV and I see these improvements. I went back and forth between my Xbox1 and my XBOX1X and there is a nice difference even on my 1080P TV.

    Prior to the XB1X
-As I stated before I purchased this drive "https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073H552FK/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1"
-Running this game on the external SSD. I cannot say enough the difference this makes. XB1X was just icing on the cake.

I did a further test in Vivec city which is a place that is almost a drop to desktop area for me. I ported in on the Temple wayshrine and just started sprinting on the horse right away around the temple. Had no issues. I tried and tried to get the game to kick me to console screen and I could not make it happen. I put all of this on the SSD.

I will report back once they fix PVP (Load Screens) and I can get back in there to see how the load times and battle performance is.

I am going to test PVP anyways since they have a thread going about it. I wonder if most of the loading screen issues are just the limitations of the Xbox One HDD.

    XB1X
    External SSD T5 USB 3.0

I was not in a group

-Ported into Eastern gate from Velyn Harbor - No issues
-Ported to Blue raod- No isssues (did not engage the enemy)(No fighting happening in the area)(One AD ally at the keep)
-Ported to Allessia- No issues (did not engage the enemy)(No fighting happening in the area)
-Ported to Eastern Gate - No issues (did not engage the enemy)(No fighting happening in the area)
-Ported to Farygel - No issues (did not engage the enemy)(No fighting happening in the area)
-Ported back to the eastern gate- No issues (did not engage the enemy)(No fighting happening in the area)
-Ported to Roebeck - No issues (did not engage the enemy)(No fighting happening in the area)(Several AD allies)
-Ran up to Nickle where there was some fighting. Let the zerg wash over me, then blood spawned to Roeabeck - No issues
-Waited for blue zerg at Roebeck. stood my ground on inner keep up stairs(eastern oil rail), zerg kills me, blood spawn to
eastern gate - Infinite load screen

Overall load times from keep to keep are drastically improved with the SSD installed. The difference is so astounding it is hard to believe it even when I am watching it happen. Took on average 5.4 seconds load time between keeps. Also keep in mind none of these keeps had enemies in the area. I would think this would slow my times down if there were. There were some friendlies around in some of these areas.

general day to day stuff is much better. fights in dungeons no longer lag out to 1-2fps. the xb1x doesnt suffer any lag in that respect. loading screens are pretty much within <5 seconds and ive only had 1 infinate one (not tried cyrodill)

SSD - data is stored on interconnected flash memory chips that retain the data even when there's no power present. Basically a flash drive.

HDD -This a a disk that spins up and down at a max RPM of 7200 or so. The head uses magnetic's to write to the disk. Info is written to the first available section on the disk so the data for one thing can be spread out throughout the whole disk.
