As the above say, can you fix this or do we have to download 40 gb, if so are you going to refund the cost?

    Look a bit like pc needed to be restarted, no idea why probably as launcher messed up and did not release files it needed as it complained files was locked
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Each patch I am sent in an annoying loop of "repairing" the patch as it would either give me the "access denied" or completes the patch but nothing happens when I click play. I have to do repair over and over for over an hour and if I don't give up, it would somehow get "fixed". This has got to stop.

    I am having the same issue. Everything was fine yesterday. Today, it did not even prompt to update, just gave the option for repair, and now it is repairing over and over, and I cannot play.

    I don't even get that. It's hogging all my computer disk, freezing up my entire PC and yet STILL getting stuck at 29%.

    Repaired twice. Downloaded the 40G and now working on applying patch to 50g? What kind of crap is this, and why are we not getting help?

    Ugh, I am stuck in the same place as well. I repaired it once and it was quick, but now I crash as soon as I hit "play" and have to repair again, and the 40G is going super slow, like I am being throttled because I have already done the 40g once.

    Every patch this happens, I get sent in a repair loop, on old pc and on my new pc.

    Having so much trouble with ESO today. FOUR attempts to download the client have put me 30 GB over my monthly allowance somehow (when the update was supposed to be 3.6 GB?).

    Now I can log in but get stuck in an endless loading screen. NA or EU server, same problem. 32-bit or 64-bit client, same problem.

    I don't understand how I've gone 30 GB over my monthly allowance in a period of about 3 hours from 9pm to midnight. Something is very wrong.
    Guildmaster of the UESP Guild on the North American PC/Mac Server 2350+ CP & also found on the European PC/Mac Server 1700+ CP

    I'm now repairing the client for the fifth time. Somehow I don't think repairing the client is the right thing to do, but I desperately need sleep and I can leave the program downloading.

    For anyone still running into issues with either the launcher stuck loading or it repeatedly downloading the update, you will want to try the troubleshooting found here and here.     @ZOS_BillE What should I try specifically for the problem I mentioned whereby my Launcher log is full of "Invalid application version" errors?

    1) The Adding Anti-virus and firewall exceptions section of your notes is irrelevant for me since we have a home network and the firewall is on our Linux machine. (Also I've been playing ESO since 30th March 2014 without a break, and the only change to my PC and/or network in the past 24 hours is the new ESO patch.)

    2) I've repaired the Launcher five times already, using up more than 30 GB of data in the process yet not improving my ability to load the game. I did this in exactly the way you mentioned in your notes.

    3) I've already gone through the Run launcher and game as an administrator section of your notes, without getting past the infinite loading screen.

    What does "Invalid application version" mean? To me, it sounds like the game hasn't updated properly for some reason. Is there a more comprehensive way to repair the client?

    I do not use Steam. I bought the game on disc in March 2014. I downloaded the game fully from the official ESO website when I switched from my old Mac to my new PC in June 2015, and have simply kept that install up to date.

    If running as an administrator and the repair option are not working, and your firewall and antivirus are not blocking the game, please try the following:
    • Open the game installation directory “Zenimax Online” 
    • Open the folder named “Launcher”
    • Inside the “Launcher” folder, there is a folder named “ProgramData”
    • Delete the “ProgramData” folder
    • Open the launcher and download update
    • Click “Play”

    I have done this and it still gives error that I have sent in, same error as last patch.
