Just in time for Witches Festival, the devilishly stylish Grim Harlequin Motif is back for a limited time!

Do you like dark humor, grim but funny? We've got a stylish motif for you! As Chamberlain Haskill explains, “My Lord Sheogorath has directed me to compile a guide for those seeking to create 'Grim Harlequin' arms and armor, so that the Mad God's mortal servants may have a way to make all their equipment look the same. Of course, this standardization runs counter to all other cult practices, and is insane on the face of it. What's your point?"

The Grim Harlequin Crown Crafting Motif will be available on all platforms from October 9 to October 13.

I purchased this last year but, unfortunately, it is only available to the character I was playing... last year. Please make these crown-store-only motifs available to the account. Maybe have other characters already know this motif or if, for technical reasons, make them purchasable to other characters on the account for 0 crowns.

That's a good question! Last year, it came with 54 mimic stones, while the Stahlrim motif only came with 5 (guessing that's why the price was 2,000 Crowns). I thought they reduced the number of mimic stones due to people crafting gear with the mimic stones and then getting the style stone to sell in-game. Seems to me a better solution would have been to make the style stones bound.

But, the price is still 2,200, so it'll be interesting to see if it comes with the same number of mimic stones.

Well I got it, and looks like the bundle does inclue 54 mimic stones.

I don't do this very often anymore, mostly because it so rarely makes any difference at all. That said, it's bugging me enough that I'm gonna do it despite my own misgivings (yeah, yeah, Kevlar/NoMex is on, bring your own marshmallows, etc)...

I was intrigued to see the new (to me) crafting motif "Grim Harlequin" and I liked the way it looked enough to contemplate buying it. As usual, I asked my guilds about it and by the time they replied, not only had I lost interest, I kind of didn't even feel like playing tonight. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Delicate flower and special snowflake that I so obviously am (cough), I dislike that the style isn't available in the world; give me an arduous quest, sure, make me EARN it, baby. I'm down with it.

But to make it only available in the crown store?
AND only usable with style mats you must get from the crown store?

(Don't even bother coming in with "oh, you can decon for them, too - we all know RNGeebus ain't handing out 1 to 1 and we're damn lucky to see 1 to 10 in my anecdotal experience... no parity).

Look, @ZOS - I'm the first one in line to lay down the ol' "They're a business; business exist to make money" line. But you're not going to tell me that you're bleeding out of your damn ears for every damn penny you didn't squeeze out of me. And candidly, if you are, you ought to be SAYING that so I can approve in my passion for the lore and game what my common sense won't permit in this moment.

Respectfully, ya'll need to give monetization a serious overhaul and you could make a mighty fine start by getting SOME MANNER of content access parity in place for these purely cosmetic items.

Frankly, until you do, I'd appreciate if you could stop auto-blocking me with your dang in-game advertisements. I know how to get to your store when interested and no amount of spamming me at zone change, login, etc is going to convince me to say this kind of gouge-gating play is fun, interesting, or helpful in maintaining your reputation in my head as a company who "gets" its paying audiences.

I'm gonna go make dinner now because it's the only place I can legally set something on fire and I kind of feel that need at the moment, y'dig?

You don´t need to buy it. I didn´t buy it last year, but I bought it last night. And if you are frustrated by sitting at home and having to cook meals, well that is another story! ESO has much offers in the crown store, which you don´t need to play this game, but anyone can make his own experience grow, if he chooses to do so.
It is up to you, what you wanna do! But don´t blame ZOS/ESO for your frustation!

well that is the point with all motifs, they are only available for the char who reads it! And buying it in CS doesn´t change that! It was the first motif I bought in CS, and I don´t mind that it is only available on my crafter, cauze I don´t spoil skillpoints on other chars for crafting. the others just have points on alchemy and provisioning, nothing else.

I love

when people ask me to craft them Grim harlequin / stahlrim thing just because i have the Master crafter rank in my guild..

... Cause when i answer them that i don't know the motif i fell like in there mind they are just like " wtf , it's a master crafter or not ? " and in my mind i'm just like " wtf i have everymotif Ingame and people ask me this ... "

For the moment it's .... ok , i mean ... at least they don't just throw the good looking motif in crown store ( as we can see with the next motif coming --> ebonshadow and the other one , they are awesome ) . i still hope they won't do like they did with the Hotr skin ... throw the nicer in CS , and throw a better( and bigger ) hat in crown crate that the one we get for the 4 main bloodroot forge achievements.

No one needs to buy it, but this Motif is rather insidious.

It is like the ice cream trucks that play music up and down the streets during the summer, luring the children from their play. Separating the parents from their money. Yes, the motif is sweet, but it is a trap designed to separate you from your money.

You can only craft it with Mimic Stones, which come from the store, or Grinstones, which come from deconstructing items that were originally made with Mimic Stones. This style, unlike normal styles, cannot be crafted without the Mimic Stone tax hovering overhead. The low introductory price of 2200 Crowns is designed to pull you in. The 54 Mimic Stones that are included are designed to dull the edge on the need for Mimic Stones. ZOS know that if you like the style, or want to provide the style (or Grinstones) to others, you will be back for more Mimic Stones. 600 Crowns for 12. 1200 Crowns for 26. 2400 Crowns for another 54. It is worth 45 Crowns for every item you craft in the style.

For some people, that is fine and they accept this fact. Other people may not realize what they are buying, as ZOS does not explain how this motif is different from the others.

Let's just say I found your need to cast my complaint as other than as I stated it much more indicative of your need than of my reality.

So yeah, nice projector you got there, but I hope it came with a warranty as you clearly have a busted lens.

I kinda like it, suits my playstyle and my Char and as already mentioned coming with 54 MS it's rather "cheap"

Ugh...it's just a motif, and guess what? Unlike all the other cosmetic items in the CS of which you can find much less of in-game, this is one of only TWO motifs that are CS only. There are what, 50 other motifs, and rising that you can get in-game.

Yes, they may very well create more motifs that are CS only, but they'd have to release at least 50 or so more in order to even be even with the number of motifs currently in-game. Looking at a list of the motifs, there are 50 right now that are found in-game, with four more coming with CC, vs. 2 exclusive CS motifs.
