Add On Developers: Is Lua at all similar to js/its libraries?

Thinking about trying to learn Lua but at the same time I don't really wanna dive in if it's not at least somewhat similar to js/jquery/angular/react/etc as that is what I know best & don't really have enough free time to learn a non-work related language from scratch.

What say you?

I've tried picking apart some add on files in Sublime and I've seen some things that look...structurally familiar? for lack of a better term, but I'm not sure what I should be looking at at all.

Tl;Dr = Noob that only knows html/css/js & it's libraries is interested in lua but wants to know how difficult it is to learn and if it shares any characteristics with js/it's libraries.

If this makes no sense at all, I apologize. It's 6 in the morning and I'm pondering life.

LUA is easy and fast to learn, if know other languages it will be even faster

No, it's not really similar but if you are comfortable with JavaScript, you shouldn't have too much trouble learning LUA.

Besides the online tutorials, you can also download a bunch of existing ESO AddOns and play around with the code.
That should get you started.

LUA is relative easy to learn, but there are many spooky things with LUA. Especially in ESO context you need high effort of time and a high frustration resistance to learn all issues what you can do and what not.
