I have played this game for several years and I believe that it is time to take a serious look at getting some additional Quality of Life tools for our Guild Leaders. I have talked to a few and made a few observations. Here are some of my ideas:
1.
Account Name Tracking: now that its relatively easy to change your
@account names it has become harder for guild leaders and officers to keep track of membership. It would be nice if there was a way for guild leaders to be notified of these changes so that they can track donations, activity, and participation better.
2.
Guild Leader Incoming Mail: Guild leaders get a LOT of mail, whether its donations, guild events, or just questions there is a lot of mail traffic going on. What would be ideal for me and some other guild leaders would be to simply have a inbox directly for the guild. Like other access this would be permission based. This way Leaders and offices could separate guild mails from their own inboxes. If for some reason this is not an option, then increasing mail storage capacity can be done as well.
3.
Guild Leader Mailings: The ability of the guild leader/officer to mass mail their members should be included in the base game and not have to rely on add-ons. I also think that mails sent this way should override the inbox full message. Similar to how guild store purchases/sales/cancelled item work. A Guild Leader should be able to reach out to you no matter if your inbox is full.
4.
Guild Ignore/Blacklisting: Let’s face it sometimes people just don’t get along, and people get booted from guilds. There needs to be a way for a guild leader to block people who are unwelcome from coming back. The premise is quite simple. People on the Guild unwelcome list are booted from the guild (if they are currently in said guild) and can’t be invited back unless they are removed from the list.
@name changes would reflect any name change they make the same way that the current ignore/friends list works.
5.
Sales Tax Adjustments: Guild Leaders should be able to adjust this to better suit their needs. The current sales tax system (to the best of my knowledge) works like this, a portion gets removed from the game and the rest goes to the guild. My idea is to leave the ZOS portion as a fixed tax, but allow Guild Leaders to assign a variable tax to guild sales. This could have a fixed range from say 0% to 25%. I would prefer this tax to be adjustable by the type of item for sale (e.g. mats, weapons, consumables, etc) but that may be expecting too much. A simple ability to change the taxing on all transactions would be preferable.
6.
Guild Tracking: I think that Guild Leaders would benefit from some simple data reports that summarizes guild history. Simple reports that give top sellers/buyers. Top guild bank depositors. Top items that sell in their guild store. Who was invited to the guild and by whom. How long a person has been in the guild, or even at a certain rank.
7.
Guild Chat: I think that guild leaders (and officers) should have a way to distinguish themselves in guild chat if they want to. The purpose would be to distinguish who they are for things like announcements, events, or even just to let people know who they are. Most guild offices currently use typing in all caps to do this. However, in online culture typing in caps is perceived as rude and aggressive. It is also technically against ZOS’s terms of service, though I doubt a guild leader has been banned for it. But it has led to misunderstandings and some confrontations. Giving leaders another option would be good idea and will help prevent unneeded drama.
8.
Message of the Day: simply put in the more active guilds gets full fast. Can we please increase the limit on what can be put there?
9.
Guild Housing: Simply put I would like to see a rank added to guilds that allows them to purchase a guild house. The house would work like private housing but would be enabled upon having a set amount of members. The house should be tied to the guild the same way the guild bank is and not the Guild Leader.
10.
Guild Stores: This one might be a bit controversial, but I believe that when a guild hires a guild store that the Guild Leader of that guild should be displayed when the Store UI is opened. This would help with both recruitment and in helping to resolve any disputes that come up. It also would, in the case of guilds that buy traders with empty stores allow the community to know who is exactly doing these actions.
11.
Guild Bank Sales: Guild Leaders and officers (permission based) should be able to sell items directly from the guild bank on the guild store. Instead of an
@name the guilds name would be displayed instead. 30 limit can still be in effect, but being able to do this with the items going directly to the guild bank would help out some guilds a lot.
12.
Limited Guild Bank Access: Some guild leaders like to reward people buy allowing them to take items from the guild bank. Being able to Lock/unlock items for withdrawal would go a long way in preventing people from taking items that they are not supposed to.
.
These are just some ideas that I have had over the last few months. What are your thoughts on these? Are there any that I missed? Did I miss the mark on any? I would prefer that comments be constructive. If you don’t like any of my points please state why. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this.
