Maelstrom Arena pff ... HELP.

So, yesterday I decided to try vMA for the first time.
Managed to get to stage 9 somehow. Got stuck on stage 3, 7, 8 a bit ( 157 deaths till stage 9 final round.. 70% of those on stage 7).
Anyway, I'm playing a STAMINA NIGHTBLADE. I just can't seem to get past the last boss. Can't do ***. No, can't even get to the crystal phase and once or twice I did get to it but died instantly anyway.
I cannot DPS the boss while taking on the CG and the healer. ( Daedroth guard). He hits a lot. In 2 sec I'm dead. I can see no progress anymore no matter how many times I try. ( 20 deaths already)

Btw, I'm running:

CP 400
All attributes in stamina
Dubious Camoran Throne
3x Spriggan Jewellery ( purple ) with weapon damage enchants
2x Divines (Purple) Spriggans Medium Armour
3x Divines (Purple) Hunting Rage Armour
2x Selene (Purple) Medium 1 Divines/ 1 Reinforced( Can't get divines shoulders ;-;)
2x Hunting Rage Daggers Gold ( Weapon Damage enchant / Poison Enchant
Hunting Rage Bow Gold ( Weapon Damage enchant)
No potions used.

HP: ~16k
Stam Recovery: ~1700-1800
Stamina: 33k

Any advice?

Your HP is quite low for vMA.

There are several ways to approach this fight.

    1) The easy way:
Take the Shield Sigil as soon as the boss teleports for the first time, interrupt his "gun fire", Kill the healer, kill the Deadroth (be aware of the Skull Bolt the boss shoots). Then focus on the boss again. When he's at 70%, he will teleport upstairs.

    2) The bursty way:
Bring him down to 70% before he teleports. This can be achieved by raw DPS or by using the Damage Sigil. You will be upstairs before the Deadroth spawns.

    3) The prepared way:
Much like the easy way. but instead of using the Sigil, you can use a Ultimate like Veil of Blades / Soul Tether to beat the Deadroth.

If you cant burst the boss, you need to focus the adds as soon as they spawn to be save. Make sure to interrupt the "gun fire" and dodge the Skull Bolt.

Upstairs, keep Leeching Strikes up as a passive heal and use Vigor of required. Dont panic and destroy the Shards one by one. I usually dot them up, use Incap Strike and burst them down quickly. But if you are slower, the most important part is getting behind the moving walls in time and dodge the Skull bolts and avoid meteors by moving around the Crystals.

Downstairs again, the most important thing if you cant burst the boss down is collecting the golden ghosts so you can use the Stun as soon as the Deadroth spawns.

    Hope that helps.
Jeckll has quit the game. Thanks for the great time.

Much going on in stage 9, takes time to memorise. Expect alot of deaths before u nail it. and once u do this stage will be one of the easier. just keep going at it.

How much HP would you recommend?
Also, should I try using the troll king instead of selene? Your 2nd method isn't really possible for me anyway since I have only like 22k-25k DPS on a target dummy.

Also, do you think I could swap surprise attack with Bloodthirst? or would I lose a lot of DPS?
I really didn't have much problem up till this stage but this one really seems impossible.

    Thanks for your help btw.

Don't interrupt it if you're using the defensive sigil. The sigil will reflect that attack back onto the boss and it's basically free DPS.

I would recommend going with the "easy way" suggestion above. The first CG, you'll kill under the protection of the defense sigil. The second CG, you'll never have to deal with if you can complete the top phase without coming down. And if you never miss a ghost in the final phase, you'll have stuns for all of the subsequent CGs.

    Thanks for your help btw.

I ran 17.5k on DW bar with 1 Shadow Ability. Its a matter of preference - for learning, I like to have a bit of a buffer. So 18k would be okay as well. Running more would most likely cut into your DPS noticeably.

The gear in general doesnt matter at all. vMA is a matter of mechanics only. If you managed to get to Stage 9 with your setup, you will be able to complete the Trial in my experience.

You need Surprise Attack for Major Fracture and Shadow Barrier. The Healing is not the issue. Its just learning the mechanics of the stage and adapt to it. Vigor, Leeching Strikes and Killer's Blade are more than enough.

Dont get blocked in the head. You can really do it. All mechnics you face here were already there in some way. You just need to manage what comes when.

Good point. Was mainly writing it as an info that its interruptable. Thx!

Id add 2k life to your char

Then practice. I died a lot more on final boss than on the rest of the arena. It takes time to manage all ongoing points and lag (in my case) kills you instantly as this fight is not forgiving (while actually easy once mastered)

    Practice makes perfect

Do it a little bit at a time (few runs per day)

If you're not using Deadly Cloak, you should be. 25% damage mitigation on AoE attacks is too good to pass up.

You do quite fine considering your cp and all :) You might want to use potions if you dont atm If you did not level alchemy on the char yet do so to get the passive for 48 of 45 sec bonus for most effects. Its a crafting passive that has in combat benefits...Tristat potions stamina health magicka or potions with weapon damage weapon crit and stamina regen can add some extra damage and resource for healing dodging etc

and for the daedroth... you run vigor or smt with similar amount of healing? add a health regen potion of needed but vigor should be enough

get more health. i suggest grabbing power sigil and speed sigil so you can burn voriak quickly and the crystals quickly. grab defense sigil when you come down and just wail on him while his orbs get reflected and do damage back on him

If you grab the weapon sigil you might just about be able to burst him to 70% with that. Place aoe's just before he spawns, time the block (or dodge) for the skull to waste as little time as possible. But if you place a trap on him the stupid clannfear will get stuck in it...

Running in a circle around the daedroth will avoid most of the fire damage. Though half the time you'll have a red circle or ghost in the way and die regardless.

I prefer a safe way. When crematorial spawns kill him using an ultimate (as DK I use corrosive armor), this saves your sigils for the last phase. When I go up top I DPS the crystals until I have another Ult ready, then jump down kill another crematorial with ult and the clanfear on top of the portal. Go back up and destroy crystals. Try to jump down with a dot on last crystal so it dies shortly after you drop down.

I run with 21k health and often complete stage 9 in a single run without dying.

Regarding potions I like unstoppable+resource (stamina for me). Let's you keep up the damage without dodging skulls or other knockback effects.

The single best thing to practice is how to circle strafe the Crem guard in order to do constant DPS without getting hit by his flame cleave. With practice, it'll never hit you.

Additionally, I HIGHLY recommend saving sigils for after crystals--the boss starts out with his machine gun skull move, which defensive sigil allows you to ignore, the haste sigil makes grabbing ghosts way easier, and the damage sigil makes the burn faster. The only sigil I would consider grabbing precrystal is healing, just because it isn't that useful anyway.
