Let's go back to Cheydinhal

Remember back in the day, when there was small scale pvp in Cheydinhal everyday? I really wish we could go back to that. I'm so sick of logging on and seeing the same map everyday. There's always fights between Sejanus and Alessia and Chalman and Aleswell, but that's it mostly. This has happened everyday for the last 2 years. Let's spread out a bit and go back to the other beautifully designed areas of Cyrodiil.

@ZOS_BrianWheeler maybe you could make a pvp event that gives incentive for the players to go back to these areas, cause as of now, around 70% of the map isn't used for pvp at all. Bring back some good old organic small scale pvp. I beg you!

What do you guys think?

Eh, I still get decent small fights in towns, you just have to be a lot more patient, and just shrug it off when a raid randomly comes through.

EDIT: But yes, an event that pushed people more towards towns would be interesting.

@MADshadowman did you see the recent thread started by @KenaPKK? I think everyone is with you on this. I don't know about Wheeler though, I think he likes the cobweb of castles too much.

Btw, if Cyrodiil was a metal band, it'd be called that... Cobweb of Castles...

I've posted tons of ideas to get more types of action in more places in Cyro, won't bother linking, here is mix of old and brand new ideas:

    - mobile flags, like caravans (full compliment of super-tough NPC guards) and messengers (similar to IC treasure scamps) which may or may not be tied to towns; they travel along roads, and all roads get a significant speed boost on top of any other buff so players see reasons to ride different routes

    - variable value to holding to towns beyond gear merchants and respawns, perhaps some kind of bonus to AP or to caravans which could link to the strength of nearby keeps or something else; can be very simple or moderately complex; also whatever the "story" value is, it could rotate so that it's urgent to take/hold a town in the next X minutes (or give quests to capture towns)

    - make the Fighter's Guild bounties more interesting, adding in special elite marks in addition to "kill so many of this type of bandit" bounties; along with this make the rewards more compelling especially the elite marks (the latter could be hiding in many places, even in or near towns)

    - allow brides and mile gates to be sieged to the point of making only single file passage possible to encourage strategic play and not only using the emp ring versions of these passageways; or, allow the emp-ring version only to be sieged to total impassibility

    - place something valuable fun near the bridges/mile gates furthest from the Emp ring (world bosses, unique crafting stations, whatever)

Guys, as much as i appreciate the ideas, there is one thing this game really doesn't need more of.

    And that's FLAGS.

Flags don't add any value to the game. It's just a stupid and lazy way of trying to get people to go somewhere else, AKA ZOS's favorite solution.
    • I go to a town and stand 1 minute at a flag.
    • I go to a resource and stand 1 minute at a flag.
    • I go to the IC districts and stand 1 minute at a flag.
    • I go to a keep or outpost and stand 1 minute at a flag.

For what? For measly AP and my team's color on that flag? That has no impact on the actual campaign gameplay-wise.

I don't want this game to become the "Capture the Flag Simulator 2017". I want an organic pvp experience where the whole map is interesting for all the players. Maybe it's not the game's fault, maybe it's the players fault. I really wish people wouldn't need any other incentive to spread out other than natural small scale pvp without lag.

I will now suggest something that a lot of players will hate, but would allow the players to spread out more easily:

PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FORWARD CAMPS.

In case you guys don't know, or can't remember: back in the day, forward camps didn't have a range. You could rez at those camps no matter where you died. This created some problems, cause whole zergs could just appear on the other side of the map, but think about the static and boring pvp you get everyday (Chal, Bleaks, Sej, Bridge) and tell me that this is better than being able to spread out more easily.

Back in the day you could use a camp to direct players to different spots. You would just put a camp in the middle of nowhere and people that died, would rez there and check out what's going on. This was so much better than what we have now.

MAD, mobile flags are dynamic, not standing around. You have to chase them and try to take down the defenses before enemy players arrive. Better FG bounties and targets, more special locations on the map, etc, are also dynamics and not flags at all. The old camps caused lots of problems. People still focused on one or two spots, they were just at more random locations

People have always taken the obvious Emp-ring route to whatever was next on the path. Funneling the zergs off-ring doesn't change too much. People have to want things that are out of the way. One idea I've got in my archive is that keeps are worth more to those who hold it the longer they hold it, increasing AP gain. Yet those same keeps are also worth a ton of AP if captured. You can't just sit around, everything is in play and what gives the most value changes throughout the hour.

I'm all for bringing life back into cyro, but don't ruin the quest areas. The 3 towns with flags in them are already annoying enough. I sometimes like to level up skill lines by doing quests in cyro. Thing is that in Cropsford you can't do quests without taking the flags. I'm fine with that, no problem. I'm also fine with the fact that people might come, no problem. But it's usually a full red zerg that comes riding and there goes both my XP potion, wasted because horse simulator is about to commence.

The town flags were a stupid idea to begin with, just stop. Be ,more creative.

i don't like flags either, but i also don't like restricting certain areas on a pvp map to pve questing, that's not what this map is for. We've all done our daily quests in Cheydinhal back in the day, but there was always the risk of getting ganked, which made it more interesting, since you could do that too in between your quests.

Putting gates on bridges and milegates sounds like a great idea to be honest. More strategic points to defend. At the moment they serve no purpose apart from bomb-blades having fun.

wouldn't that make them even more interesting? our goal is to encourage people to leave these spots, not to zerg them down even more.

Would like to see an Cyro-map without PvP, where you can enjoy this beautiful zone! and where then can live animals once again! And an Imperial City not destroyed, were you can go and quest.

There was a big increase in town PVP during the ESO anniversary event, when the town quests all gave the anniversary boxes that dropped materials and motifs. All ZOS needs to do is upgrade the rewards from the town quests, as 200 AP+junk set gear isn't pulling people in.
