Hist Bark is ok for a beginner. Tava's Favor is a good one as well, helps you generate more ultimate (make sure to use Evasion skill from Medium Armor skill line if you are running this set).
    PC EU @OneMoreDragon

Rakshasi Raijina, khajiit sorceror, adventurer and crafter
    Keel-Neesha, argonian dragonknight tank
    Asharlys, orc templar tank
    Wanheda Praimfaya, nord necromancer tank
Alessia Whitegold, redguard templar 2h/bow DD
Mitsuro Naztharune, khajiit dragonknight dw/bow DD
    Viannereth, bosmer warden bow/bow DD
Moraelyn of Ra'athim, dunmer necromancer magicka DD

So long as the dragonfires shall burn, to you, and to all generations, I swear that my Hearts blood shall hold fast the Gates of Oblivion.

Hist Bark or Tava's Favor paired with 5 Ebon Armory - quite easy to farm in CoH 1/2. Bloodspawn monster set, also easy to farm in Spindleclutch 2. This is an easy to obtain and effective tanking build. Be sure to have shield and 1H weapons from crafted set because there's less chance for them to drop compared to armor pieces.

I prefer Willow's Path or Twice Born Star (Serpent/Atronach) for crafted sets. Tava's and Hist Bark are nice too though.

Why though? Stamina recovery is almost useless for a tank. Blocking prevents stamina recovery, and in instances where you don't need to block you can just heavy attack.

I don't sit there and block most of the time that's why. I actively use various skills from both bars to use other parties and only block attacks that will one shot me or tax the healer too much.

Going to assume you don't do vet trials with that then. Even so, its far more effective to just heavy attack and spend your other sets and points into more important stats.

Yup, I don't because there's nothing I want there and I never did like raids. DLC vet dungeons are no problem though.

I personally run hunding's rage, warrior-poets and mighty chudan set on my templar tank. Works fine, I have bit higher weapon damage than usual for a health tank with little bit above 33150 resistances for that maximum damage reduction.
You cannot craft warrior-poet but it is cheap enough to buy honestly and you can have the rings.
Mighty chudan monster set is more difficult to get though, shoulder you can get easy but helm is a different story.

Warrior-poet is useless on a serious trial tank since the minor toughness bonus is the same as the one given by Warhorn. Also in dungeons it's not very good since stacking health past ~30K has no advantage. Ebon or even Leeching Plate would be much better options for a dropped set. Brands of Imperium (if not DK) and even Mazatun spring to mind.
