How much does mitigation impact dmg?

Is there a formula to tell how much resistance = dmg prevented? For example, if a Warden puts up the ward for 5,000 resistance, how much damage is being prevented?

    For players, use the formula:
    resistance / 660 = damage mitigation

    So if you put up a ward for 5000 resistance, 5000 / 660 = 7.58% damage mitigation.

    So if you put up a ward for 5000 resistance, 5000 / 660 = 7.58% damage mitigation.

Wrong. Its 662 for Max leveled players.

And don't forget their penetration against you!

    Doesn't really matter.

660 sounds correct actually. You might be factoring in the base penetration value of all players/NPCs in ESO of 100 when you add that 2.
The generally amicable yet sporadically salty magplar that may or may not have 1vXed you in Sotha Sil. Who knows?

You know that might be true, but if every single thing in the game has 100 penetration then the resistance cap effectively becomes 33100, cause if even the mobs have 100 penetration then having 33000 resistance will never put you at the actual cap cause it will be penetrated. But then yes both of us would be correct depending on point of view regarding that if that is the case.
