Will Bethesda ever do something about the scammers?

Did you report the player in-game?

That's about all you can do at this point.

I know it sucks ... but be sure you wait for the other player to click his window next time on such a large trade. Or, use COD.

Unfortunately, not much if anything is likely to happen. I had a similar experience on xbox and even having submit actual video on the ticket, they refused to do anything. it wasn't as much as you lost but I feel your pain.

Yea I reported thanks I know I thought he did press trade I wish there was a confirm trade. Bethesda didn't make the best trading in this game wish there was a auction house too would make it so much easier. I just think scammers should be taught a lesson instead of the ones that are being scammed. It would be a better experience on this game. Most people would take it out on others and scam someone else to make up for what they were scammed. I'm not going to do that. I say they end this vicious cycle in the game I know we can't do that in real life at least end it in the game lmao

Dude, you got scammed in a game. It's infuriating and the guy is a knob, but threatening physical harm isn't a good look.

The confirm trade option is already there, it's when your half of the trade UI turns blue. Next time put the items up and wait for the other person to offer their gold and lock it in (their half turns blue) before you lock in. Always wait for the buyer to offer first.

they seem wont fix trade, also it made devs seem supporting the thieves as "role-play".

Eq2 had problem with trade until they developed better secured trade preventing thieves to make quick recall on items, and now it is more secured.

just recommended, just use auction vendors for now, if you are in guilds.
i do agreed for better and more secured trade panel that is should be more trust worthy than current trade format. it is crappy and thieves are exploiting the trades with victims.
And they should pull out trade window right now until they put newer trade window, sadly they seem lazy and not care about players who lose and all the timer spent gathering and hard work for nothing. it made players some hard choice to give up quitting or being frustrating to rebuilt lost income for long time and never to trust any other players who really want a fair trades.
we all need to know if they really care about honest players or just discarded as cold-blooded devs. we all need to hear what they plans for secure trade format, it is right now flawed design.

To WhoSlapped, on trade window, they used you to put items and wait for "R" to confirmed and they recall by cancel their own offers and just took your items, too simple and easy for thieves.
it need new confirmed command before trades and should tell you that player just recalled and give you option to cancel the trades if they attempt to trick after you made confirmed and if they cancel and allow you to have option to cancel that "confirmations".

I agree...all I might suggest is to blast them in area chat and inform of the persons lack of morals or business ethics to hopefully prevent it from happening to anyone else. And, I don't know if PS has the option but on xbox, I flagged the persons gamertag for unsportsman like conduct.

All they need to do is implement a check to confirm a trade that requires you BOTH to hold down a button for say 5 seconds. Failure to both doing so would not allow the trade to take place. There would be no quickly backing out and removing items/gold really quick and committing to the trade before the unsuspecting victim can even see what had happened. Just another example of just how half-assed many of the features are in this game.

If one party cancels the trade in mid progress the system should automatically cancel the whole thing for both parties. If the designers had properly implemented the trade system, none of this scamming BS would be an issue.

The reason it's against the rules to 'name and shame', at least the primary reason, is that anyone could simply claim the guilt of another player and fabricate evidence of it. If one had a guild or group of friends willing, they could plaster an innocent player's name everywhere and give them infamy.

I would suggest something along the lines of what Nyghthowler said. Once either party has confirmed, then the only option available to either party is confirm or cancel. No changes are possible and the whole transaction is automatically cancelled or completed as submitted.

First let me state that I hate thieves and it sucks you got scammed. But how is this Bethesda's, ZOS's, or anyone's problem but your own? The responsibility is yours to ensure the validity of your transaction. There is no "running to tell mommy" to be done. I get that you're upset and this is not what you want to hear but it's only a game. Chalk it up to an expensive life lesson.

Scams happen the other way as well. You offer gold only to find the item you were purchasing didn't come through with the trade. So the advice there would be wait for the seller to offer first.

THe system unfortunately needs to be a bit more bulky. Two tiers are needed. Both players need to put their gold/items in and then submit. After both players hit submit the trade can only be canceled or confirmed with no gold/items added or taken away. Once both players have hit submit both players would then also have to confirm the trade for it to go through.

Basically if you offer gold/items they become locked in until the trade is canceled or confirmed.

Secondly while i agree there should be an extra window that says "Do you agree to this trade?" Or something it was still your own fault for not being more careful. Player to player interactions are very rarely the developers fault. In this case the fault is yours and the scammers both.

Sounds easy. Problem is some players have become really good at timing things just right so they can remove items from an offer so what you see isn't what you get. Two of the guilds I am in posted warnings about specific players in specific zones who are doing this. That is a ZOS problem. There is a basic flaw in design and some are exploiting it.

Well said.
It's a flow and should be corrected with a final check or confirmation making impossible after that to take back the item or gold, otherwise the deal shutoff.

My suggestion to OP and the others who get scammed is to start reporting this not only as a scam, but as a BUG, in forum or game.

Re-quoting kargen27 it's a basic flaw in design and some are exploiting it. Indeed, it needs to get fixed, so bug section.

I will start to report this too, the few times I had direct exchange trade as a buyer I've never been scammed, though I try to avoid direct trade, the idea it could happen to me just pisses me off to be honest and even reading these kind of threads and knowing ZOS do nothing to those low people pisses me off. Let's see if they care to fix a bug at least.

Yea hopefully they will do something about it. Yeah I'm a noob. It shouldn't make a difference though. I'm sure it happens to people that have been playing for a while and that one moment they are careless they'll get scammed again

pretty sure its near impossible to fix.. unless they put the every day player and put heavy restriction on them. but for the trade system yes things need to change so you can examine the product and have money and items locked in the trade window for 20 seconds or it auto closes the trade. and everyone gets there *** returned.

To be fair this game is almost designed to be a playground for amateur scammers. The fault is more with the developers than the perpetrators.
