Shadow Image NB Skill

I think it's time for a Shadow Image adjustment. This ability is great in theory, but in practice can feel extremely clunky.

There are a few issues with the skill.

1. Currently the skill requires a target, which can make the skill feel clunky to use. Sometimes it won't cast when it clearly looks like it does. This happens because the target was in range at the time of the cast, but has since moved out of range when the animation finishes. This has left me high and dry many times when I go to teleport back to the shade to realize it never cast when it looked like it did at the time.
2. The range is very short. When placing the shade you want to fight away from it so that you can teleport back when you get into trouble. The combination of requiring a target and the short range don't give you much room to work with and you end up teleporting something like 10 meters and thus not confusing anyone.

To make this skill feel less clunky I would propose one of the following changes, or maybe a combination.

1. Make the shade castable without a target. (This is my number 1 solution to make the skill feel less clunky).
2. Increase the range to something like 35m.
3. Keep the cast range, but make the teleport range infinite while retaining the timer.

THE CAVELRY HAS ARRIVED! Cav is a professional magblade, (in his not so professional opinion). He is immortal and is fighting for the Pact since 2E 572, amidst the turmoil of the Second Akaviri Invasion. He protects the provinces of Skyrim, Morrowind and Black Marsh.

That would make the skill ridiculously op. This would make it almost impossible to counter, mainly bc a cloak follows suit.

Its already easy to use, practice. If you're not catching the failed cast it's on you. I have no issue with those skill and use it to great effect.

Try using it behind a corner or a los object. That'll help you be able to stay in teleport range but not seen even you activate.

I was using it in PVE last night to trigger necro, but it is clunky as Oblivion (worse than grim focus.. LOL!)... ended up pulling the skill off the bar, switching equipment/skills around and ended up with better DPS numbers without it.

The dmg is negligable (my AOE DOTs do far more), and I find the teleport to be unreliable wonk due to range I guess.

Might try NECRO again with SHADOWREND :)

the first change will just make the NB able to cheat dungeon by getting out of the map. ( /put your shadow image on the invisible wall )
This will also make the NB able to enter in keep.

While I agree with the general sentiment that it's clunky, it's still really strong as is. 1 and 3 would break this skill entirely, it would become too powerful.

I could maybe get behind 2 increasing range, because most of the time the ability works fine and sometimes I'm just too ever so slightly out of range.

All it needs is to not take the ability teleport away if it fails

lol wut!? If I don't catch a bug, that's on me!? And you can't cast it unless you have lost on an enemy. Know things before you talk about them.

I just want the skill to be castable without a target. I don't think it would break the ability at all because you can only teleport once and it would still have a short range

It requires some skill to master this...skill fully. But once you do its very strong, sure it has some issues with activating etc so a good solution for that would be to not require a target, the range however should stay the same.

Also it consistently pulls other nightblades out of cloak, so much so that it's a reliable counter to other nightblades in duels lol.

there is a problem with your 3 points :

why increasing target range if you want to cast it without a target and make the teleport with infinite range ?
btw, infinite range would be totally BROKEN

IMO just using shadow without target would be a really good buff and I'm waiting for it since 3 years

The bug of it not going off bc you moved out of range is not a bug, its poor play. You can easily cast it behind a tree with a target, i do it all the time.

You're positioning is vital to this skill, and also how you control the position of the enemy. Ps4 na, I'll show you how if you want.

There is a bug with elevation Sometimes though. Sometimes I'll cast in on a cliff jump down have the enemy follow me and try to teleport back up and the skill won't go off even though I'm in range and have never left the range. It turns a skillful play into sure death most of the time. The only thing is i can't recreate this bug sometimes it bugs out and sometimes it doesn't

A friendly indicator of your own teleport radius would be good enough of a buff imo. also not teleporting under a nearby rock sometimes would be nice.

I REALLY don't like that it requires a target, that's my BIGGEST problem with this skill

I am also pretty sure that it pulls out of stealth when cast?

If I am in stealth and cast this, I don't want to be removed from stealth by casting this, or I don't want to have a "target" requirement, not both
