I always have a side MMO, in this games case

I alternate between my life time LOTRO account, WoW, and SWTOR

Whenever I get bored working on my 10 characters here, i switch and play one of those for like a month then come back.

Players come and go in MMOs. Old players leave and new players come in. Happens at all levels of play. During a more than the past year I have seen players plain leave the game, take breaks and raid more casually both competitive players and more casual players. It is the nature of the beast.

For some it is burn out gaming all the time. Others just want something different, which seems to be the case with 3 of the friends you mentioned.

Guilds kind of come and go as well. I have seen it happen at both the top level of raiding to more moderate and social guilds The guild leadership, and especially the guild leader, breaths the life into the guild and it takes a lot of work that merely starts with choosing who should become part of the guild so the guild meets it's objectives to ensuring newer players are provided the opportunity to develop. It is a lot of work. I have not seen less, or significantly less guilds raiding at the more competitive levels, though have seen them reform one way or another. I have seen a top guild on the server form, die, reform and die again over the course of the last 30 months. Really interesting.

It is for each of us to find what interests us in ESO and if we cannot find that then well, we go to Ark or somewhere else. Heck, I have gone from raiding more than a dozen times a week to barely 3 raids a week and somewhat back.

Set goals you are interested in, or slow down and catch your breath. This is all normal for MMOs.

Ch4mp just likes to make these posts from time to time for attention. Nothing to see here - he has quit more times than I have logged in.

Lmao. Yeah? Bruh, I've had more attention than I'd like to admit. Both good and bad. And that goes both ways in regards to the folks it attracted. M'kay? I can promise you that attention is the last thing on my mind.

What it is, is that I'm genuinely confused as to what my next move should be regarding ESO. Those 4 buddies who quit were apart of my support group per say in ESO. People in my inner-most clique. Folks who I've beat City of Ash with the for the first time. Folks who I reached the veteran rank caps with. Homies who I got banned with in the past. And it really hit home upon them leaving. These are the people who I got Ophidian Overlord with, when it was all the rage. Folks who I grinded Martial Knowledge with, when Cyrodiil was the ***. You know? The squad.

And I'm just lost, and feeling caught up in the mix. Like I said, I feel like I'm not evolving or progressing. I feel like the rush isn't there anymore. That feeling of uncertainty and just raw bliss from adrenaline while playing. And I need to know how to get it back. I need to know how to return to evolving and progressing.

The point is to have fun. If you're not doing that, put the game down and do something else for a while. You're not meant to know where the ride ends man, you're suppose to just enjoy it while you're on it.

Some day, you will stop playing this game. If that is when there is no fun left, why are you a fool for having had a blast while you could?

Montly depression post by CH4mp? Why are you playing this game I don't get it. You get worked up so much on so many smallish things that by now I would consider sitting and watching paint dry more fun and less stressful experience in your case.

I just had a friend message me to get him into a Vet trial guild. He's good enough imo to join one except.....

There are only a handful of guilds on PS4 NA that can even run Vet trials successfully. The lack of incentive to run endgame PvE (aka massive net Gold loss) is more than enough to cause this. Not even going to start on the horrible game performance and plethora of game-breaking bugs.

My guild is the best on our server, holding #1 on all trial leaderboards by a lot and many of the places behind first place by using alts or bringing other members. With the exception of vHoF, we don't even take our trial runs seriously, yet still there is no competition at all. If by some chance one of our scores are ever beaten, we could run in there and take it back with ease.

I see many players leaving endgame guilds all of the time. It's happening to all of them, including our own guild which is full of members who only get on ESO to raid and then play other games.

100% of this is caused by how ZOS treats their endgame PvE. Garbage performance. Bugs everywhere. Bad design for "rewards", where trials drain your Gold at an alarming rate.... just a complete mess. We warned ZOS ahead of time that this would be the result of removing BoE jewelry from Vet trials but they did it anyway, and it has been this way for a long time now. Tack on the Morrowind nerfs that hurt all but the very best groups and you have the mess we are in right now.

Funny part is they are releasing a "mini-trial" in 4th quarter, like that will bring anyone back for more than a few weeks  As long as Vet trials aren't giving BoE loot and only a handful of guilds care to participate in the content itself, leaving ESO becomes easier and easier for raiders while the expectation to earn a spot on their teams increases.

oh come on. Hardcore End-Game Raiders are some of the FIRST players to quit the game. they burn themselves out by pushing the SAME content over and over and over again. They participate in that content at a high stress, high personal demand level every time too.

of course they are going to quit. look at every game ever made.

sounds like your firends should have branched out more. tried pvp or more casual take on the game.

and look at what they left for: Ark? Diablo 3!?!?! bwahahahahahaha theyll be back. theyll come crawling back, get in good, act like theyve always loved ESO and never quit. you watch. bunch of fairweather ESO players. peace out.

Everyone's just waiting on Destiny 2

Also, though I can't vouch for any other server besides PS4 NA, endgame PvE population as a whole (both at peak population and when people are burned out/taking a break) are significantly lower each patch. In Morrowind it has gotten to the point where it's almost a ghost town.

    For example, on PS4 NA:
    • vHoF only has 118 characters that have completed it.
Over half of these are alts (the same players), so the number of players to finish this trial is easily 50-60 on our server.
    • vMoL only has 220 characters that have completed it this patch. Again, many of these are the same people on different characters as well.
    • With the exception of the top 50 or so player characters on each leaderboard, scores are all extremely low - the runs completed were with 0 Vitality and took a very long time for them to do

****Even vDSA and vMA are doing badly. Only last week, the Warden section for vMA actually reached 100 players on the leaderboard. Leaderboard scores should mean you had a great run, but instead you can spend hours dying in there on multiple classes and still secure a spot. vDSA has 262 people who have completed it this patch, with almost all of their runs resulting in very low scores.

Another fun fact - Here is the vMA weekly leaderboard, closing in 22hrs.
    • 20 Wardens
    • 34 DKs
    • 37 Templars
    • 81 Nightblades
    • 100 Sorcs
    • Almost everyone not on Sorc made up the other classes numbers using alt characters.

Leaderboards are not measuring the highest scores anymore. They are measuring completes. Getting stuck in Aetherian Archive for 8rs, saving the instance until tomorrow, going back in and beating it (24+ hour run) is Leaderboard material. It's just sad tbh.

By the same token, new people are still coming to the game. I met a bunch of such people just recently joining them to kill world bosses.

ESO is still new and fresh to them and they're really into it.

Me - I'm a bit disappointed with ESO for various reasons and just queueing up trait research at this point. Playing the TSW relaunch instead. Also keeping an eye on GW2's next expansion.

Ok, so more content is better than no new content at all.

Most definitely, we would prefer that that content is also quality.

But even if it isn't, it's still preferable to no new content at all.

Ideailly, all content is of the highest possible quality, and there is a lot of it.

You definitely need a break. Take a few weeks of R&R time wait for the game to have an update and take it smooth and casual. Treat the game like a cadiallac instead of a 6 second ride lol
