Too many people cried about the time they spent getting gear. The same thing happens in every MMO, barring this one and GW2. I enjoy having gear progression, and as far as I have seen, all the top specs from all of the classes need the new set (war machine, war maiden) to max their damage output.
I love it. People complain they don't want the gear cap raised because they don't want to farm the gear (half of the game in MMOs) and ZoS finds a way around it. Just so everyone knows, you will always have to farm gear. Even if you have every set, with every trait and enchant, you will still have to go after the new sets.
To the OP, the only way I see them raising the gear cap is if they also put a vendor for the maelstrom arena. The devs gain power from the tears of gaming crybabies, but too much and they may explode. I would love to see the cap go up to 200, but I am a vocal minority with that.
lol !
Let them try that trick and see the uproar ...
As far as am concerned lvl increase = out of here

Still don't understand why gear/item level needs to be increased

I agree, so because there is no benefit to increasing the gear cap, there will likely be constant "balance changes" every update that affect traits, sets, CP, and skills, to provide busywork and a moneysink as people gather new gear each update in place of a gear cap increase which would provide much the same. People also swallow this better than they do a gear cap increase anyway (even if it were worthwhile), even though it may take just as much time, effort, gold, and putting coins in the swear box every time they get a drop that is not the one they want.

What are you going to do about the changes to traits in update 15? I'm genuinely curious, because if you use dropped sets, you may well want to farm new items in a different trait. I don't see how it's different, except raising the gear cap is a clear statement of "you will have to farm new stuff", and changing the traits is a more subtle "you will have to farm new stuff" - I think anyone who puts much thought into it would be able to see that farming for drops or mats to craft new stuff for a gear cap increase is not in any way different from having to farm for drops or mats to craft new stuff due to changes in traits and sets every update.
If you are happy to accept that but would leave the game for a gear cap increase then that doesn't sound to me as if you have firm reasoning and logic skills - it's exactly the same thing.

This grind is a lot more interesting. Scaling ensures that every set in the game can be worn at your level. You just need to figure out the optimal stats through theorycrafting. Even when those stats change, it's fun figuring out the new best-in-slot set combo. I'm having a blast figuring out what gear I'll wear next patch.
Games with an increasing gear cap just force you to farm new, generic gear becauae you need it to complete the new content. There is no thought involved. You grind mindlessly like a robot.

I think everyone who grinds for gear grinds mindlessly like a robotbut that is just me, I have no patience for it. Fortunately I'm not a min/maxer who worries about a few points here and there and I can still complete the vast majority of content. I think anyone who enjoys grinding for anything (or who thinks that a few points here and there are worth it) is slightly under the influence of Sheogorath - but as long as everyone is enjoying themselves (with or without butterflies!) that is the main thing.

I would like it if they would raise the level for crafted gear. Just us the same materials, that they use now.

MLGProPlayer wrote: »They could increase the gear cap to CP 660 and nothing would change due to scaling. You'd still do the exact same damage you do now. You'd still take the exact same amount of damage from enemies that you do now. That's why a gear cap increase will never happen. It's 100% pointless in a game with scaling.
