Hey all you dps who clicked on this thread go away!

Those of you who are dual specced can participate too, I won't contribute to bi-role erasure. ;)

This game, and most games in general, reward "phat deeps" in all aspects and damage dealing is important no doubt, but there are those of us who like support roles.

Let's brainstorm improvements or additions to content that rewards support players.

Some of my ideas:
1. Make the "block" and "heal" dungeon achievements count for even more Undaunted rep.

2. Award ranked titles for healing in pvp. Like "Field Medic", "Surgeon", "Surgeon General"

3. Add a 1 skill point passive to the Restoration staff skill line that unlocks a conversation tree to "heal" npcs. Finding all the npcs in all the zones that need your healing help gives a similar achievement to donating to all the beggars. Maybe a title/ costume/ dye color.

What are your ideas?

Edit to add later ideas:
1. class quests. Specific quests for each class that allow you to choose either the straight damage solution or the support solution (like how sometimes you can persuade an npc or just choose to outright kill them).

I love the Mages guild, I would like a group of npc healers to recognize us as well.
Anyone can be a part of the Fighters Guild, but not everyone is a tank, some kind of "defensive" game mode would be great. Like playing defense in an fps. Right now we have a defense tick for successfully repelling an attack on a keep, but maybe something more individual would be nice.

Damn I like this thread idea already. Haven't read through all of it so here is my proposal:

Let's have an "Inverse Target Skeleton" for healers like my Heals-your-Paws. You know, a skeleteon that hurts itself and you heal it <3 .
Or as an alternative let us healers join a group with the target skeleton and try to heal it while your DPS is hurting it badly B) And you can use your DPS-guy to put a nice Ele drain on him while you are at it ;)

3. Can Silver Leash be changed to the store brand Chains please? Instead of the useless gap closer no one needs?

What about quests where you have to heal. I don't quest a lot, but are there such quests for healers or tanks? Would be fun if you had to bring materials for lore related medicines or have to protect mutliple npcs on some psuedo battlefield. Think fungal grotto where allied npcs follow you allow to the end ...if they live.

6.
I wish there was more incentive for support roles in ESO. It seems a great deal of achievements are designed for DPS roles. Perhaps adding in some special rewards/achievements for Trial/Dungeon/Cyrodiil support milestones?
Here's some quick examples:
- Clearing a HM trial with no deaths, while preventing at least X amount of total damage for the group during the trial.
Unlocks: A glowing aura skin with Aedric runes across your character's body.
- Revive X amount of players, who then got their "revenge kill" on their attacker shortly after.
Unlocks: A new golden skin that shows your character slowly radiating bright flames from their body.

A set of achievements and rewards like this are something that makes being a support build special and it's a way to show off how well you do your job! Maybe not these exact examples listed above, but something similar would be nice instead of the constant "kill X things" and "deal X damage in this place" achievements. Perhaps a whole set of "support role" AP ranks (and skill points) based on a new list of achievements for support actions while in Cyrodiil?

I think that if you are queued up as a healer that you should slightly glow so you are easily identified as the healer in the group. Even if you are dead. As a tank, I hate running around looking for the dead healer while getting agro from the boss because I'm the only one still standing.

We were talking in group tonight about role specific achievements for Heals and Tanks; the 50 kills for Midyear Mayhem was the catalyst. For heals, do 50 rez's, for tanks, do 50 assists for kills like chains or talons or something. Almost all achieves are either super simple (run here, chat with her, drink out of bowl, chat with other person, boom achieve) or geared towards DPS (win a battleground match, deliver 50 killing blows to players in PVP).

I would like to see a little diversity going forward.

I used to jokingly, lovingly refer to my tanks as meatshields who's only interest in books are eating them, but after some of the people I've ran into in dungeons, I mostly think they're the only sane ones. Healers rolling with 2hd swords, dps who feel the need to get to the mobs before anyone else and pull everything and not to mention the dps who que as healers or tanks. I couldn't grasp the mag/stam balances of tanking with Dk's, Nb's and Templars but Warden was the one I took to like a duck to water. From my experience most bosses won't move with Frozen gate, so I'd like to see that addressed.

Healing can always be made more fun by making dps able to move quicker. The quicker they can grind through the map, the less they will want to heal themselves and make the heal role fun.

Tank is made fun by just making every boss able to be taunted and the one in the tank role has an overriding taunt that will always hold aggro on the boss. Also a quicker way to taunt that costs less resources for mini bosses.

That's my thoughts on making those roles fun. I don't participate in end game pve as a note, I just do all roles over the normal pugging scene.

Your reward for tanking is quick que. At least in my experience.

I ran 5 randoms the other day. 3 of them were vetCoA2. 1 stuck at Skoria, 1 at the firemaw. It gave good satisfaction helping these motly crue through probably the hardest non DLC dungeon in game. The groups were astonished we actually beat it and they got some cool monster helm. Just another day in the park for me. Lol

It became very apparent to me how much difference a tank could make. I'm by no means some kind of op tank, but I know how to play the role...at least for dungeons. Some dungeons can be steam rolled, but proper group can make things go much smoother.

I like being a DD, but think I actually do better job tanking or healing.

IMO PvP tanks are often overlooked and misused. My most successful job in Cyrodil is manning the battering ram while hot oil is being poured on us from above and CC.

Then why having classes at all? You have the option to use and specialize in specific weapons, including the Restoration Staff. This gives any class the chance to heal, even if less than a Templar. If all classes had a specialization for tanking, damaging and healing then remove all classes and that's pretty much it.

    You can't be everything.

Don't be ignorant. I have a DK that I will occasionally triple queue with. Note: I will do this with vet dungeons, not trials. This DK is perfectly capable of filling ANY of these roles competently without even changing gear(with the exception of swapping from S&B to resto staff when needing to heal). All I have to do is swap skills around. If I am running some dungeon where I need to be more effective in a given role(vRoM, vCoS, vICP, vWGT) I will ALSO swap gear to match. I have an add on that allows me to swap gear and/or skills by pressing a button. So I can effectively do ANY of the 3 roles with the same toon for anything short of trial content. I of course dont try to do them ALL at once(though I can sometimes manage to do two off-roles at once depending on dungeon)

I have a similar warden toon that can heal and tank at the same time, though really not as effectively as a pure tank or pure healer, but sufficient for vet dungeons.
