New players have it tough

Its not that difficult to grind cp. At least once it is done, it is done for all characters. Remember, a lot of us started from scratch when the game launched too. We ground every bit of it through questing, pvp and grind groups. Would not seem right to just give cp away without effort. I bought morrowind too and pay sub. What do I get for it when I am already maxed? Absolutely nothing. Not trying to be harsh, but just because you started later doesn't make you privileged. Cp levels takes way less experience now to grind. You should have had to do it when it first came out...o_O

No we did not all have to do it.

Tell him to check out the vet 16 leveling system.

And when you ding 50 you get a catch up mechanism called enlightenment.

It's enough to takes you to cp 80. Then you get 400k worth A DAY.

You casuals can join the game pop cp 500 in a couple months then turn around say how hard it was, disgusting...

Or.... he can do the same *** the rest of us did, work for it.... gd kids always want everything easy mode and free.

And the oldies amongst us roll out the same garbage as what you've typed. I hate to burst your bubble, but people expected instant gratification back when Atari dominated things. Nothing has changed. Only your blinkered view of kids being more entitled when it comes to gaming. Either take the rose tinted specs off or get a clue.

It's not just gaming, it everything in life. Anyone under 25 thinks they're entitled to everything for free without having to work for it.

    @Maikon

You answered just before i was about to edit my response. After reading it back, I was being a bit of a *** with my response. There was no need to jump down your throat. Apologies, mate.

No, it's fine. But with all the countless thread people make about "I want everything without having to buy any of the dlc content" or "I want max level and all gold gear from the start" just keep pushing it farther, until ZOS finally just says "*** it, here have everything" and they stop making content and doing updates.

In the entire history of MMO's, that's never happened.

Your hyperbole is indicitive of your warped view of the situation.

They may not stop making content as long as it makes them money, but no one should ever find this game even remotely hard, especially as easy as it already is.

    @Maikon

You litterally just keep spewing hyperbolic statement after hyperbolic statement to the point where you mean nothing. If you genuinely believe this, your delusional.

If the game fails, it's going to be for related factors. Difficulty can be the cause in many different ways. There is more to it than the filthy casuals, I assure you.

I bought the game in May, I am 310cp. I figure I will be 630 by end of July or mid August. It really isn't that much of a grind.
I have completed just about every quest in every land available other than cyro. I would say 90- 95% solo. I have met a lot of friends along the way when it came to WB runs and dungeon runs.
Enjoy the game don't rush it.

I like games that give me a long term challenge. We get our money's worth with ESO (even with lag time, freeze ups, long load times). I hope ESO adds enough content to double what we have. Your friends just need to take things one day at a time and have fun on the journey. I'm glad I had to work for what I have. It's just like real life in some ways.

Tell him to go play WoW. Then he can buy his way to level 60 and/or level 90 (or to 100, don't know). Then he only has to grind for another 10-20 levels. It's not cheap, as least not when I was there (I left about 18 months ago).

Starting WoW from scratch would be daunting (I think the level cap is 110 now??). Over the years, I had eliminated a lot of the areas while questing (did a fair amount of grinding), but even then it took forever.

Suggestion, why don't you and your friends start new characters with him? That way you can level together.

    Good luck.

honestly its best to let this friend jsut play the game. It goes fast when you have fun following the stories.. Trying to rush it makes this poor sap miss out on what makes the game a game

No thanks. Imagine how bad PUGs would get when you have a bunch of people that chose an option to insta-level to CP 160. Let them experience and learn the game. Just think, VR ranks could still exist. You know, back when it was an actual full time job to level a character.

Oh yeah, don't forget he is battle leveled already... So really, what is the point? He still wont have skills unlocked, skyshards, skill points, etc.

    There IS a catchup mechanic...
I saw a friend recently level up to CP 200 from level 1 in a month of casual play.

Yup, then you started a second character and did it all again. Not just the grind to level 50 easy mode currently in place.

This is nothing, back when I was just starting.......

Seriously, I think you have a lot more freedom and choice now but it is easy to try and do content before you are ready. When I started, you worked through your alliance areas in order, competing against enemies that were your level and they got progressively harder as you leveled up. But at least it was structured.

While everything is supposed to be leveled to you, or you to them, a lot of that structure has gone and it would be easy for a newcomer to be overwhelmed. They also have not got the leveling right - if you are level 10, everything feels easy as if you have been over leveled, but as you progress, that starts balancing out and things start to feel harder.

It is still best to follow your alliance story line, picking up the quests, progress through the zones, doing the Mages and Fighters guild stories, and so on - at least on your first character. Pair up with a friend or two, the journey is a lot more fun , you get extra XP and things feel like they are moving faster.

IMHO its not the length of the grind that is overwhelming, but the completely non structured nature of it in this game that screws both new and old players.
Most mmos, even the grindiest of them, lay things out for you on HOW to progress much much better, so you dont get bogged down and lost like i see so many new to ESO players getting.

The "play as you like" mentality of ZOS really just boils down to an amorphous mess of a leveling system that really ends up being the exact opposite of "play as you like" IF you actually want to progress with any sort of goal of getting to the top.

    Have you played EQ?

This game max level in a day...

    Not like WoW
    Not like EQ

    Much harder and difficult games.

lvl 50 in a few hours true with the right gear and experience pots but at CP 630 "MAX LEVEL" in one day? Not so much

For the record though- I do appreciate the grind and have played since launch. I am just trying to put myself in the shoes of a new player

Let me put the shoes on for you.

    Background:
I played on the NA server 2/3 years almost every day.

I recently started playing on the EU server starting all over. You are right, it is tough being a noob. Not having any gold, or armor but as far as questing goes, why rush it? Does your friends really need to be max level in a day, a week, or a month? On the EU server I am doing fine now. I have 3 characters, levels 30, 15, 11. I'm leveling all my crafting on one character and researching traits. I play PvP with other noobs and when the action is slow I go to Vivec and play with the big boys. Sometimes I even go down to IC and grind stones with out any problems.

The point I am trying to make is, you can play the game perfectly at low levels. You can play with high level friends or solo. The best thing you can do for your noob friends is to send them some gold to help them in the beginning, or craft them some armor.
This enjoy the trip, craft them some gear and they get an much easier run.
And yes try everything, pvp, dungeons at relatively low level.
Progression is ESO is very flat.

And the real endgame is HM raids or emperor its very hard and you would not get in some months anyway. Just 1% of players reach it anyway so why play :)

And don't rush the first character, the 3rd you rush,

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
