If it takes 90 years then you're only making roughly 2,000 AP per day.

nah I just have stints of not doing pvp at all, and then binge it for a bit.

have a lot of other things in game that distract me XD

    Was about to ask ;)

It will still take you ~9 years of nonstop gaining 20k AP/day, tho a total of 90 years seemed a bit to far off for me.

Very nice aproach to check first how long it will take before starting :)

From my experience I can rack up about 400K AP a day on average, if I play for about 6-8h on that day. The ratio is likely to improve, since I'm not a very experienced PvP-er. If I manage to do 500K AP on average, it will take me 128 days to hit the 64M AP needed for Grand Overlord. So it's not actually that hard.

I don't play as much PvP as i used to as i'm fulltime now and freelance less. But before i could PvP 12-14h/day. I'm about to get my fourth star and it has taken me since launch on console. Now casually playing PvP, i think i'll have my fifth star before the holidays this year :)

I can play solo for 2-3 hours a night earning ~100k AP. You can even earn much more than this in small-group or strong zerg ball. But even at this pace, it's only less than 2 years to get Grand Overlord.

    90 years = 788,400 hours
    64,000,000 AP / 788,400 hours
    81 AP/ hour

    Yo sic.

    Stop being ridiculous.

Lets say youre making a more reasonable AP/ Hour.
30k (which is low AF btw)
    (64,000,000 AP) / (30,000 AP/ hour) = 2133 Hours
    2133 Hours/ (24 Hour/ Day) = 88 Days
    88 Days / (365.25 Days/ Year) = .24 Years

    you are exaggerating by approximately

    1 year 400%
    400% x 90 = 36,000%

Then again that's total time played not time played per day for an average person. Still it wouldnt be 90 years it would be 1.5 to 3 max.

300k AP is very doable within one evening. Depending on buff or not, length of play, and whether there is active combat and Keep/Castle taking it can be higher or lower. I average about 300k per night on the weekends and then maybe 100k+ on week days when I'm active in PVP. That 300k is usually over 3-5 hours of play.

At 300k AP a night that is 213 days of PVP to reach 64 million, which would be incredibly boring but doable within a year. If I only do PVP on Saturdays and Sundays, and I exclude double AP events it should take 2 years for one character.

It is not impossible simply requires some time investment.

That's mostly solo play, small fights and capping Keeps and Resources as much as possible. Fights that drag on without kills do not net you much AP. You get much more for quick kills and captures.

I have guildies who were entirely PVE focused, that jumped into PVP with the Emp group and netted much more AP just capturing things as fast as possible. If you don't PVP often or want to PVP much, definitely try and get in with a guild that does organized PVP, you can get a lot of AP and they will drag you along and often even help guide you toward improving your own play.

I instantly gave up, pvp rank and ap gain is simply not designed for the casual pvp player. unless your good, in a guild or group designed for pvp, and can constantly dedicate the majority of your playtime to it, don't bother.
Equip a resto staff and follow your pug groups around, you don't have to be good or in a group to do that.
Keep your AP buff up too
Even easier (and safer), find a keep where people constantly run out (Alessia for example), get killed, respawn and run out again. Position yourself above or next to the main gate and throw down healing AOE on people as they run out.

Lean back, have a sip, chew some popcorn and reap in the AP ...

well most pvp players on this forum get a lot more ap then the average player, on account of generally being in groups or raids having set goals and methods of gaining ap etc. etc.

I tend to solo my way around to the fights, I would not say I'm an epic player but upper half rather then bottom, I just don't group, nor do I have a guild or what have you, and I still maintain pretty good ap gain when I'm actually in cyrodil (pvp is not my job in eso, so I don't treat it as such)

that said the conclusion in the thread I linked was 170k~ ish ap per night every night for a year to hit GO.

I know there are players that can do that, most are not XC

My only regret is that the dyes you get for some of the highest PvP ranks are dual-tone dyes where one shade is excellent and the other shade completely ruins the dye. Legate Black is obviously a god-tier dye, but after that you get a decent orange, an OK red, and then nothing good it seems. I really wish we could take dual-tone dyes and like, isolate one of the colors if we don't want both to show up on a particular outfit.

90 years? Your math is off. That's 2000 ap a day...720k/year. Even a casual player can earn 700k in a good weekend.

The achievement isn't meant for casual players, for sure. I'm not sure why this would keep you out of pvp, though. Either you enjoy it, and enjoy earning the silly perks slowly, or you don't enjoy it, in which case the perks aren't worth it.

I'm working toward my rank achievements. In a month where I focus on pvp my goal is 4 million ap. So it's still a long grind to grand overlord...but not quite as bad as 90 years. Even a casual player should be able net 1 million/month. So like a five year estimate would be reasonable maybe.

I'd have grand overlord if it was account based and not character based. So, it isn't, I likely will not reach grand overlord unless they change the requirement or make it account based in the future. With other games on the horizon, it is likely I will never reach grand overlord.
