✭✭✭✭I don't know about non combat pets but I would like to have a word with that scamp that chases enemies in the farthest corner, stuns them and makes it impossible to pull them with chains. I'm on my MagSorc pet build with only the volatile familiar running because I know about the lag issues and so on - but I was given prior approval to run with the familiar since it wasn't a speed run or anything - it was just a learning-about-trials type get together.
We get to the part where the group I'm in is told "everyone stay in crouch" and I do as instructed because, well that's what you're supposed to do, right? Immediately my pet runs over to the group on the far side of the area we're in and I'm all, "SORRY! SORRY! SORRY!" as other group members start grumbling (appropriately) about how stupid pets are.
In my head I had this ridiculously annoying voice-of-my-familiar screaming, "Heydadheydadheydadheydad! Look at this! I wanna play with THEM!"
Sometimes I hate my pets, but ever since my first EQ necromancer, I've never truly enjoyed playing any kind of "mage" build without them. And yeah, I do imagine their voices from time to time.1 -

Ok, in truth I have probably blamed my pet(s) for some of my own errors.
This does not make my pet less stupid. Perhaps it has to do with the constant blows to the head. Maybe they aren't stupid, but have severe traumatic brain injuries (and PTSD too, probably) that have resulted in the bad behavior.
I think the volatile familiar is thinking "DURrrrr" all the time.
The matriarch is probably thinking, "I sure wish someone would trim my talons..."1 -
