Who cares lol as long as you understand what the person is saying, it doesn't matter at all

Allow me to once again clarify, for people who don't like reading my TL;DR versions: if English is not your first language, but I understand what you're saying (or trying to say), then there are no problems. :)

My grievances are directed at native English speakers only.

This is where I completely agree with the OP (original poster). You should know how to speak (and write, or type) your native language correctly. Any time you are attempting to speak or understand a foreign language, you are allowed and expected to make mistakes.

The English language is changing, and not for the better.

Of course, he's not the only one, just the one I remembered. And when well-known/famous people on TV and in the press can't get the language right, how can we expect our children to get it right.

    *right?

If I know the person is not a native English speaker I have endless patience. But if they ARE native English speakers and still produce mostly gibberish or exhibit "net speak" laziness to an extreme degree (a little doesn't bother me) I find I end up believing they are stupid. That may not be fair or even accurate, but it's what happens.

Right there with you, I don't expect perfect, but native English speakers have no excuse. English-as-a-2nd language (like myself) have plenty of excuse. It's just sad that half the time my English is closer to correct than the majority utilizing chat.

Maybe you can teach some of these so-called native English speakers how to use the language correctly. You obviously have a better grasp on it than they do, and I've run out of patience with them. You have enough patience to learn a second language - perhaps you also have enough patience to lead a blind, thirsty horse to water.

The funny part is that they're advocating "L33T sp3ak" and saying "welcome to 2017"...

Because obviously "leet speak" just came out in 2017...

Seriously, do kids think they invented everything?

I got that p-chat addon and google translate, I have literally helped direct actions in Cyrodiil between people whose language I can't even hope to begin to understand on my own. Though there was definitely some issue with keep names. Yikes. But yeah I don't care what language or how well someone speaks it, there's no official language on our servers.

I've tried, but it was hard enough going from my native to Irish English to American English. I've been hearing this kid saying "jewery" rather than "jewelry" and it makes me want to cry. Then he tries to tell me the L is silent? Another kid talking about getting perfect Roe keeps saying "fillit" rather than properly pronouncing filet. Don't get me started on the ways I've heard people say melee.

If you're a native English speaker you have no excuse for being lazy. If English isn't your native language then I salute you for trying - whatever your language, I can't speak it as well as you speak English.
    It ain't no big deal.

I up-voted you for humourous use of a double negative to say it is a big deal because you are correct.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

I am quite the grammar freak, but if I know up front English isn't your first language and we are communicating well, I can overlook grammar mistakes. English is a difficult language to learn and as much as I love Google, sometimes Google Translate isn't perfect.

I used to get self-conscious about my English as well... but then I got "relax and enjoy life" memo in my heart :D

First of all, ESO, like any MMO, is international - English isn't native for many people, so... I honestly don't care how good or bad someone's English is. God the witness, mine is far from perfect also :D Understanding is what matters. In any international environment - all is well as long as we can understand each other.

And secondly... If I chose to remain silent because of "my English is bad" thoughts, how would I get any practise? :) Mastering anything requires practising it. Your English will never get better if you won't use it ;) So use it ;)

TL;DR: Don't care (would be rather hypocritical of me :D ) and never going to :)

    P. S. Also - totally Suka, blyat, vodka, balalayka :D
English isn't my native, apologies for any mistakes.

This IS the English Forum. It's dictated people speak in English here and I do prefer most of the time that the language isn't butchered when someone's trying to get something across.

I don't know English very well. I don't even sure I've wrote a poll question correctly. And this previous sequence looks terrible, I think.
Nevertheless, I'm quite a grammar-***, and sometimes it's painful to see someone making mistakes in my native language (when I know that they're russians, I mean).
So, how do you feel about that?

Grammar is irrelevant to me. What matters is if a person can make his or her self understood.

Overall, I'd be a little bothered by it, but unless it's completely incomprehensible I'm not going to be "that guy" and point it out.

Unless it's my family or personal friends, in which case I'm allowed to take the ***.
