How do you feel about bad English in chat and forums?

I don't know English very well. I don't even sure I've wrote a poll question correctly. And this previous sequence looks terrible, I think.
Nevertheless, I'm quite a grammar-***, and sometimes it's painful to see someone making mistakes in my native language (when I know that they're russians, I mean).
So, how do you feel about that?

If I know the person is not a native English speaker I have endless patience. But if they ARE native English speakers and still produce mostly gibberish or exhibit "net speak" laziness to an extreme degree (a little doesn't bother me) I find I end up believing they are stupid. That may not be fair or even accurate, but it's what happens.

Game industry has used so called "simple English" forever already. Ive read that even big chunk of Americans use it too, not only us Europeans. Americans cant speak their own language, nuff said, fluently that is.

Not my native language, nor I work with ppl that require perfect knowledge of English or it's grammar. Can't say I care too much, between proper English and proper rotation I choose the later, lol.

How do you think about Zenimax renaming all castles in PvP for different language versions?

Try directing German or French players to castle Rayles or DragonClaw on EU servers...

Each language version has (totally) different names of -every- castle...

What was Zenimax thinking in PvP....

I have a bigger problem with people refusing to use english in-game, and use their native language while you ask them politely to use english instead.

It doesn't matter at all.

If I can't understand a post because of language issues I will normally make a polite post stating I didn't quite understand and asking if they could explain again.

I will also never mock anyone's* posts for typos, grammar or spelling because it's not something which should be picked on.

* Apart from Gina because she did it to me first.

The English language is changing, and not for the better.

However, it's too late to put that genie back in the bottle.

It pains me when I see people on national TV butchering the language. I.e., "Who do we got?" I'm looking at you Drew Carey (The Price is Right). This when he's asking the announcer who the next person is to play the game.

Of course, he's not the only one, just the one I remembered. And when well-known/famous people on TV and in the press can't get the language right, how can we expect our children to get it right.

I read the daily news and different sports articles extensively, and it's amazing how reporters and sports writers in articles that are published under their name make errors in grammar and sentence structure.

I guess word check and grammar check programs are no longer being used, by anyone.

Who cares bout grammar, I always see people yelling at other people about it. It's not like your filling out a application or writing a essay.

@LadyDestiny OP is not a native english speaker, and mentions doing the same in their native language. aha

(It's perfectly easy to understand that the person one corrects might not know any better. It just doesn't matter)

What if they don't know English at all?
I know, there's many players who speaks their native language just for trolling, but there's also many of players who really don't know English.

I don't mind poor spelling and grammar when the person is obviously using English as a second language. What bothers me is when people who ONLY speak English completely butcher the language. There are people in some countries who are fluent in 3+ languages, yet many people in my country struggle to properly use the only language they have known since birth. It's rather pathetic.

And yes, I know, I occasionally break some grammatical rules myself (like starting this sentence with the word "and")... I'm not talking about petty indiscretions, like occasionally misspelling a difficult word, or other mistakes that most people occasionally make. I'm talking about the simple words that many native English speakers butcher on a regular basis, words that they should have learned how to properly use in grade school. Those errors do annoy me. However, when it's obvious that a person is using English as a second language (and it usually is obvious), I am much more forgiving. I know I would completely butcher their language if the roles were reversed.

I'm doing it only when I know that they are living in Russia and they're speaking Russian very well. And if they (Russians) are starting to make stupid mistakes in chat and using net-Russian too often, it's triggering me.)

I used to be a grammar ***, but then I realized how much time I wasted by constantly correcting people on small things. It's a game, and we are here to talk about that game. We're not in school, relax.
Though it would be nice if everyone could try to speak / learn English in games.

It does'nt bother me in the slightest what the grammar is like as long as it is understandable, what really pisses me off though is peeps who insist on playing music (mostly crap) over zone chat (I know.... Its a different issue alltogether but it really grinds my gears)
