Because it makes more sense for them to try to balance things in such a way that all traits are conceivably useful, instead of only having one viable option for things. It's better actually, because you can adjust your build around traits for things you have, while you work towards something better, instead of having no in-between.

Also, if you spent millions on something, that's on you. You decided it was worth the gold, instead of the time it would take to get that thing yourself.

    Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, you make it sound as if we all have 4 weeks to waste of our lives farming inane crap that may not even drop. Me personally, I'd rather be doing mostly fun things in any given game than inanely boring *** such as farming for something in a game for weeks on end. Simply can't justify wasting weeks of my life on something that may never even appear in-game via farming.

A lot of people here claiming that the changes are due to PvP players "whining". Let's be clear, Sharpened is being nerfed because it is overperforming compared to other traits. By a lot. A random, non set Sharpened weapon is better on a dps build than a Maelstrom weapon in the "next best" trait. That is seriously a problem with trait balance, and anyone paying attention is not only not surprised by this nerf, we're surprised it didn't happen sooner, and it has nothing to do with PvP.

The mundus stone changes are also to promote build diversity, and not because of PvP balance.

The WGT and ICP nerfs are intended to make those dungeons more accessible to all (read:newer) players, so they will stop ragequitting when they come up in the groupfinder. The same will happen to the SoTH dungeons at some point, for the same reason. The rest of us will hang it on our "back in the day" shelf of imaginary titles ( "Pre-Nerf Doshia slayer", "Pre-Nerf Molag Bal survivor", "Hard mode Lyris' doppelgänger champion (sheds a tear)", ""2014 Gutstripper Ripper"; White Gold OG". ).

The proc sets are undoubtedly a sore spot for PvP're, but they are also overperforming in pve. When my 3 of the top 4 items on my trials damage report are because of what I'm wearing and not what I'm doing, that's a problem. And that's the state we've been in for awhile. It's time for a change.

Sharpened has been OP for a LONG time now. This nerf is a long time coming, and needed to happen. Finally, some other traits may become viable again.

Probably sarcasm yours, but just in case, I don't know ANYONE that have demanded resource managment changes, sharpened nerfed, things that were right nerfed too, etc.

resource management was something that needed changes badly and most player knew this. ZOS knew that for a while as well so those changes were coming eventually. Sharp/defending getting nerfed is a direct product of those VASTLY overperforming most other traits on gear and the changes result in it still being bis for many solo instances but now other traits have many more situations in which they are viable, particularly for group play. The changes on the whole are going in the right direction and will lead to more variability in sets. (and hopefully fewer "RNG is ***" crying threads)

So.. freaking buff up other traits, if balance is what needed. Buffing=improving=forward progress=more gameplay enjoyment. Nerfing=breaking=backward progress=less gameplay enjoyment!

People keep asking for change, something I don't agree with.
They get change as a result. So be it.

@carbonx : Start again NOW and see how long it takes you to get all those achievements that you parade before everyone.
What you have there is probably no longer achievable by new players starting from scratch.

I got suspenders for saying "Testicular Mass" instead of "Balls". like, rilly.

This discussion is held in numerous games every year.

After playing WoW for almost 10 years, I remember that nothing made me more mad than the constant changes in armor and weapons every few years when a new expansion was released.

And worse were the changes to spells and abilities. Almost from one expansion to the other, you had to relearn your character's spells/abilities.

I'm glad I left WoW a little over a year ago, because Blizzard increasingly gated stuff in raids, and those of us who didn't raid were left behind, and eventually left the game very frustrated by all this.

I just hope this game is going down the same path.

Gotta keep players hooked somehow, since they've said that they don't like doing intermittent patches in-between major updates.

Buffing all other traits would be far more extensive then nerfing sharpened and then people would say you are taking too much time on this instead of fixing other things in the game.Make a lot of sense to do it this way.Anyway like many have said already sharpened was too op and we all know in all the mmo we have play over the years that op things get nerfed eventually.

Instead of zos patching and getting rid of whatever disease they accidentally give the game after a dlc release they let it brew and fester for 3 months. Which means the game needs a 'big change' instead of a small one.

If they'd just fix the bugs as they come the game would be 5x better.

People have been asking for a sharpened nerf since the trait was buffed. This had to happen and I don't comprehend how anyone could not have seen this coming...
