Hidden "Special" Crown Crate Mounts

So I actually really enjoy the crate system. I use pretty much everything you can get except maybe the hats. To be fair I do have a bit of a gambling problem. I spent about $30 before I got a Wild Hunt mount (camel). Spent maybe $45 on the dwarven ones but no mount. I had enough gems so I bought the dwarven bear and called it quits. Well I was kinda bored today so I said what the hell and bought a single crate. Really just hoping for a hero costume. When I opened it up though I got an Ebon Dwarven Senche mount. After crying a few nerd tears and thanking the RNG gods I hopped on my mount and took a stroll through Abah's Landing. Totally worth it.

I have been collecting all of the senche mounts and in the past I queried internally whether I should or not with some of them but I bought them to maintain the collection. This one however has broken the chain because there is no way I'm chasing one that will be this hard to obtain.

A relief in some ways for me because now I won't get the urge to purchase a senche just to maintain a collection. So make them look good ZOS otherwise I won't be interested in future senche.

Just when I thought these crown crates couldn't be any more predatory, there are now hidden special mounts that are not under the listed rewards on front page, and thus not available for crown gems. If you go to Preview once clicking on the crown crates in store, you will see three additional mounts to the six Dwarven ones: Adamant Dwarven Horse, Ebon Dwarven Senche, and Vitrine Wolf (spelling might be off, going from memory). These do in fact exist as part of this crown crate season, I saw someone already lucky enough to have one.

I do not recall hidden special mounts in any of the previous crown crates seasons. ZO$ keeps coming up with new and improved ways to take advantage of those with gambling issues and/or who are mount collectors. Being able to buy the apex mounts outright with crown gems if you failed enough times at getting one was somewhat acceptable, but for there to be these hidden special mounts that are only available through RNG? Just sickening - a new low in the cash grab effort.

EDIT: I would like "Hidden" to be defined as hidden from the crown gem purchase options, not hidden as in invisible.

They were actually upfront about the rare mounts not available for purchase with the crown gems in the original announcement about the dwarven crates. Reading is fundamental.

People need to get over the hate for crown creates. Every mmo that is b2p or f2p has them. If you don't like them then shut up and don't buy them. At least eso has no p2w Insta max lol or 80% of the game locked behind a pay wall like most mmos.

I agree with this comment... the people getting mad about this are making themselves look so silly.

If you don't like them just don't buy them and mind your own business.

I hate the odds in the crates too but that doesn't mean I'm going to get mad at the fact that they're offered. They can sell whatever they want just as you can choose to purchase what you want.

8 pages in and people still can't understand what the issue at hand is. It isn't the crown crates themselves. It is the fact that there are 3 new mounts (and a sweetroll and research scroll, etc.) that are RNG-only. You can't buy them with crown gems. Crown gems were ZO$'s bandaid and answer to the negativity that the introduction of crown crates caused, because now you could spend some money, and if you still didn't get what you want, you could buy it with crown gems after exchanging all your duplicate crap. Now they are going back on their crown gem solution for a few ultra rare items in a predatory effort to get people to keep throwing money at crown crates for something with less than a 1% chance to get and no guarantee to buy with gems after spending enough money. That is the issue.

The issue is, you guys want it by spending minimal money possible. I doubt the chances are 1%, as i have opened 15 crates and got the Adamant Horse. I will repeat this:

I think somebody already mentioned on the post, that these mounts are unobtainable from anything else for only NOW. The chances are ZOS will put it up on crown store as a special mount category near the Mare, which will only take time.

For someone talking as matter factly. You seem to struggle with the concept of anecdotal evidence. You getting the mount is not evidence of it not being less than 1%. You can exit the conversation anytime that embarrassing feeling of being overwhelmingly wrong and making a fool of yourself kicks in.

    That is amazingly lucky. Congrats

I'd rather them do things like the crates, if it keeps ESO free for the rest of us. I will NOT buy any crates after hearing about what people are getting (I got those stupid eyebrow shields with my free crate from morrowind preorder, really nothing inside worth gambling on) I'll enjoy my 5 free crates as i will be logged in every day of the event (and summer until work begins again) but they sure dont sound like its worth paying for since not much worth the $$$$ really comes included. I will save my cash, and get another 3 month sub for the eso plus, and use those crowns towards the banker.

i am really upset about this situation, especially since i had the feeling, that when ZOS came up with crown jewels, it made many criticism vanish or get a bit more quiet, since it made the amount of money spent for an item countable by those jewels. bringing now this hidden items, looks to me, like ZOS wnats to bring its original concept again ,but this time people aren't shitstorming anymore - or at least not that much as back then. in this case, ZOS did a good job making its customers once more to idiots. I also think, this is highly disrespectfull towards the community, since ZOS, with stepping a bit back and bringing the jewels, made some kind of agreement with the ESO-Community about gambling.

I have like 32 jewels I got from the crates I bought when I first tried the game, and so what can I do with those? I'm still new to ESO (since the end of April) Thanks.

So. Let's consider taking the income from Crown crates away.

    Would that translate to layoffs?
Would that be helpful to people still wanting to play this game and have it supported properly?

Maybe be if the anti-crate lobby spent some money, we'd get the support that everyone is expecting.

    How's that for blind optimism?

Got an Adamant Dwarven Horse on my third crate. Traded for gems because stripey wolf mount is prettier.
