It amazes me how bitter some people in this game are. It's very unlike ant TES community I have ever seen.
Anywho free is always good, and unlike the Social Justice Warriors I don't see it starting any gambling addictions. I think it would be cool if subscribers gout a couple free crates a month.
This is nothing about Social Justice Warriors here at all. I had this happened to me years ago, so speaking from experience. I have seen other people buy many lottery tickets to no avail and seeing the hopelessness when they don't get what they want.
Again, a better explanation on what crates are is warranted.

Right so let's close all the ABC stores because a percentage of people are predisposed to Alcoholism. The Nanny state mentality doesn't work in government or in MMO's. This game is rated mature all so if we are following the ESRB, we are all big boys and girls who can make big boy and girls decisions without Big Brother saving us from ourselves. It's really that simple. In short if the mean old crates tempt anyone they should turn to their higher power and stop spoiling it for those of us who have willpower and self control.
Now I am just currious if the RNG on the crown crates will stay the same or be lowered / raised for this event... I for one would love one of dwarven mounts but after receiving nothing the first two seasons I decided to not buy any the 3rd season.

It will be the same. Whilst ZOS has been frustrating with some of their marketing changes and choices I don't think they're twisted (or stupid) enough to fiddle the odds during an event.
They're a professional games company, not a Steam crate gambling site.

This one likes the event even less. Free crates fair enough. This one she will use because she knows she will not pay for any more. Khajiit is as strong willed as a nix ox.
However for others it might be drawing them into irresistible temptation and spending too much. That has always been the main concern of this one as regards the crates. The other main concern being you do not know what you pay for.
Well if Khajiit she is not paying then ok - nothing it is lost in the opening.
This one should also say she opened the crate that came with MW. This one found it to be unpleasant and received nothing but the junk yes.
So this one she would say open your free crates if you feel you wish to - but do not let that draw you into buying more than you would otherwise have done. If you feel you are the sort of person who may give in then leave your free crates alone.
The other part of the event - the free ESO Plus is much much better. With this you know what you pay for and this one she considers it to be worth it.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom - Hi Jessica, On the point of not being negative, while this event in my personal opinion seems only a Publicity/ Marketing stunt. The game would be much better off and attract many more player, If you'd just fix the problems in the game. It has been evident, that many people have left or stopped playing the game because they got tired of your promises and getting no result despite of waiting a long time. The quality (not quantity) of content is lucrative but not without fault and that in most of the case has been the reason for so many negative reviews and resulting in many people not only shying away from getting in but a major reason for leaving.
#SAYNOTOCROWNCRATES- free or not.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.
John Lydgate is credited with writing,“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.
It would be interesting to hear Lyndgate's take on the ESO crowd. Zos can't even give out free crown crates to it's plus members and for the non plus members five days of plus time , without criticism.

I get ESO+ free for the duration of the event. Check.
So do I get to claim the crates if I don't keep ESO+ after the event ends?
You need to go read the announcement again.
ESO Plus trials do not get the bonus crates. Paying subs do.
TL;DR A better explanation for what Crates are is needed.ZOS_JessicaFolsom wrote: »It's something we're trying out to increase visibility for in-game events, important promotions/sales, and such. Please give us your honest (but constructive) feedback!
Honest opinion? This is criticism not suppose to be a negative comment. First thing I thought of is this is like a drug dealer giving a "free sample". You take it and you are hooked. By that I mean it's gambling. A rose by any other name still smells as sweet. So getting a free sample and for someone who got caught up in a casino with the gambling bug and loosing all their money, it's a little immorale thing to do.
While I can see why you do it, like a demo, the sad thing is, because of the randomness to it, it's like a slot machine. For some people they get "hooked" because it's almost like a disease for some people and to count on these people for money I just find wrong.
I really hope you think of this as constructive so you can find a way to not make people loose lots of money when they normally wouldn't have done so. I know when I got my one free crate from Morrowind I wanted more so went to buy more until I saw the prices. OUCH. I did end up buying the 5000 crowns worth after CAREFULLY waying in my decision to see if it was worth it for me or not. I can really see where people will go over board.
Great thing is, that nothing is PAY TO WIN so is really Not Needed, but nice to have.
So for my constructive criticism I guess from my post, I don't know what really these crates are. So a better explanation is needed to FULLY EXPLAIN what the crates are for.
