AP doesnt give you anything, so you dont need to grind it.
As its now, after all those changes and stupid AP boosts we got though patches, its too easy to get high ranked anyway.
Too many high ranked noobs running around.
Grand Overlord is one of the things left you really have to work for. Like endgame pve achievements.
So dont come here and demand we get it handed for free

Disregard this post, its rubbish.
AP gives you tons of of sheet: golden jewelry, monster sets, overland sets, pvp sets, valuable motifs, skillpoints, etc etc etc.
G.O. is a function of how much you play, not how well; not really an achievement in the literal sense of the word.

then neither are endgame pve achievments a real achievment. But only show how much pve someone does. How long they train rotations, grind for gear to get bis...
golden jewelry from about 5 usefull sets, that get repeated since 1T?
overland sets which you can get easier from overland grind or just buying.
Motifs that doesnt give you anything cos no craftable set is really good.
Your post is rubbish.

Well to be fair when they get grand overlord they'll have millions of ap to show for it, which they'll convert to gold.

Nobody here thinks skill points aren't an incentive to do the Alliance Rank grind??
You're willing to just write off those 50 skill points for your character?

um actually no, the enlightenment system (as with CP if you are unfamiliar) only creates a pool of double xp (or in this case AP) if you are not playing ESO for a long period of time, and caps at a specific amount.
so if you were to pvp constantly, you would actually have no bonus AP
if you pvp off and on, you would benefit from bonus ap for a limited time.
there would be NO DECREASE on the Minimum amount of time required to attain grand overload.
rather, there would be a decrease on the maximum time required to play.
*if that's still too hard to understand.*
say it takes 10 days minimum to reach grand overlord for player A, and 100 days for player B.
player A plays constantly and lives in pvp, player B mostly PvE's and does not play as much ESO as player A
if enlightenment were added to AP
it would still take player A 10 days to reach grand overlord, and say 60 days ish for player B.
as player A plays enough that they would not benefit from it, but player b does not play as frequently so gets a small bonus when they do.
same ceiling, higher floor.
this concept has been added to ALOT of games over the years and will only continue to grow, its a catch up mechanic. if you think its a new invention, the Mario cart blue shell is the same thing actually! XD

@laksikus You don't get flawless conquerer for doing vMA one hundred times, you get it for doing it without a death. You get Grand Overlord by earning a certain amount of AP from any source.

@KochDerDamonen
If you cant do msa flawless after 100 tried nobody can help you. Everyone should be able to do flawless after he did it 99 times unless his ping is bad
You do it enough times and you remember spawn points and mechanics. And sooner or later flawless will come to you anyway.
I got it on 4 chars by chance. Didnt try for flawless once and still got it without using any sigils.

Why should it be easier for players who don't PvP much to achieve alliance ranks? If you guys want the ranks, then go PvP.
