I've never called anyone an elitist. I've thought it a time or two, but if someone is actually trying to help me, I would never try to alienate them. I've only thought it when someone is spamming their skills in front of a large group of players because they think it makes them look cool.
And @Orjix ...um, my feelings wouldn't be hurt if you explained to me about animation cancelling.

@CMFan1966 well, i still am TERRIBLE at it and im not really sure how it works, but the basic idea is that after casting an ability you preform another action so that both of the effects play out at the same time, thus you dont have to wait for the complete animation to play before doing something else. the ability you use is mathed in immediately, but you cant preform another action untill the animation is played out so by doing something that ends the animation (light attacking, bar swapping) you can put in more abilities in a shorter amount of time- upping your DPS. this was a pretty bad explanation and there are a lot more guys who understand this a LOT better then i do or can, so just search it up (in my experiance asking your guild only gets you no help and you get called an idiot a lot "what? your cp 550 and you dont know what animation canceling is? what a moron!")
I really hope you didnt ask this as a joke or i just made myself look like an idiot, its a good thing i dont care
Explaining things to people????! Pfff.. Elitist. :P

I believe explaining the basics of a fight - the mechanics as people often refer to it - is fine.
It's when players start trying to micromanage how others play (for example telling them what skills to slot etc.) when problems arise. So I would try to avoid doing that when ever possible.

we kicked him and I just switched to dps and we just 3dps the rest of the dungeoun with ease. The players who take this game way too serious are elitist Imo
If group wipes, at least wipes more than one, you talk tactic.anitajoneb17_ESO wrote: »I understand you meant well but... don't give advice to someone who hasn't asked for it.

(I just gave you an advice that you haven't asked for and... well, there's a good chance you're not happy about it. Which demonstrates its validity.)
Link some achievements to enforce the elitist image after they name youLike 2-3 times, cuz salty ass players lmao. Just take it as a compliment it makes them even more mad.

I'm CP 559 and have been called an elitist 3 times in the past two weeks. Why? For simply explaining mechanics that people are so blatantly trying to ignore. Mind you I am very polite each time, I don't mind helping new players learn because I was once there. 2 times in a dungeon on my healer, one of which I had to tank and dd because the rest of the group was incapable to either hold taunt or stop light attacking with bows (vet Blessed Crucible and yes it was pug), another pug vet dungeon trying to explain mechanics and a trial from today. No one knew the mechanics in nMoL and were running around accidentally killing one another. Near full wipe but we managed to res.
Am I to expect this now that I am getting closer to CP cap? Which I still have far to go.... I know people are going to suggest trying guilds for raids and dungeons, but most of the time everyone is already busy or just don't do anything.

So you went on to dps the rest easy with just three after kicking the healer that wasnt healing the dps. And after the kick, no one was healing the dps cause you didnt get a new 4th, but were still fine....
Then what was the point in kicking the Healer in the first place?

Thank you for trying to help others. Obviously many of us could use some pointers. I've just come back after leaving at the end of beta and I'm working on getting my head around this game.
Others have pointed out that some people are just going to be offended if you try to help them. While others have noted that some (not necessarily you ) will write things in an "elitist" way without meaning to. I have found that the best way to help is to offer to help, not to just tell them what they did wrong.
I've been gaming a long, long time and the people that do it the best seem to combine being a teacher and just leading. These are people that are willing to carry a player. Allowing the newb to have some fun without stressing. Often I have found these players are guild or raid leaders and have had tons of experience teaching guild mates.
If your willing to take the time, offer to mentor and see what happens.
As to the elitist bit, don't take it to heart. But do self assess if you think that there is a chance that the elitist comment was valid.
oh, just an example:Why? For simply explaining mechanics that people are so blatantly trying to ignore.
umm, if you were thinking that way when you told them what they were doing wrong.....I bet it came off as elitist.
If they're newbs, they don know the mechanics. most likely even of their own toons.

CP is not an indicator of skill

I got called an elitist once when I apologised but refused to continue a run through vCoA2 after we spent 10 minutes killing the first boss. I was the tank doing 2k DPS, total group DPS was about 12k.

Good that you're learning how does it look from the other side. Usually it's noobs compaining at the forums about "elitists" that they tell how to play (like... how rude of them to explain s#!t, isn't it?).agingerinohio wrote: »How many times have you been called an elitist?
