Costume can't be dyed black . It's like 60% black. The top is all grey...

And you slapped on a bow on the crotch... like really = UNWRAP ME ON 4h of JULY?

A lot of the color dye in odd ways. The pants are often way darker than they should be for the color. Some of the color with fun tonal UV mapping just don't really work. Seems overall the lighter colors do better. This also holds true for the Grazelands Gentlemer Farmer outfit.

As BigBragg mentioned this isn't new or unusual. I actually rather like it. I never considered making a costume single-color before but I'm thinking of reconsidering.

Yeah ... this costume is really disappointing. I can't get it to dye in a way that doesn't look atrocious. My pale-skinned ginger Breton needs dark and vibrant colors, not pale washed out shades of grey. Wish I could do a dye preview before purchasing (although I suppose I should've checked here first).

Back to the Majestic Dunerider getup she goes.

It doesn't take most colors but black is definitely the worst. Do they try dyes on costumes before releasing?

This is how i feel every time i buy something from the Crown Store. I buy it, but end up never using it because of issues like these.

A lot of costumes are like that, some sections just don't hold the color well (like has been mentioned, more of a tint). Can still make for some cool effects though, just have to find something that works with it.

Yeah, it looks really bad. Needs fixing. And like somebody else mentioned, if they don't try dyeing their costumes, they really need to. That's simple QA.

As much as I actually love the appearance of this costume, the fact that it doesn't dye well at all is extremely disappointing. Not unexpected considering a lot of other costumes do this, but extremely disappointing anyway. I have specific color schemes for every character and a lot of them just don't work.

The character I wanted to use this on most looks odd in it because I can't get the right colors. The shirt part is supposed to be red, but it doesn't take reds at all in the front. For some reason, the shirt has more color in the back than it does on the front. The pants are dyed with Thalmor Black and the boots have Coldharbour Ash Black. Those look the same.

Verona may wind up keeping her Ordinator Night Raid outfit.

Y'all, there's color ranges on every dye, and the base albedo of the material is taken into account. You can see very clearly with the Trans Violet image that it's using the bottom-end shade of the dye you're using, and applying it to a light tone on the top and dark tones on the other sections.

The top is not going to be black, it's meant to be bright and colorful. Want a nice blue? Blademaster's Muave. A green tone? Akatosh Scales Gold. Purple? Magnus Setting Red. The bottom tones are going to come out.

THIS. They need to start providing a preview that lets you check dyes on costumes! There are costumes that not only don't "take" dyes but quite a few had ridiculous BROWN parts that you can't dye AT ALL! Who the heck makes these decisions? I was so excited about this costumes and the ones that will be coming after it but now I very much doubt I'll buy any of them as I am sure they will suffer from this same horrible "style choice."

Anyone tried Legate Black on the costume?

Coldharbour Ash Black is a decent enough dye ... but isn't really the black standard for comparison purposes.

Yeah, that's great and all, except that the entire dyeing mechanic is in place so you can change colors away from how it is 'meant to be'.

That's not new, I'm pretty sure it's something with the way dyes in general work with materials. It's annoying sometimes but imo it's rather interesting actually, kinda gives it a sense of realism. Aether(Celestial) and Martial Knowledge(whatever style that is) robes never dyed well, there're more than a few other costumes and armor styles alike that share that behavior.

Only thing that really bugs me about it is how some of the crown store exclusive dyes seem to happily override that rule. Someone please preview the new crown store red on that thing?
