I'm guessing there's probably only a 1% chance of getting one.
No, it is less than 1% according to data collection.
Edit:
According to Enodoc's spreadsheet, the odds of getting the Adamant Dwarven Horse is 1 in 272 crates. Admittedly, sample size is only 543.
Oddly enough, the CDC says that this is the same as the odds of a person dying as the result of a car accident. I have no idea what that means, but Google does give the most interesting search results.

I would rather die in the car accident then buy gambling boxes...
I agree just like most state lotteries odds should always be divulged if the playerbase has no means of acquiring them. What I can't get on board with is all this hate at the crate system. It's a lottery and I see two complaints here:
1) The lottery shouldn't exist at all. Ok, that's just your opinion. Everything isn't free. Just because you paid for the game and even if you sub for it you're entitled to absolutely additional not outlined in the terms of your purchase. That's like going to Toys'R'us, buying an action figure with included parts, and expecting any future additional parts to be provided because you purchased the original figure at no additional cost. We call that communist. That is not how most of the world works financially.
2) No issue with buying the crates as long as you can acquire a currency to purchase the said "jack pot" items. Again that doesn't really make sense. That's like saying well if I purchase 10 lotto tickets a week for 20 years I should be able to acquire markers that ensure I will win the mega million jackpot at some preordained time.
It's gambling. Yes there are cool things locked behind it. It's just a lottery system, and it doesn't make a corporation some sort of hideous villian for incorporating it. It makes them capitalists.

No you aren't entitled to anything above your purchase, agreed? The second complaint isn't really the same, or wasn't. The fact that people knew there was a finite amount of money to be spent before they hit the jack pot was the only reason people like myself bought them. It wasn't an infinite gamble, even if the odds sucked we knew we could get what we wanted eventually. Secondly, I love the argument about casinos and lotteries, we aren't gambling for money here, just pixles, now if they want to offer me real money to gamble on the crates I may change get my view.
It's amazing hw many people don't seem to understand the concept of what pepole are upset about. It's not the gamble that upset most of us complaining, hell I enjoyed the thrill of the crates, but now with the extra fluff, lower gem conversion and the fact that they have hidden things behind a weighted rng system is the problem. You tell me what it looks like when they make the nix hound a lower tier reward than other pets, and all of a sudden it seems to appear more often than other rewards of the same level. Why was it made a lower tier rewward. Why would a 200 gem motif book only return 33 gems? Why all of a sudden did they add more lower tier rewards, diluting the rng pool?
Yep they are capitalist, and I'm a consumer with the right to complain about a product I purcahsed. I wonder now that there is a true gambling aspect to the crates will they be forced to show you the actual odds, you know lie other gambling items such as casinos and lotteries. I mean of its gambling then odds should be published.
Many of us who were crown crate defenders feel cheated, that's not something that any company wants their customers to feel. I could just as easily spend my money elsewhere, I don't think any company has a business model that would want that.

It's not the idea of contributing money that bothers me. I sub, I buy all mounts (it's my thing), I buy many of the other cosmetics 'cos I just get a kick out of my characters looking 'right' and I own a lot of the houses.
I've bought enough crates to have most of the apex mounts because I work in a job that allows me enough money to buy crowns - so while I think selling gamble crates is the moral equivalent of opening a bar in an AA meeting at least they have been finite because sooner or later you can get to the gem level needed to get what you want.
This change is the moral equivalent of selling smack on school playgrounds because there is no longer a finishing line for the spend and given the very very low hit rate for previous apex mounts it's a safe bet these are going to be even rarer with no way to build up the necessary gems.
And as someone who is probably the target of stuff like this I am offended - I have been more than generous to this game, I've just been stitched up for a new 'chapter' which doesn't even work yet and now you want even more of my money... I am so glad I don't have a gambling problem 'cos this is a cold and calculated attempt to prey on those who do and whoever came up with this and signed off on it should have a long hard look in the mirror...
The airlines, too. Many airlines treat their customers like garbage, and don't give two flying farts if the customers complain.aisriyth_ESO wrote: »What is funny is i work in customer service for a large company and i can attest to this that we never want to make our clients feel cheated at any point. Yes, the crates are only getting worse. I've hated them since they were announced. The very first season I bought a 15 pack and it only disgusted me further.
The fact they tried to initially sell these as a "way to get previous crown store items" is also disgusting. The (large) majority of items in these crates are not past items. Initially it sounded like if you were an avid crown store purchaser (I am) you would do well. No, you don't.
These are getting more predatory and disgusting as they go. I'm not even sure why I'm surprised. I'm almost sure at some point they'll release home exclusive to crates, heck maybe even crown crate exclusive motifs that cannot be purchased for gems. This sounds like a stretch now, but it probably honestly isn't. I'll probably still be surprised when those things happen, even though I shouldn't.
I loved sub-to-play. It was best for me. Buy to play with crown store? Sure. Little annoyed at first but I could make informed decisions on what I purchased with my hard-earned money.
RNG loot boxes are too far.
With these mounts not being available for gems I'm even seeing people who enjoyed and purchased crown crates start to turn sour about them - as they should.
The more items they put behind a gambling wall, the less I purchase from the regular crown store. I also don't purchase crates. So it's just straight up less money for me.Mephisto939 wrote: »I don't think it's a conspiracy folks. Probably just an oversight.
An oversight isn't something you specifically point out in the web site article about the crates. @Mephisto939

No it won't change anyone's life, that isn't the point. The point is some people who collected items, for what ever reasons, are now denied that option. Just because you don't prioritize the same things doesn't make it any less frustrating for others. Some people are frustrated at PVP, some at housing and their complaints are no more legitimate than the ones expressed here.
Seeing how this is the place to voice your opinions, I see no problems here. As long as they are legitimate complaints and not some overly drastic demands or whining. Without customers voicing their objections there would be no change.

I agree with this comment... the people getting mad about this are making themselves look so silly.
If you don't like them just don't buy them and mind your own business.
I hate the odds in the crates too but that doesn't mean I'm going to get mad at the fact that they're offered. They can sell whatever they want just as you can choose to purchase what you want.

8 pages in and people still can't understand what the issue at hand is. It isn't the crown crates themselves. It is the fact that there are 3 new mounts (and a sweetroll and research scroll, etc.) that are RNG-only. You can't buy them with crown gems. Crown gems were ZO$'s bandaid and answer to the negativity that the introduction of crown crates caused, because now you could spend some money, and if you still didn't get what you want, you could buy it with crown gems after exchanging all your duplicate crap. Now they are going back on their crown gem solution for a few ultra rare items in a predatory effort to get people to keep throwing money at crown crates for something with less than a 1% chance to get and no guarantee to buy with gems after spending enough money. That is the issue.

So from what i understand the only people complaining are collectors. Alright. Pretty much this. I still haven't bought a single Crate, and never will. I'm assuming most of the people upset about this "change" went ahead and bought a bunch of Dwarven Crates anyway. Everyone else is still just upset that Crates exist at all.
Stop buying them if you finally agree the system is ***. 5000 Crowns for 15 Crates, right? That's almost the price of the Morrowind expansion. Which would you rather see more of? Vote with your wallet, folks.
