I would also like to add that I'm tired of the alchemy dailies taking all my Nirnroots! I have a whole bag full of reagents, but that's the only one anyone wants (that, or Lorkhan's Tears)?

So much THIS!!! I had almost 50 nirnroot the other day. I've been doing my writs like normal. I have not purposely used any nirnroot whatsoever and now I'm down to 17. I have almost 2000 alkahest though.

    Well, IMO...

First - Alchemy writs are one of if not the single most profitable writs going, esp at tier 1. if you do not want the three-pak nirnroot charge run the tier-1s and get basically the exact same rewards except for using tier-1 solvents and getting tier-1 solvents/fat. Are you short on alkesht?

Second, the only thing making tier-10 writs even the slightest teensiest bit of time involved to get that tier-10 master writ chance is the nirnroot three-pack 3/4 of the time. otherwise, it is basically a freebie one would never notice if one gathers routinely. So complaining about the only thing making it a tiny bit of time as opposed to a total freebie is, maybe to some, odd - especially given the tier-1 option. This is basically asking for free master writs chances.

Third, as I and others have done, figuring out the balance point where with your playstyle, content choices and writs done you have a balance between nirnroot used and nirnroot gained is key. no burning bush on a mountain top ever said "thou shalt get all top tier writs for free on all characters without effort/time" and so you can choose to complain on forums or to work out how many chars do tier-1 alchey writs (no master chance but mostly the same) and how many do top tier alcheys (master chance) given your nirnroot net. There are options including gold-in-guild stores and shadowy supplier and sop forth to supplement your gathering thru your normal play.

What options you chose, including forum complaining, are up to you of course. There are always in the "just make it easy and free" camp for most anything. I bet plenty would be happy to run tier-10 smithing, woodwork and clothier writs on 14 chars every day and never have to spend a tiny bit of time/effort on mats too.

For me, right now i have 14 characters doing alchey writs daily at top tier, but i have in the past had that at 6-6 and 8-4 (top-tier-v-tier-1) due to playstyle and content being run at those points. its not a problem cuz i basically now just use two days of writ-gold each week (just the gold, not the stuff) to buy all the extra nirns i need.) So my nirnroot-for-writs gathering time is like 10m twice a week plus whatever i come across casually. For that i have a growing stockpile of surveys and ingredients and also about a dozen alchey master writs i really ought to do just to get them out of my inventory.

But if ZOS does decide to change to cater to these complaints about nirnroot and top tier writs, let me make a suggestion - dont go halfway. instead of removing the one thing making top tier alchey writs even slightly nigglingly noticable in effort/time, just make alchey writs work like hirelings and deliver daily our writ boxes full of goodies. Why should we have to do a few meaningless clicks a day with no effort or strain on mats that require no real activity. just go ahead and deliver the goods so we dont even have to go to the trouble of the like 50 clicks once every month or two and 5ish clicks a day to get the rewards.

They can be replaced by Water Hyacinth, so if you are looking for Nirnroot, you need to pick the Hyacinth to get them to spawn.
No, that is incorrect. A node that spawns Hyacinth will always spawn Hyacinth, and vice-versa. Nirnroot and Hyacinth are the only alchemical reagent nodes that are always stable--i.e., they will always spawn as the same type every time.

Nope, I was walking around in the same place ...lets say it was questing for a few hours. They defiantly replace each other from time to time, but then again... I rather you not know that.

the biggest problem as i see it is that... every other herb can be found in surveys. mushrooms/poison ingredients cannot and neither can nirnroot. except.. at least mushrooms are barely needed for writs. nirnroot is required.

so. at a minimum, IMO, nirnroot SHOULD spawn inside survey areas that are at least next to bodies of water. not all of the surveys are, and the ones that are middle of dry land- fine no nirn. but the ones by the water should have a decent chance of giving us nirnroot. (well that and more max level writs that i don't know.. require lorkan's tears instead of nirn, the way low level writs require water sometimes)

Ok let me put it this way...

In craglorn, the main writ city belkarath or whatever, right behind the enchanting store, their is a creek.

up slightly off the water, beside the thieve's den entrance is a nirroot node that i have never ever seen produce water hyacinth.

it is not on the water but near it. A good couple meters between it and water.

    always nirnroot.
I'm a thieving ***, so after turning in my daily crafting writs, I harvest that node every day on my way to cash in at that Thieves Den. It's always Water Hyacinth for me. I'm PC NA if that matters.

As for the OP, I find Nirnroot all the time, but I don't actively look for them. They're shiny, so I pick them up as I play. I have hundreds. But I have no doubt that once I actually start to look for Nirnroot, I won't find any because that's just a law of the universe - you never find things when you look for them.

unless it has changed there is a water hyac on the bank right in the stream but up by the thieves trapdoor on the hilkl right by the wall is a nirn... at least last i checked.
