The only stuff I buy from Guild Traders are Glyphs for weapons and armor cause my Crafter can't Enchant, and Motif Chapters that I really want.

That is one area where I could see myself using a guild trader, but then I developed a system plus I have majority of the traits researched by now. Kind of glad I didn't think to though.

I won't qualify for any trading guilds. So I don't make tons of gold, so I can't buy tons of things. I have a friend who's crafted cheapy stuff for me to use for trait research, as well as made me health pots and food in very small quantities. I've bought a number of laurels to use on my mostly merc armor on my main. I've also bought some things for research. But given the most gold I've ever had at once has been maybe 70K, I certainly haven't been a whale at the traders. Since I got my main in her crafted CP160 gear I haven't needed to make much anyway.

I'm short of 9 traits on everything. I have no idea where to find nirnhorned gear to research, or if I could afford it.

What do you need to qualify for a trading guild? **noob question**

Depends on the guild but they usually require you to be making a certain amount of gold per day/week/month from trading (the lowest I remember seeing was 5k per week) and have very strict rules on activity - like they kick you if you're offline for 3 days.

How can they know how much I'm making per week though? Do you have to report it?

I recently asked to join a trading guild, but because I really need some help with learning everything... I dont know where to start so... for a different thread I guess. Don't want to get off track. Thank you.

It's not that you need to sell x amount, they charge x amount per week. 5k is pretty standard unless it's a Capitol city, then it goes up to 10k. Honestly it's not hard making money in this game.you don't have to be a hardcore player either. I make about 200k a week with smaller sale items.

I mostly do my own stuff. However, I don't believe in hoarding any particular mat/item, and think that gold is the best thing to hold (I'm not saying that is correct or not). So I keep a minimum of mats/items that I feel I may need in some immediate use, and sell the rest. If a need comes up that I can't meet with my stock, I exchange gold to obtain what I need. Most of my gear is crafted or picked up, but I also buy to fill in pieces or get rid of AP through the golden vendor.

Just so you know - researching nirnhoned can't be done on a single character, as only one nirnhoned item can drop for a given character in the game. So you can get enough alts through the single quest that drops a nirnhoned item and trade them all to a single character to research them all, or you can trade with others to obtain nirnhoned gear for research.

Consumables and gear. I do pvp with all but accessories crafted and it works ok, though you then lack a monster set and not many are willing to do that.

Other because I have and use monster options.

Im pretty sure those who voted 100% aren't master crafters then since you have to interact with other people for nirn items.

Well im too lazy to farm all motifs and style materials and i don't own argonian dungeon dlcs anyway.

I'm completely self-sustained. If I didn't gather or make it.. I don't have it. But, thanks to the magical crafting bag... I have hundreds and for many mats.. thousands of them. I am also an obsessive gatherer. I never met a crafting resource node I didn't like... or want. :)

All done in house, got so many mats stockpiled that I can craft gold level at max any time I feel like, even with selling discount stuff in guild stores. And also it means I get to enjoy the fury when the gear cap goes up and the min max mob with their sharpened maelstrom staves get to do the gear grind all over again :D

I'm a proud crafter and farmer, as I never have to rely on anyone for anything that is craftable. Thus saving me both gold, and more importantly — time. When you are a crafter and farmer, not only are you self-reliant. But you also make a fair amount of gold crafting for others who aren't crafters, and selling things to people whom aren't farmers. Seems like a win-win to me.

i use gear i crafted on about half of my characters. For some the drops combine dtoo well.
i craft consumables for every characters.

i buy and sell a lot of stuff.

The way i see it, if i enjoy "harvesting gold" from dungeons or delves or quests more than i enjoy harvesting ore or logs or silks or running zones for random set drops, why not do what i enjoy more and then use the guild stores to convert that resource (gold) into the right mats or piece of gear.

For me, harvesting is harvesting and whether it comes directly from nodes or indirectly from guild stores is only a good way for others to do what they want and me to do what I want while we all get what we need through exchanges.

That said, it is uncommon for me to buy mats... got so many flowing in from hirelings, writs, casual harvest-on-the-go and surveys. But if i need some mats for this thing and i dont want to run survey zones, i go convert gold for mats at a good seller in a heartbeat.

I recall someone once griping about heartwood, they had spent an entire morning "harvesting it" and only gotten two when it sold for like 400-500 each. My comment was in an hour of doing almost any content in the pve game they would have earned gold to buy much much more than that. Did not get thru.

We each enjoy different contents in different degrees.
    Different contents drop/favor/output different resources.
Different players/playstyles need different things in different amounts.
The stores just allow us to convert between resources with players whose needs and surpluses are different from ours and win-win.

I have 2 alts with 9 traits researched. 9 alts are still researching the 8th trait on all disciplines. My main have random trait researched on several disciplines so I need to fix that. Finally, I am still leveling my 2 new wardens before I can begin the research process on them.

You really should start researching as soon as possible, since the time required goes up the more traits you research. When I start a new character, I usually start research while the character is still in coldharbor jammies.
