What is up with ESO for Australian players and is there any fix?

PVP, Vet maelstrom and vet trials are fun when you have 300 - 500 ping :-D

Really adds to the difficulty :-D

The fix for me is do a 4 man dungeon and the lag goes away.

Interesting, this has been my fix since way before Morrowind..

Sometimes when I first log in I get latency around 300-500ish, more often since Morrowind but generally before also.. I've put it down to increased population and the fact that I always log in during prime time....
But weirdly, a quick 4 man sorts it double time, (by the second or third boss I'll be back in the white) I'd be interested to see if anyone else gets the same results.......

Yep my latency has increased by about 100 since morrowind launch (280 ->400). Still playable...just, if I don't PvP and move out of the red circles before they form.

My Brother lives in Perth, Aus and plays on the PS4 EU server without much hassle.

Do you guys find animation canceling a bit harder with higher pings? When my ping is good(250ms) it's not too bad. But lately it's more like 300ms - 500ms and I find it harder to do and definitely affects my dps.

I find it much harder as the ping goes higher. 250 - 300 ms seems OK (while much harder than from Europe) Above 450ms I find it impossible to anim cut

During some battles in cyrodiil i see a +999 latency and then disconnect. this is happening every few minutes in Cyrodiil.

Canberra on NBN through Telstra. I get 280-320ms latency. My understanding is that fits squarely into what one would mathematically expect for the distance.

ESO (or any other MMO) is not unplayable, though.

    Usually around 230 from Seoul.

But the last couple of days have been ridiculous with lots of random disconnects whether in pvp or out.

I suspect the game is laggier because of the influx of new players brought by the expansion. What makes you think it's particular to Australians?

Why, because of all the people I have chatted to in game. Most Americans say that their latency has not changed whilst quite a few aussies have mentioned a latency increase.

    European here.

My latency's gone up a bit, but the red latency spikes have become regular now.

Every ESO server is in the US (correct me if I'm wrong @ZOS_GinaBruno ), even in the EU where I live with a fiberglass internet-connection, my ping is usally around 100, while a speedtest says I should be around 10 - 15. So it not only you in australia, its all around the globe.

An alternative method might be to find a private VPN with a high ping that is in the U.S.; then tunnel your traffic through that VPN to the U.S. exit point, which should have a higher ping. I am not sure if the VPN protocol encapsulation will cause too much overhead, but if you have a wired connection to your home router, it shouldn't be too bad.

Bruh, if they can't get a handle on lagging and crashing (which, for me have been occurring well over a year now) in the NA megaserver, but Australia and elsewhere.. well, I don't know what to tell you.

Often I have to click on skill twice just to get them to work...so yeah synchronising rotations can be challenging and weapon swapping can be a bit hit & miss.

I dropped 100 dollars on ESO Gold and the Morrowind Expansion a week before Morrowind's release and was super excited. I got in the game and the amount of lag was horrendous, thought it was just my internet but apparently it is for all Australian players.

Is there any fix to this or is it just how the game is, that Australian players can basically screw off.

With the distance your data has to travel to either server and variables that are due to bad switches and bad paths your data takes lag will happen, though there are many who play in the top raiding teams form AUS so they can get past it.

There is a service(s) that can improve the ping by routing your data via more preferred paths that may help and I am not sure if that is what some AUS players use or not. Also, your local internet can add to it depending on it's quality, this is the case with one player I know from AUS.

I know nothing about networking concerning megaservers. But I do know that since the release of this mmo my ping has been constant between 90-120 (minus the lag spikes that happen randomly) and I am in Utah. That ping is high for me compared to the other mmos I play. I guess it's a megaservers thing, or zos incompetence. Shrugs..

Apples and oranges. A comparison of "ping" numbers depends on what "ping" is defined as, and how it is calculated.
