What is up with ESO for Australian players and is there any fix?

I dropped 100 dollars on ESO Gold and the Morrowind Expansion a week before Morrowind's release and was super excited. I got in the game and the amount of lag was horrendous, thought it was just my internet but apparently it is for all Australian players.

Is there any fix to this or is it just how the game is, that Australian players can basically screw off.

I suspect the game is laggier because of the influx of new players brought by the expansion. What makes you think it's particular to Australians?

    1. No Australian servers
    2. For every person I know who is Australian and played the game they said it's unplayable
    3. The ping is over 400

the number of players has surged, give it a bit. personally I am close to the server and I still get 150-200. Besides I know aus net is not the best though I hear they are starting to upgrade it.

Yep my latency has increased by about 100 since morrowind launch (280 ->400). Still playable...just, if I don't PvP and move out of the red circles before they form.

Australia has crappy internet and anything that relies us to connect to overseas servers is slow.

Getting jumped on by someone in PVP (especially if they use animation canceling) usually leads to death because of the connection speed. In the time it takes me to see I have been attacked and for the server to receive my response, I am usually dead or so close to it that nothing can save me.

Why, because of all the people I have chatted to in game. Most Americans say that their latency has not changed whilst quite a few aussies have mentioned a latency increase.

Yes Australia and New Zealand have a terrible disadvantage because we're so far from the server. But many of us do play and have fun but it can be very trying sometimes.

I'm from Perth as well and my ping is around the same, I love pvp in games and prefer my usual ping on games which is 70. This ping is really annoying to play the game on, which is why I spent maybe 5 hours on it then just dropped it due to the annoying spikes and pvp troubles.

My ping is largely unchanged since Morrowind and usually sits around 230 to 280. I do suffer from peak internet usage times between 7:30pm and 10:30pm though because of having a cable internet connection and so my ping goes up to 300 to 400 constantly. As far as I'm concerned, it's not the game at fault, it's our distance to the servers and our infrastructure being third rate

I live right next to the servers and I average ~120 ping (1 Gbit internet, 20-30 ping in shooters). It's an MMO. They are always laggy as ***. Being in Australia is many times worse, obviously.

Few games have Australian servers due to the low Australian population.

I'm in Melbourne. Right now I'm on my partner's PC (Bigpond) and I'm getting 244-271ms. At home I'm on iinet and the numbers are similar.

I do think the game is laggier but it's not because releasing Morrowind did anything to latency (it couldn't).

Because there's no Asian server, your ping will be like 300-400, isn't it obvious?

True that. He wouldn't get 70 ping to Sydney or Melbourne, let alone anywhere OS. Or does Perth have a secret stash of mirror servers for all these games that nobody else knows about?

No, it's not obvious. 300-400 ping is more common when trying to play on a European server, whether for ESO, AW, WoT or whatever. Around 250-300 is more common for NA servers, and under 200 for SEA servers.

There is no way you have a ping of 70 for a US server in Perth. I have a ping of 70 for an east coast of Australia server (LoL).

My ping on NA is 300. I basically double tap all my abilities.. I wish there was a way to avoid the double tapping of all my abilities because it just burns all my mag or stam. Most of the time for PVE I don't have too much difficulty. Just there are times when my ping just spikes and I die. This is mostly likely to happen at the start of a boss fight when people throw thier first volley. It has made being a tank really really difficult. Also Dolmens just don't load half the time and I have a hard time navigating wayrest, grahtwood, mournhold and belkath without freezing. (Why can't I put in my writs just anywhere!)

I have actually played a ton of Cryodil PVP, but I play cheese and have no intention of surviving a fight. I stay away from the zerg (because my game just freezes if there are large numbers of people on screen). I man the seige and I backdoor resources and towns for more small scale fighting. I see Cryodil as a chess match where I am the pawn... not as a test of my skill... With 300 ping and the likelyhood of a completely freeze so high it should be a lot less fun than it is.

I won my first duel, that was fun.. I took me ages to work out where my opponents fireballs where coming from.. Ambush + Onslaught... I win..
