Counter to Soul Assault

It cost my medium armor toon 17k stamina to block soul assault. Is this intended? Because then it means stamina builds do not have a reliable counter to Soul assault.

✭Line of sight is the best counter in my experience. also it doesn't take anywhere near that amount of stamina to block SA considering the ability is like 3-4 ticks?3 -
Destyran✭✭✭✭✭What about the counter to sorcs that heavy attack you with the oblivion damage set with oblivion enchant while simultaneously soul assaulting you with a 95k tooltip while in a shield?? Can we have that counter??9 -

I just tested it. I went from 37.2k stamina to 19.9k stamina.6 -

If Line of Sight isn't an option, Elusive Mist is a great way of shrugging off the damage Soul Assault does...Unyeilding Bias

oMrRust✭✭✭✭Soul assault used to be able to be countered by bashing.. but it sucks they patched it so you can't bash it.
and they recently made a change to the templar ability with that dark yellow bubble.. i forget its name but it reflects projectiles. but now you can't break free from that and it sucks lol2 -

Honestly i think changing it so its 3-4 ticks could help players getting soul assaulted without nerfing the skill.
But yeah theres no real counterplay, you need to kind of hope your right next too line of sight when its cast because you can't move with a 70% snare while being forced to block. Drains a lot of stam and forces you to block which usually mean you get caught by other players are die.
Its a stupid skill, the change too it was stupid and not needed. I should be able to bash it at least.PS4 EU DC

✭Soul Assult is a direct counter to stamina medium roll dodgeing builds.
It would make sense that you feel it your supposed to.
As far as counters go;
LOS
Heavy Armor
Use Sword and Shield with block reduction passives
Sword and shield Ultimate
If your in a CP campaign put more point s into block cost reduction
Wear block reduction glyphs on your jewelry
Most classes have a defensive utility Ultimate that gives major protection or reduces damage
Any ranged stuns
There is 8 counters and I know I am missing some;

So what i got from this is be a heavy s&b user.... so you can block it and not spend near 20k~ stamina but spend 12k~

wahoozie✭✭✭While I do believe it should be tuned down a bit, I think the maximum it can drain is 15120. (base block is 2160, x7 ticks = 15120) As for counters, I've had no problems blocking a tick or two then shielding or just mist form on magic characters. On stamina using some form of major expedition then los usually works. My problem comes when there are already 2-3 people attacking or while under effects of cost poison it effectively becomes an auto win button.0
