Ever since I got morrowind I've been dealing with the dread long loading screens 5-10mins a loading screen tha last time it was this bad was at original launch

Franieck✭✭✭✭Check you hard disk activity. There is probably some program or service running on the background that is using up all your disk. stop the service/exe after identifying it. For some reason ESO makes some windows services startup and go crazy on my laptop and it will only run smoothly after stopping them. Tip: Disabling shader cache did help me out a lot with loading screens and stutter.Edited by Franieck on June 18, 2017 3:35PM4 -

Also, loading screens were generally much shorter back then.
Putting the abysmal Client/Server implementation aside for a moment, ZOS has been continuously scaling down their Server hardware ever since launch.
It should be no surprise to anyone that this is getting worse instead of better.

1. Many still play on the same PC/console they did in 2014
2. Graphics have improved in Morrowind

Me too, even during peak hours its usually around 8-15 seconds.
People who have issues may want to think about mapping ports to device name through the MAC address instead of to IP. Since I did that 2 months after console launch, I've never had issues. IP mapping: port settings may not always follow the device, depending on how the router assigns them each day. ✭Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the initial load screen was the mega server "figuring out" what instance of the game to put you in? Other things like addons and your cumputer's abilities play into it as well.. but mostly, it's the game figuring out where to put you I believe. So, at prime time.. the megaserver is busier.. so the wait would be a little longer.
There has also been a problem with I'm thinking one of the servers in the megaserver chain that takes forever to log you in.. (just constant icon spinning.. I never waited 10 minutes to see if it ever figured things out.. I just closed down my game and tried again hoping to get on a different server in the megaserver chain). Maybe you've gotten on that one possibly and that's why it's taking so long? ZOS needs to identify which of the servers that is happening on and replace or fix whatever the problem is.
There was a recent interview where Matt Firor talkes about the megaserver here. The most interesting thing I got out of that interview is that ESO is running 15-20 versions of the game for the Vvardenfell zone. I always wondered just how many versions of the game might be going on at one time... now I know (sort of).

Morrowind is recent enough that returning and new players make up a ton of extra server traffic, which can impact things on other clients as well.0 -

✭Addons doesn't affect loading screen (maybe at really old PCs only). I have 50+ addons and most of times my loading screens doesn't lasts longer than 30sec. The game installed on SSd tho...
Most of times... But sometimes in the Cyrodiil it goes for several minutes, even without teleportation - i.e. keep changes it's allegiance and whole raid looking into loading screen.

The short version:
Been here since 2013, was part of the super secret 24/7 Psijic Order test group, had access to plenty of "behind the scenes" information, been doing this sort of work for a living for the last 35 years, had no trouble dissecting many of the ESO components during the last 4 years, pointed out many flaws in the current implementation as far back as October 2013 and predicted the PC launch bot disaster.
There are many ways to obtain that information if you know where to look ...

✭✭My game occasionally does this to me too, usually at its worst on the weekends. I have noticed though when logging onto PTS that the loading screens are extremely fast, so its either congestion on the server side, or there is an add-on culprit perhaps?love is love0 -

✭The infinite loading screens are a real problem. I'm running off a PCIe SSD ~2000 mb/s read so the problem isn't me.
I've noticed the problem is worse if you are in a group. Always get it trials, dungeons and Cyrodiil.0 -

Im on ps4. Last night was the worst for me. I load in 2 min, select caracter already in Cyrodiil and get long load screen (5 in a row to be exact), get in game strait to freeze frame, close app and restart and back to load screen.
Finaly get in game run like mad to keep and as I enter doors.... U guessed It "FREEZE [snip]"
Log out and back in and no AP.
Run next keep same [snip] and the next and the next and the next and the......
I spend 4 hours on eso last night but only had an half hour game time and by the end of it i was so angry that I switched off and ended up watching Agents of Shield to calm me down.
I'm putting a lot of hours into PVP in the hopes of getting emperor but now starting to feel dead inside just thinking about eso.
Don't know if I will have the will to log on tonight.

kagorsa✭✭✭Simple fix, log in then go make a drink/pick your nose or what ever floats your boat, also you now have time to think about something else to moan about. BTW The log in server is not the same server you play on, it has a hyperlink to the game servers, which are nodes that all link together.Barbed wire has so many uses. Please bear in mind I have writing Dyslexia & I use Grammarly to help me type.0 -
