Would you like to be able to dive underwater?

For me, not being able to dive makes the game a lot less realistic (in so far as a game without perma-death and with magic can be), and seems out of sorts with the rest of the realism. Being able to dive would add many more possibilities to the game, from quests, dungeon layouts, collecting, exploration so on and so on.

To keep with realism, the amount of time you can spend underwater should be limited. With maybe some way to extend this with crafts.

Sure, but it wouldn't add anything to the gameplay since there is nothing underwater. You can already get away from enemies by just jumping into water (they can't swim).

    It depends what for.

Swimming for the sake of swimming doesn't seem worth the development time.

As for content to be added maybe some dungeons or exploration but it has to feel good and be worth it.

Matt Furor, the game director for ESO, said in a recent interview that he likes the idea of adding underwater content. ESO is in a position to do it better than other MMORPGs so express your enthusiasm and support.

    Maybe later?

As @Turelus suggested, it might be cool in dungeons - or access to a hidden location in the overworld - but I wouldn't want them to just add diving to the base game as it is.

I voted no, as diving (and pretty much swimming) with heavy armor would let you sink straight to the bottom. You will drown before you can ditch the gear and get new breath. So unless they come with a waterbreathing spell like they used to in the other TES games, there is no use in diving.

I know there one quest currently that sorta starts involves diving in water in Craglorn. But that it.

Issue with the game now, they'll have to make terrain under deep water as most is flat.

I voted no because traditionally its been a rather useless features in the ES series anyway... most of underwater you can still be attacked... there's hardly ever anything worthwhile hidden in the water - and then lastly there's just no point other than for cool factor.

Why spend time developing a feature that won't and can't have any real value? They'd also have to retroactively go to all zones, fix any meshing and and cell borders in the water - then they'd have to develop new water physics, new animations for diving and underwater swimming etc. etc. and the payoff would just not be worth it. Also would have to add breathing - just another resource or way to drain current resources.

I'd rather them develop the rest of the Tamriel map before we even consider things like this.

Too dive alone just for the heck of it then I would say no. Not sure all the time developing this feature would be worth it just so we can dive if we feel like it. But if underwater treasures, bosses or heck even dungeons and delves are added then yeah why not.

I don't want a special underwater combat system like Guild Wars 2. It would just be nice to see what's under the water, and maybe have light/heavy attacks work against slaughterfish?

P.S.: And maybe a breath mechanic, with Argonians able to hold their breaths indefinitely?

Read a lot of comments about this, and capes as far as the game engine goes, but ass far as capes are concerned there is a early eso video on utube that shows 2 different clips of gameplay where the character is wearing a cape so.... Not so sure the game engine has anything to do with that....

It would add more depth to the game.
    More treasures to be found.

Argonians can breathe underwater so I like this.

However, I do not quite see this as a priority just yet.
Best to implement the Dive feature, to all zones, with a DLC that relies on that mechanic.

Agree with the DLC idea. And with everyone say no if it's just for the sake of diving, there has to be stuff to do. Wouldn't be worth adding without stuff to do, places to go, and things to find.
