Why is Vivec both gold and blue? He reminds me of that 1 boss from an old Street Fighter game.

Vivec is both Chimer and Dunmer--which is why he has different colored skin on two sides. But a lore junkie can explain that in further detail.
The Street Fighter character you are probably thinking of is Gil from Street Fighter 3rd Strike;
This character, is like you said, a boss character from that series.

Yeah, the character I was thinking about. I believe he was also a playable character at 1 point as well. Also, the Chimer are like "god elves", correct? I thought they were all eradicated and made into Falmer. Or was that the Snow Elves that I'm thinking about...?

While I love the game, and absolutely adore the questing... I often times find myself confused at the ecosystem. I find myself wondering about the lore of it all, and why things are the way that they are.
For example: Why are there so many mushrooms everywhere? What is a shalk, and why do they look like beetles? What is up with the scribs and nixes? Are they bugs/insects, or are they monsters/aliens? Why are there so many things based on fire? Why are stilt thingies so damn freaky looking and odd? Why is Vivec both gold and blue? He reminds me of that 1 boss from an old Street Fighter game. What exactly are houses, and are they like clans/brotherhoods? What exactly is the tribunal?

And killed Nerevar. Can't forget thatThe Dunmer were originally Chimer. They were turned into the Dunmer when Azura cursed them when the Tribunal went against her wishes and used the Heart of Lorkhan to turn themselves into gods
the events of the original morrowind involve the power of the tribunal fading and dagoth ur and the 6th house returning and a divine plague known as corpus disease. Should also note that even without vivecs powers from lorkans heart he still is powerful as he knows CHIM. Fun fact the spear called mautra behind his back is molag bal's private part

It existed long before this updateWow... This stuff seems so damn fascinating and lit. It feels like Game of Thrones, but like more elf-based with all the betrayals and politics all about. I love it! See! This is what impresses me. The inner workings of all this, and the lore. And how all of it ties together. This is some good stuff with this update. It's like expanding upon a fan fiction here in this thread, without all the cringeworthy stuff in the mix.Keep the information flowing, everyone. And thank you very much! I definitely will have to hit-up that wiki you guys are mentioning, and really get the studying.
LOL! Wait, I had heard that in a YouTube video before. Something about Vivec or somebody having sense with Molag Bal, or rather their head had sex with Molag Bal. And things got even more weirder than that somehow, and it involved Molag Bal'a *** being torn off and given as a gift? Something like that.
Yep LOL Vivec actually has written a sermon about it XD http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/36_Lessons_of_Vivec,_Sermon_12LOL! Wait, I had heard that in a YouTube video before. Yeah.. Vivec did some really strange things involving having sex with Molag Bal (The God of Schemes | the Prince of Domination | the King of sexual assault), getting decapitated and then having some more sex, and.. Well. "It's complicated" ™
Speaking of YouTube videos, check out Shoddycasts videos on Elder Scrolls Lore. Lots of good stuff

I mean the other races do have their fair share of politics sure, but Dunmer dials that all the way up to 10. The fact they that have their 'own' exclusive Assassination club to take out any one(even fellow Dunmer) who stands in the Great Houses way, makes their race extremely scary to cross even in a superficial level!

Wait, that's the Morag Tong. Correct? While the Ordinators are the guards who merely just watch over the temples spread about. Correct? Or do I have that backwards? Or do they actually start involving the Dark Brotherhood?
But wait a second.... Wasn't the DB based on the Morag Tong originally, and are now at war with each other? With the Morag Tong having an upper hand in the conflicts?

Anyway, tribunal not really Gods, just suped up elves from a spirit's heart (true God's are Akatosh, Talos after Ascension, and Sithis) lork is not really a spirit but more of a being that is the anthesis of spirits created by Sithis to trick the spirits into "dying"
But yeah his heart powers up people around it, Dwemer wanted to use it to become gods too
I would like to point out that Lorkhan tricked other divines into creating Nirnstarkerealm wrote: »Anyway, Lorkhan is The Lost God, or The God of Creation. The artifact that the Tribunal pulls their power from may, in fact, be his heart... or it could just be some extremely potent source of power.

It was torn from his "body". Lorkhan was roughly beaten up after creation of Nirn by others. Not killed - he can't be killed - but... well, he isn't recovering for a while
And source of Tribunal power is 100% Heart of Lorkhan, Azura confirms it

Yeah, "tricked," is correct.
