@Ch4mpTW, in case it hasn't become abundantly clear, TES's setting is bonkers.
Phahahaha, damn straight :D The Nerevar history is honestly not complicated, it's easy-peasy in comparison with creation of everything, Dragon Breaks, CHIM, Towers and... pretty much everything behind the scene :D

    Lol

I never played the previous games. Thanks for the insight into the lore you lore junkies.

Seriously though, I am finding the history more fascinating the more I play the game

While I love the game, and absolutely adore the questing... I often times find myself confused at the ecosystem. I find myself wondering about the lore of it all, and why things are the way that they are.

For example: Why are there so many mushrooms everywhere? What is a shalk, and why do they look like beetles? What is up with the scribs and nixes? Are they bugs/insects, or are they monsters/aliens? Why are there so many things based on fire? Why are stilt thingies so damn freaky looking and odd? Why is Vivec both gold and blue? He reminds me of that 1 boss from an old Street Fighter game. What exactly are houses, and are they like clans/brotherhoods? What exactly is the tribunal?

Those are the types of things I'm curious about, as I never played the original Morrowind game. Skyrim was my first Elder Scrolls title. Thanks in advance to anyone who can clear all these things up for me.

Vvardenfell was meant to be a truely alien place. Something that was different and out of place in a fantasy genre. The locale was supposed to reflect the very alien nature and culture of the Dunmer people. The reason theyre so rough around the edges being that they had to survive in such harsh conditions.

Whats more alien than a place where giant Alice in Wonderland like mushrooms dominate the terrain more than trees do? Scribs and Nix Hounds/Oxes are giant bugs. Most of Vvardenfell was home to monsterous sized creatures before the Chimer showed up. This is sort of whats left over from that era. Much smaller bugs but still relatively big for us.

As for the fire...When you live beneath places like Red Mountain. Fire tends to become a very important and almost spiritual aspect to you and your people. And the freaky odd things...it goes back to the whole alien fantasy concept.

Vivec is two colors for a multitude of reasons. But to simplify it. Hes all about duality. Warrior-poet, Hemaphradite, Living God, Chimer (past) Dunmer (present), and CHIM.

Vivec is a hermaphrodite? Damn bruh. The ESO story keeps getting more and more kinky. Feels like it was a Clive Barker creation with all these monsters and sexual references here and there. Also, that would make sense as to why he has 2 colors (him being based on duality).
