Nightblade questions

My first character is a Khajiit nightblade. At the start of the game I had to change to a new character to become a werewolf, and that dragon knight ended up becoming my main. Well, I'm back to leveling my nightblade and I have no idea how to play the class. She's level 40 right now so I'll soon be champion and I'm testing out all the nightblade abilities to see which ones I like. I'm a stamblade making a werewolf build, but I want to make my Khajiit as strong as possible. I have my armor sets but I want to know, what are some good nightblade abilities for a tank/dps with bow and duel wield? I am not doing any more PvP on the character. I've done enough to get vigor. This is a PvE character. Thoughts? Ideas?

Caltrops is nice, but would require one more rank in Alliance.

After that, it's pretty easy to find DW/Bow guides. Just swap out Barrage on the back bar with WW from any of those guides and you'd be golden.

Now, if you mean you want to actually use WW as part of your rotation? Well, that's different as It's hard to work it in to a rotation in a way that you can actually generate more DPS with it than the standard Bow/DW build. The problem there is that the animation is too long.

Otherwise, it's not horrible to have, WW makes you a bit tankier, has a couple of decent heals, and if you run with the pets it manages agro reasonably well. But for that, you can leave it off the bar and just run the normal DW/Bow setup and only put it back on the bar on pulls that prove to be difficult for you.

This is a pretty normal stamblade build:

There's a link to a guide for you.

You should pick a primary role. I'm not sure what you mean by Tank/DPS. If you're going to tank you're going to need to use 1H/Shield to mitigate more damage. If you're going to deal damage you should stick with DW/Bow.

That said, once you've chosen your role, you can tweak your build to suite your needs. For example if you're DPS with DW/Bow you can also slot abilities like Mirage (NB skill) or Elude/Shuffle (medium armor), Blade Cloak (DW), ect. to make yourself tankier. Just remember your primary role. You can't deal damage if you're so tanky you hit like a wet noodle, follow?

Well, the reason I say tank/dps is because with my experience on my dragon knight, I have found a perfect balance between survivalibity and damage dealing. I am trying to do something similar with my nightblade. To answer your question, I would be a dps with better survivability.

Stamblade it's really not very effective as a tank.
I think u should go to only dd or only tank (if u wanna try it) but normally the Stamblade fill only the dd role in PVE.

My build is a weird one. It takes what people know about dps and turns it on its head. In other words, it's not traditional or meta. I have my role figured out. After all, I will be in werewolf form a majority of the time. However, when I'm not, I need to know how the nightblade abilities work and what works well together. Are there good ultimate generating abilities I could use? Self buffs? Other good heals besides vigor? I could use a few good magicka abilities too to better manage resources.

I just started trying to use werewolf again...not sure what I'm doing and WW form isn't working very good for me. Anyways, you can't really tank so great in WW form, you have no taunt.

Stam nightblade can be played quite a bit different than the normal rapid strikes, twin slashes setups, though you might be giving up some Meta DPS to Have more survival. You can S/B and use Surprise Attack, Power extraction and killers blade for execute.

Ultimate generating abilities: the nightblade has a few passives for ultimate generation, and also Soul Harvest ultimate, which gives 7 ult per kill, so slotting that on your execute bar means you'll have plenty. Speaking of ultimate, consider the new War Machine armor set from the Morrowind trial. Nightblades have cheap ultimate and rapid generation, so can use this set effectively.

Self buffs: Relentless focus, Power Extraction (also an aoe), siphoning strikes (optional post Morrowind nerfs)

Self Heals: There are several mag based self heals, so vigor is your best bet. kylewwefan mentioned the stam self heals already, but note that they are situation dependent (executes etc). NBs are known for being squishy because they lack a lot of the resistance boosting abilities found in other classes, in favor of stealth abilities. Thus dedicated NB tanks are more sap tanks, which isn't what you are going for either.

Mix these in with standard weapon abilities for bow/dw and go get caltrops.

    My two cents.

I'm a woodelf stamblade WW and I'm pretty happy with my crit build.

As a khajiit you should be able happy with it too.

5 medium, 2 heavy (chest, legs) with Night Terror/Way of Fire sets. Not optimal but fun as heck.

I never see a need to change my bar.

    So I run:

Shrouded Daggers: for major brutality (sometimes for mobs it's all I need...pff.)

Relentless Focus: in for a long fight? Boom.

Killer's Blade: My finisher and my heals.

Mirage: Like...I really don't want to exert myself, you know? (also for the crit buff from the skill line)

Camouflaged Hunter: For the major savagery and minor berserk (FG skill line)

Then the WW ultimate for the 15% stam regen. And also for funsies. And long fights cause it has an actual heal and damage buff.

I've been having a blast with this set up. If you're only interested in PvE and you want to tank a bit and still inflict some hurts then it's a perfectly serviceable build.
