ESO should bring back the Dwemer, it's time we get a new race in the game. Well old race... Eh ... Return of the Dwemer.

From what little I've read from lore, the Dwemer are not extinct, but open a portal to a new realm. So they could easily come back to Tamrial.
They can't return because we know they didn't. ESO takes place 800 years before the mainline TES games and by that point in the future, Vivec didn't find any trace of the Dwemer, neither on Mundus not in the Outer Realms.

This also suggests they aren't simply hiding in another realm. They vanished; there are several theories as to how and to where, but none of them allow for easy return to Mundus (if it's even possible at all, because they might very well all be dead).

But most importantly: the primary appeal of the Dwemer are their mysteries. If they come back to answer all our questions, the magic will be gone. I hope it never happens.

I seen a dwarf. I did. It was late in the middle of the night. Me and Bornn were wandering by the farm hunting skeevers when loe and behold, der it was, a dwarf. He was holding a big ax, stroking his beard, and drinking a full mug of stout. He pointed his index finger at me and said something in his dweemish like language. Bornn grabbed his hammer and chased after him, but the little bugger was faster than a guar during solstice. Reported it to the local constable, and he said he'd chased one, too, a long time ago before he took an arrow in the knee and couldn't chase them any more.

Dun-mer, Alt-mer, Bos-mer, Fal-mer, and Dwe-mer. Just another Elf race, Dwe = Dweller/Dwelling as in (probably) Ground Dwelling Mer. One thing that has always struck me as odd, every piece of Dwemer gear you see, is huge (Dwemer boots setting out are 1/3rd as tall as a player is). So, Dwemer can't be dwarves.

I know the timelines don't match up as the Dwemer disappeared at the end of the Battle for Red Mountain. But it would be interesting if the Dwemer as a race had attained ascension and as a race were transformed into the Daedra.

I think it would be some interesting story to find out that the dwemer were half-breeds. Between the Dwarves we all know, and some other race of surface dwellers. Due to this fact, and the stealing of some of the purebred Dwarven technology, they were killed off by the racists Dwarves from within the Hollow Nirn. This lead to the great tech war between the Dwarves, and the Gnomes. The Gnomes were greatly horrified by the slaughter of those innocent Dwemer. These battles underfoot are why the volcanos have been erupting as they have been.

    Ummmmm.... No......Just NO...
First off, there are no Gnomes on Nirn nor anywhere else in Mundas.
Next, the TES lore is already established and goes back 20 years. It's lore is older and more in depth than WoW or most any other game.
I TRULEY suggest you consult some Lore Sites and Videos. ShoddyCast has a great series.
One thing you will find here is that TES Lore is important and ideas like that while may be cool in your eyes, has no place in this universe.
May your journey of TES Enlightenment begin...'Huzzah!

Note: And "Dwarves" is just a Nedic name for the "Dwemer", Elves from Aldmeris, who are later called "The Deep Elves".

Are you guys also saying that the Dwemer are not capable of building time traveling machines? In the glorious World of Warcraft.....when a new race was needed a space ship full of goats crashed landed into the planet. I do not understand why we can't do the same thing here. Couldn't the Dwemer build time traveling machines and get stuck in the past? Making Dwemer a playable ESO race? This could change all the games in ESO forever....once the Dwemer time traveled to the past.....every future Elder Scrolls game can be simply a tranformed version of the old one. For instance....in this new time line we will see Dwemer all over Skyrim.

For the love of Akatosh, NO! Please!!
Please realize this isn't WoW, THANK THE DIVINES!
IMO, WoW lore is crap and cant't compare to TES lore.
You REALLY need to learn about TES lore before posting such ideas. Try this:
    https://www.imperial-library.info/

It has 20 years and 3,000+ in game books of TES lore.
You can't just change the lore of 10 games & 20 years of lore!

I actually read in another thread on this very forum that the most likely explanation is that they all moved to a faraway land where they build tiny replicas of their machines now for so called 'collectors editions' and they called this land china. Of course this could be a translation error, maybe it's just one of their cities.

Dwarves have been extinct in Elder Scrolls for a very long time. They were also nothing like Tolkien/WoW Dwarves, except for living underground perhaps.

There's a, "leak," running around on 4chan claiming that TES7 will see the Dwemer return. I'd say, "look it up, if you're curious," but honestly the content doesn't pass a scratch and sniff test.

The Dwemer attempted to turn themselves into gods. To that end, they tried to tap into the Heart of Lorkhan (the name isn't entirely figurative), and (probably due to some miscalculation), obliterated their entire race. There is only one living Dwarf at this point. Even their ghosts are fairly rare.

The "mystery," is that most characters don't know what happened, not that this hasn't been explicitly detailed to the player in a previous game.

They didn't, "build a time machine." They tried to hijack the power of a god and got vaporized. In fact, you can actually find and translate the texts that detail what the Dwemer were doing, specifically, before they vanished.

There are (as far as I know) no actual dwarves in the Elder Scrolls universe. The Dwemer were actually another race of elves (yes, elves!)

Story (I can't confirm) goes a race of giants met them and since they were small in comparison, they came to be called dwarves. Supposedly the dwemer/dwarves were actually of average height compared to the other major races in Tamriel. Taller than the wood elves.

Something that's... probably, worth remembering about Warcraft and where it pulls it's tone: Warcraft began life as a serial numbers filed off version of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. There's a lot of of distinction, The Orcs (now The Horde) weren't the Greenskins, except they kinda were. The Alliance wasn't the Empire, with the High Elves and Dwarves mixed in... except they kinda were. Moving forward into WC3, the Undead aren't the Tomb Kings, except they kinda are, the Night Elves aren't the Wood Elves, except, you know, they kinda are. The Burning Legion isn't Chaos... except that's the part where this gets weird.

See, Warhammer: Fantasy and Warhammer 40k aren't exactly different settings. They don't interconnect directly, but Chaos Daemons cross back and forth pretty indiscriminately. Now, Starcraft doesn't have The Burning Legion. I mean, the Terrans aren't exactly Space Marines, the Protoss aren't exactly the Eldar, and the Zerg aren't exactly 'nids. But, it's all just close enough that when Warcraft starts pulling out Sci-Fi elements, you really shouldn't be surprised.

The Elder Scrolls, on the other hand? Not so much. There is no Sci-Fi take on TES. TES really isn't supposed to be tied into a Sci-fi setting the way Warhammer and (by extension), Warcraft are.

Also, these aren't the dwarves you're looking for. The Elder Scroll's Dwemer aren't that different looking from the Altmer. They're aggressive, xenophobic, and downright sadistic. If you need to put them in a context you're familiar with, they're more in line with Dungeons and Dragon's Dark Elves (with less of the spider obsession, and more of a technical focus). Not angry, heavily armed, Scottish stereotypes.
