So I'm thinking of making a tank and using Nord for the class, but which class would make for a better tank, Warden or Dragonknight?

Simple, do you want to be the best tank or the best off-tank? Best end game tank is still going to be DK. The best off-tank, off-heals would be your Warden. Please not that there is a still a role and great utility for both classes. A group with a DK and Warden will do nicely as any "adds" can be picked up by the Warden, while the DK handles boss aggro. If there is only one boss, the DK can handle the aggro of the boss, while the Warden adds heals and DPS.

The devs pretty much said this about the Warden and based on feedback so far, it appears it accurate.

Having Tank with both I still think DK's are the superior one but Wardens are CLOSE seconds and are amazing off tanks. In Halls I could very well see one of the tanks be a Warden and in vSO, vMaw, vHRC where off tanks are more commonly used they would be perfect to have there. You can run a warden main tank but with the meta change a bit the High HP DK's with strong Dmg shield to the teams and strong CC and self sustain wins them the day. This was just a TL;DR cause there is more to it than that why DK's gets the upper hand.

    Dragonknight tanks are better.

But Warden tanks are perfectly fine.

If you plan to main tank for a guild competing for top leaderboard spots, DK is a must. For everything else Warden is fine.

    Suggestion:

Make the Warden first and experiment cause I'm hesistant to choose a polled response without knowing

    1. If you plan on being sword and board
    2. If you plan on being frost staff
    3. If for dungeons
    4. If for Trials
    5. If you're going to do Vet dungeons and/or Vet Trials.
    6. Who you're playing with PUG or friends/Guild

    Those all really matter

Normal and veteran dungeons and normal trials can be tanked with pretty much any class and attribute setup without much issues. Top efficiency is only required for veteran trials. DK class passives are simply better because they are more specialised. Warden class passives are more split between tanking and healing. Warden is more suited as off-tank.

I, personally, was leaning more towards warden for the variety of it as well as if I'm going to be putting attribute pts. into health, that would make Impaling Shards stronger, but I also like the idea of a frosty nord character as I played ES-Skyrim a lot before ESO came out, so the theme sounds fun... but... It seems like DKs offer better group support on defenses and increased damage.

To be clear, this character will mostly be geared towards pve content like trials, group dungeons, etc.

Warden is a Jack of all Trades, Master of None kinda class.

DK is still the top class for tanking. But it's a debatable topic if you're talking about Templar healers vs. Warden healers. Those two can pull great numbers in terms of healing but Templar's role as a healer/support is slightly diminished with Morrowind. iSad.

Warden does not have chains but can wear the monsterset that pulls enemies towards you when you block a ranged attack

Problem is, a lot of warden tanks wont use this set so as dps you end up running around single targeting ranged mobs

    Well it depends.
Dk is only viable for tanking if you are orc.
Warden is only viable for tanking if you are orc.
And if you are Orc, class is useless.
So neither of them, is my answer.

So DKs have Noxious Breath for major fracture, Unrelenting grip for pulling, Warmth for snaring; Hardened Armor for a damage shield and major damage reductions, Choking Talons for multiple immobilization and minor maim, Green Dragons Blood for healing as well as stam and health regen, Dragon Fire Scale to bounce back projectiles with extra damage, Deep Breath for a mass interrupt, Iron Skin to block up to 10% more damage, Burning Heart for extra health regen while a DP power is active, Elder Dragon for further health regen, Scaled Armor for extra spell resist; Magma Shell giving everyone a damage shield, Igneous Weapons to give everyone a damage boost regardless of magicka or stamina focus, Igneous Shield also gives damage shields and major mending for about 2 seconds, Shattering Rocks for multiple immobilizations with splash damage at the end, Cinder Storm for a mass snare AoE, Battle Roar to regain resources on ultimate casting, Mountain's Blessing for mass weapon damage boost and slight ultimate gain, and Helping Hands to regen stamina.

Wardens get Subterranean Assault for major damage nerfs to foes, A choice of regen on stamina OR magicka, Bird of Prey for stamina regen + major evasion + minor berserk, Savage Beast for slight ultimate gain, Flourish for up to 12% stamina AND Magicka regen; Enchanted Forest for healing with ultimate gain, Enchanted Growth to give allies healing and regen to both stamina AND magicka, Budding Seeds for an insta-heal, Leeching Vines for health regen with minor lifesteal for more healing, a Lotus power that boosts crit for spell OR weapon damage, a Gap-closing heal in Nature's Grasp, Accelerated Growth for major mending when healing someone under 40% health, Nature's Gift to restore magicka OR stamina when healing, Emerald Moss to give a slight boost to healing, Maturation to grant a minor health boost to anyone you heal; Permafrost for an AoE with potential stunning, Expansive Frost Cloak for multi-player major defense boosts, Impaling Shards for a mass immobilization, Polar Wind to heal you and an ally, Shimmering Shield for anti-projectile and ultimate gain, Frozen Device for pulling and major damage nerf to enemies, Frozen Armor for boosts to your defenses, Icy Aura to reduce snares applied to you and Piercing Cold for extra magicka and frost damage.

So it looks like DKs give more support overall while Wardens work better as heal-tanks. It looks like DKs give more boosts to damage and defenses while Wardens can only give defensive boosts and healing, but no damage boosts or shields to other players. I think I'll go with the DK then. I started this thread because I'm on XB1 and haven't gotten the chance to play wardens yet and was curious as to how decent they were at tanking. Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Spamming unlimited 12K shield on allies and a 24K shield on self, with unlimited resource gain and massive group utility?

Go Dragonknight this patch. If you know the new tanking build, you won't feel any incentive to pick any other class for the job.

***This assumes you care about using what is strongest*** If you don't care about having the strongest build or any of that, all classes can work.

Yeah, I was thinking Blood Spawn for extra ultimate gain with Akaviri Dragonguard and Green Pact or Plague Doctor so I can focus (at least most of) my attribute points on stamina and magicka.
